Won't be 5 teams from Premier League in the Champions League now, think it will go the German league.

Won’t affect us anyways I wouldn’t imagine. Bad news for spurs.

2.) 18 Apr 2024 11:22:50
Irrelevant to us. We’re not at the required standard yet to compete in that competition.

3.) 18 Apr 2024 17:49:58
Couldn’t give 2 hoots

Million miles off competing at the highest level.

4.) 18 Apr 2024 18:08:32
I would be ok with a stint in the UEFA Conference and try to win it as a new European trophy.

5.) 18 Apr 2024 18:35:53
I would prefer us not to be in Europe at all next year if it means being in the conference trophy competition. What with the Euros and and new players / manager? coming in or leaving I would prefer midweek for getting proper coaching sessions and time to rest if players are injured.

6.) 19 Apr 2024 09:35:29
Salford7,

I agree with you. Furthermore it would enable the club to cut down the squad as there wouldn't be the need to such a large playing squad either.

Additionally we might have better luck with injuries aswell.

7.) 19 Apr 2024 19:29:03
I’d be ok being in it, a trophy is a trophy. Need more of that mentality within the squad. Could still use it to blood younger players and expose players like Mainoo to European football.

Latest update says the Glazers are now not all in agreement with selling, this is reported as the delay in thd sale with Joel and Avram both wanting to stay but the others wanting to sell. This if true is not good news and can only delay things.

Recon2

1.) 22 Jul 2023 22:06:54
Oretty mich since the talk of bids first camein there have been stories saying those two didn't want to sell but the rest did or variations of this.

If/ when it happens, it happens, kind of not worth thinking about the various permutations right now as it coukd be weeks months years and they may ir may not sell all or part of the club or finance and probably many more possibilities that i know nothing about.

2.) 23 Jul 2023 00:42:56
Clearly no one has met their absurd valuation, and are very unlikely to do so.

I guess there will be no investment in the facilities, and the bare minimum in the team to try and remain competitive.

As Oakbark suggests, the whole saga is no longer worth conjecturing about. It will happen when it happens, if it happens. Newspaper reports about the internal machinations of the Glazer family are nothing more than guesswork.

3.) 23 Jul 2023 12:44:32
This has been rumoured for months.

24 Jun 2023 16:05:10
Worrying about the Mason Mount deal, he has only 12months left on his contract, didn't have great season last year, had injuries, why would you pay such a high price. He would have been offered a decant wage at Chelsea, we have obviously offered more, we made 3 high bids, time to move on, sign on a free next year if we still want him.

Recon2

1.) 24 Jun 2023 23:40:58
Why not tell Mount and agree with him to sit tight and then come back in January with an offer of say £30m when he has only six months contract left?

{Ed002's Note - That would be a nice charge to defend.}

2.) 25 Jun 2023 08:27:27
Ed in regards to tapping up rules etc, if we said that to his agent is that allowed? Or are there strict guidelines in terms of the conversations that can be had with agents?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with tapping up or agents - it is third party influence over a player and the pub could expect a serious and lengthy transfer ban.

3.) 25 Jun 2023 10:42:18
Ed002

Sorry to reply and ask but after 3 bids rejected we walk away and then January he will be open to signing a pre contract with any team he chooses.

Is it not possible at all for Mount to sign for Utd rather than Utd sign Mount January.

{Ed002's Note - Mount cannot sign a pre-cointract with Manchester United in January.}

4.) 25 Jun 2023 12:03:31
Fair, cheers Ed.

15 Jun 2023 18:39:52
The first marquee signing Mbappe, wouldn't that be nice.

Recon2

1.) 15 Jun 2023 19:47:52
Can't see it but yes it woukd be nice. More important is to get in a top driving mudfielder so we control games.

2.) 15 Jun 2023 22:34:45
On the pitch……. brilliant. Off the pitch……he’s everything we’ve been striving to change and avoid. No thanks. Despite how good he is.

3.) 16 Jun 2023 06:11:17
One-two seasons and he would be angling to move to Madrid. Not worth the hassle.

