Ed.It's nearly transfer time again,the last couple of years we have paid over the odds got burnt if you like,are we panicking in the transfer windows,my question is,Woodward is he clever enough,shruid enough for the job,all the scouts we have,directors,boardrooms,we must have a plan in place,I know the players agents don't help,do the glazers have to approve our transfers,have we too many chiefs not enough Indians,

{Ed007's Note - I don't know enough about how Utd operate in the transfer market but something's honking. As someone who follows Utd unlike you guys who are fans I'd blame Woodward, if you're walking into transfer negotiations with Utd's reputation and more importantly their financial clout you should be signings players who are top drawer and will hit the ground running. Daley Blind should be playing for a team like Newcastle or Aston Villa, the least said about ADM the better and Luke Shaw has been more a Look It's Shaw! for one reason or another, I blame the manager for that one but the whole scenario is bizarre.
This summer is crucial in that Utd need to get it right, guys like Ashley Young and Valencia simply aren't good enough, no matter what excuses people want to make, you can add Smalling, Jones, and as for Fellaini (swear) me!! It's like watching Everton when big Duncan Disorderly was playing for them.
I have a worry that Utd is going down the Galacticos road and buying what's available as long as the £ getting mentioned appeases the fans.
How many players do you think Utd need to win the EPL?
I'd say 5-6.. Or the CL? 6-7, depending on Carrick...
De Gea, Rojo, Shaw, Carrick, Mata, Herrera and Rooney are probably the only players from the 1st team squad I'd keep except for youngsters who you lot will know more about than me. The rest I just don't see any long term future at Old Trafford for.
I spoke about 3 players at Celtic earlier with Caolan, van Dijk, Biton and Johansen and even though I'll admit I'm biased I think all 3 of them would offer more to Utd right now than what's there, in my opinion there's a lot players at Utd that wouldn't get in the Celtic team right now. I think I got a liitle bit sidetracked there buddy, sorry about that. It' probably them all to blame lol #UntilRonnyIWasNeverHappy

@Ed007

I don't see how Ed Woodward can be blamed. He doesn't choose which players to buy, which to keep and which to let go. That is done by the manager and the coaching staff. Woodward would be responsible for the money side of things. He was dealing in a market last year where he had to get players without having Champions League football to offer.

One thing is for sure, that unlike before, we don't lose out on players because of money now.

The problem has been with poor identification of targets I think. Blind is not good enough to play for us IMO. He tries his best but he simply doesn't have the pace or the positional discipline. I won't judge shaw yet, just been an injury plagued season for him. Jones has been poor IMO, young no matter what his form is, still isn't a man united quality player IMO and neither is fellaini. Valencia should have been let go long back.

I disagree on Smalling, he has improved and will be a good player I think.

Bond you had me nodding my head in agreement until the last paragraph. The Celtic boys you have mentioned would not get near our team at the minute (maybe Van Dijk but then again he may be another Boumsong) and to say that our players (even the lesser performers) wouldn't be world beaters in the current Celtic team is ludicrous. I hope your just joking mate, in fact the more I re read it I see you are joking.

{Ed007's Note - I'd take van Dijk over Smalling any day, a fit Biton is better than the the perma-injured and much missed Carrick and is a better DM than Blind, because of him we haven't missed Wanyama, and I'd take Johansen every time over the over rated and over-priced Di Maria or muck like Ashley Young.}

Ed , no offence but saying that a lot of United's squad wouldn't make the Celtic team is pushing it a lot . The most average player in United's squad would still be a level above most of what Celtic have imo and I've watched Celtic regularly enough this season . There's no comparison between playing against Inverness , St. Mirren etc and even the bottom teams in the pl

{Ed007's Note - As you say that's your opinion, mine is different. How many SPFL games have you watched this season?}

Hi 007. I know this isn't United related, but I would like to ask your opinion about Ronny Delia. I am from Norway, so that's why i'm curious. I could ask you specific questions, but i'm all for your wide opinion as a Celtic supporter :)

{Ed007's Note - The guy's been a breath of fresh air at Celtic and in Scottish football. #UntilRonnyIWasNeerHappy

Bond, are we cranky today? I think you are being unfair to Blind. In an ideal utd team, Fellaini can be a team player but not a regular starter, he'd be someone you throw in to mix thing up, a plan C sort of guy. Having said that, you are probably right about the major overhauling being needed to catch up with the European Elites.

On a Celtic note, I think if celtic was in the championship this season, they'd not get promotion to the EPL (Running for cover.)

{Ed007's Note - If Utd were playing in the SPFL they'd be lucky to finish 2nd, I'd like to see flyweights powderpuffs like Di Maria, Smalling and Ashley Young getting physically bullied and harassed for 90 mins. A also don't think Utd would have won La Liga (3rd4th) or the Bundesliga (5th/6th at best) or even the French League, Utd would also have struggled to win the English Championship as well. so I don't really see what point you're making.}

Wow , how good must Legia Warsaw be then ?

{Ed007's Note - Inter Milan put us out of Europe, do keep up pfft.}

06 May 2015 14:22:42
ED007 you are on another planet today mate lol.

{Ed007's Note - WOW!! What a well explained point! This must be a contender for Post of the Day.}

06 May 2015 14:25:29
Good think i ran for cover :)

{Ed007's Note - So that'll be you haven't watched much if any and are basing your argument on the generic let's slag every league that's not propped up by Sly money. Football snobbery is such an ugly trait.}

06 May 2015 15:29:44
would agree about blind ,most average first team player we have bought in a long time

{Ed025's Note - i think you are bigging him up calling him average jred..

06 May 2015 16:12:20
thing*

06 May 2015 16:20:55
Let's stop the Blind bashing, he's not top quality but earlier on this season he had quite a few solid performances in midfield for us controlling the entire game but I suppose a lot of United fans on here forget things like that and the ed's who don't support United wouldn't be interested. He's got a great attitude and you don't get selected to play for the Dutch national team for being useless. Better than bloody Cleverley and Anderson put together!!

06 May 2015 16:38:22
ozwald
i would really disagree with that .
im not a fan of cleverly but i would have him before blind

06 May 2015 23:04:01
Wasn't a point mate, it was a statement.
