The issue with Smalling and its always been the same is he needs someone to tell him what to do, when to press when to move etc. Blind has done this which helped him improve. Blind is not a CB but he is an intelligent player, we need an intelligent CB. With Baily being so young we should not expect him to guide Smalling.

For the record I don't think Smalling is great but I think like Felliani he is being over criticised individually at the moment. The whole team was abysmal.
{Ed025's Note - can you tell me what exactly fellaini brings to the table maze?, other than flailing his arms around like a whirling dervish i cant think of anything constructive myself mate, hes not even good in the air..

Ed its easy focus on the way fellani plays or the way he is asked to play.
Its too easy make him the scapegoat yet the last 3 managers pick him to play.
Ed out of curiosity mate, how do you think pogba played the last 2 league games against some of the top sides in the league.
{Ed025's Note - i think pogba has been very poor since he has arrived leahy, i dont think he has adjusted to the speed of the prem compared to the time he was afforded in serie A, i still have high hopes for him though and feel he needs better players around him to flourish and if carrick was along side him rather than the wig im sure it would improve him mate..

Ed025 I honestly think if Felliani wasn't in the LVG side that got a CL place a year or so ago United would not have been in the CL since the end of the Moyes era.
Again I am not saying Felliani is this wonderful player but I don't think he has been our worse performer this season. He is an easy target but the fact of the matter is Felliani wasn't signed to change games or win big games guys like Pogba and Zlatan were and how did they play over the last few games?
{Ed025's Note - they have both been very disappointing maze and have yet to adjust to this league which affords you very little time on the ball, they both need a good kick up the arse for me but thats jose,s job, you say fellaini was not signed to change games but for £28m you would expect he might...now i know you will throw the pogba fee right back at me mate.. :)

fellaini played well under jose it was only last week he had a very good game against liverpool.
he does what is asked.
i don't think we are creating enough, not taking our chances and our wing play has been awful .
we are very slow in the last 3rd and don't get enough forward.
not of that is fellaini job.
against chelsea with a team most would want we still looked crap .
feyenoord away with a team most would want was prob our worse performance of the season.
players that don't play suddenly turn in to world beaters and the ones that do are crap, but this is a team game .
if the wig goes in there gives the ball short to the likes of pogba herrera and breaks up play he will of done his job .
if the players around him also do there job the team will look better as will fellaini .
he is just a piece of a bigger picture.

Personally Jred I think it's time to bring back Rooney but I will keep those thoughts to myself. Don't wanna be labelled a Rooney apologist.

I think our problem is we change personnel too much, how are we going to find consistency if we change all the while, it's why I say Jose doesn't know his best team and prob is surprised how poor some are as he usually sticks to the same 13/ 14 at United he can't cz he's confused and that's giscisdue but the players need to step up also.

Ed025 you are correct mate. £28m is nothing to be sniffed at. The fact is we have close to £300m of midfielders and some folk feel we need more to challenge. It's all getting very silly now.
{Ed025's Note - some poor recruiting for me maze and it will take a while for jose to sort out the wheat from the chaff, im still not convinced that mourinho is the right guy but i suppose time will tell mate..
