Jorge mendes super agent extraordinaire was pictured coming into carrington today. That along with florentino perez's comments about great players not coming on free transfers.

Am i right in thinking eds that de gea will sign a new contract? or is this me putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5

{Ed002's Note - Mendes has been there to arrange a new deal for De Gea.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic news if true, i'm hoping Real have burned their bridges with De Gea over this whole Fiasco, and he will be ours for at least a few more years.

10 Sep 2015 17:05:57
Jase,

I would still expect him to go next summer, but we have him over a barrel, I imagine the deal will have a huge release clause, no cheap signing for Madrid next summer.

10 Sep 2015 17:16:56
He'll definitely receive a large signing on fee. Got a feeling he will sign. Fingers crossed

10 Sep 2015 17:55:48
ed002

I thought a deal was already on the table, do you think he will sign a new deal.

{Ed002's Note - Mendes is looking for a different deal. If he gets the package that Mendes wants I would expect he will sign.}

10 Sep 2015 18:31:13
Ed02 i assume this package that mendes wants includes a release clause or is it to do with something else?

{Ed002's Note - Something else.}

10 Sep 2015 18:56:33
I would offer the £200k a week that was on the table. Offer to backdate it to the original offer. Agree to a sell on fee of £28m that was on the table this year (equivalent but without Navas involvement).
This would secure De Gea, Secure a reasonable fee and would give us our number 1 keeper back.

10 Sep 2015 19:32:25
If he wants a new deal with a signing on fee, then give it to him, but make sure any release agreements include this payment on top of anything we want for him, that way we get it back. So a release clause of say £45m if he wants a signing on fee of £10m and we want say £35m for him. Real will have then basically paid his signing fee, not us.

By the way, isn't Rooney amazing? What a player! Before the RDL come on, I'll get that one in.

10 Sep 2015 21:26:17
Ed are you willing to state what the "something else" is that mendes is after?

Thanks in advance

{Ed002's Note - Money.}

10 Sep 2015 22:55:13
brendan will have a break down if ddg gets even more cash out of this .

10 Sep 2015 23:11:45
Jred, he should get the going rate for a top 2 in the world keeper, I have no issue with that, as he is in the final year of his contract, which needs renewing. What he shouldn't get, is overpaid, if he wants a signing on fee then build it into the release clause. Others have been paid far more than their worth to the team, at the time of the contract agreement, having flirted with other teams more than once.

10 Sep 2015 23:11:58
Theres a rumour they want his improved wage backdated to the start of last season. Not sure how true but i'd take that move if it means we don't loose him for free or a pittance.

10 Sep 2015 23:31:37
Let's see if DDG gets the Rooney treatment for holding the club to ransom. There is literally not much to differentiate between the two situations except DDG had 2/3 of his body out the door two weeks ago.

No wait he won't be subjected to any abuse because he is Spaniard.

11 Sep 2015 00:15:39
maze
of course he wont.

brendan
when rooney got his new contract he had prob just had his best season.
im sure ddg can do no wrong as long as he doesn't keep kagawa out yhe team.
also its the rrdt . font leave robson out

11 Sep 2015 00:28:19
As long as whatever we pay him ends up being less than what he ends up moving on for - I see it as a good bit of business. Given the £12m supposedly on offer from Real if he sees out his contract - I expect we'll be looking at a rather sizable amount.

11 Sep 2015 07:04:35
I think people comparing Rooney and DDG is so far off. DDG was going to RM which arguably is the largest club in the world and happens to be where his entire social and family network is.

He never held out looking for more money and threatening to go a major hated rival in the league. Rooney on the other hand was ready to move to a team which back then had won nothing with zero tradition or european pedigree and according to Steve bruce and redcap had agreed personal terms even before the club would sanction a move. Get real people i know rooney is liked by many but don't confuse the 2 issues.

10 Sep 2015 22:52:51
Ed02 I know your not a psychic but do you think that de Gea will sign a new deal with us? He needs to be playing to be considered for Spain at the euros and maybe he realises how much everybody loves him and maybe he loves us too.

{Ed002's Note - I have already answered this above.}

11 Sep 2015 08:15:18
Forgot to add i like Rooney and think he is very good player and will go down as a legend in our history books and England 20 years form now no one will even remember the other stuff.

11 Sep 2015 10:00:29
Jred, So when Rooney held us to ransom the 2nd time, and we gave him silly money, that was also the case? Of course not. As I said, first time he got the benefit of the doubt, he was playing well and could argue he deserved a bit more for his new contract. The 2nd time his bridges burnt to the ground, he wasn't playing that well, SAF had wanted rid, and he didn't deserve the extra he and his agent wanted.

Also, Nothing to do with nationality JMB, stupid thing to say pal.

11 Sep 2015 11:51:39
brendan
how did he hold the club to ransom the second time .

its up to the club to offer a player a contract they think he is worth.
if the player is happy with the amount on offer and terms he will sign ,if not he will leave.
that goes for any player in the world football is there job.

but man united don't get held to ransom .
they don't have to offer any player a contract if they don't want to