4.) 16 Jun 2023 09:14:33
Exactly Grim- would be a circus around him, one mis palced pass or missing an easy chance and media will be all over him saying he wants out etc etc -not worth the hassle.

5.) 16 Jun 2023 11:10:19
You're all bonkers if you wouldn't take Mbappe. Circus or not he's at level we should always be attaining to get.

6.) 16 Jun 2023 13:28:02
PSG gave Mbappe fat too much power and that’s been their downfall. If he ends up at Real, City or United he won’t have the clout he’s got at PSG.
I’d take him in a heartbeat! The next best thing to Haaland.

7.) 17 Jun 2023 21:01:08
@2toms - I thought the issue with Mbappe was he hasn’t got the clout that PSG promised? Feels they promised the earth to get him to extend but haven’t delivered. He definitely leaves. He’s happy to run his contract down and PSG will demand he’s sold this summer for a big fee. So then we get into FFP quagmire of who can afford him. Real Madrid just paid out £88m (+£27m add ons) for Bellingham so wouldn’t buy him unless selling someone significant. Arguably he’s actually in the wrong forward position to given he’s similar to Rashford - best at LW. Real need a Benzema replacement more.

8.) 19 Jun 2023 12:26:37
Does Mbappe not tend to play RW?

01 Jun 2023 21:29:05
Think we will pick up a few cheap options, Rabiot, Tielemans, Madisson etc if we can get a few in cheap it may allow the big spend on a CF.

Recon2

1.) 01 Jun 2023 22:23:55
A couple of years ago I would have been keen on Tielemans but he's just not progressed much at all. Even on a free I don't think he'd add much to the squad. Maddison as well is one of those players who's career just hasn't taken off. A player that enjoys the disco lights at 2am more than a good night's sleep is not someone we should be looking at. Not all players that get relegated are poor but that Leicester squad lack motivation and professionalism in my opinion.

Rabiot is a very good player and will be an asset to whichever club he joins.

2.) 01 Jun 2023 22:28:13
Rumours are circling busily about the Mount bid and the idea of using McTominay as a makeweight for Rice.
The idea of a player-plus-£50m+ outlay for Rice and maybe £70m for Mount would surely demand the exit of Fred as well.

Irrespective of whether or not the above is even feasible, Rabiot would be darn expensive, hard work and, like Maddison, would want assurances concerning the regularity of appearances - I suspect Tielemans would be a more suitable squad option if United bought one or two bigger name midfielders.
All three are decent players who I rate, but I wouldn't say any of them would be guaranteed starters in any system at United.

The primary focus should be improving on first-choice options.

3.) 01 Jun 2023 23:15:03
Hope the Rice rumours come true amd he hasn't already settled on Arsenal. Think he would be a massive signing that would drive the club forward.

Mount on the other hand I just find hard to swallow the figures being banded around. A player coming off the back of a not so great season, and entering the final year of his contract surely can't be more than £40 million?

4.) 01 Jun 2023 23:52:43
Sure, Mount and Rice are best mates. It's a cert ?.

5.) 02 Jun 2023 07:44:28
Mount and Rice would be incredible additions. Although I think we are likely to see Mount and a free move for Rabiot as we will need to invest big elsewhere in our striker options.

Ideally we also need a CB and possible GK. feels like full backs can wait for another season with Dalot signing a new deal and AWB playing well. I’d expect to see DDG sign a deal and we buy a decent back up - I’m all in for Meslier.

6.) 02 Jun 2023 08:00:34
The most Manchester United thing to do at the moment would be spending the whole summer negotiating the price with Chelsea for Mason Mount, only to agree to the original asking fee on deadline day.

7.) 02 Jun 2023 08:38:21
mount hasn't impressed or stood out as expected and would/ could be expensive and i cannot see the value rice brings at the prices mooted- good player but not a player you could realistically say is worth 100m . Personally like sms and think his price would be favourable plus possibly rabiot on a free? gk onana or costa with kim cb . If we can get bailly, maguire, williams and telles as well as henderson and mctominay off the books it could well finance the ins and wages leaving transfer budget for the much needed striker/ cf position.

8.) 02 Jun 2023 09:51:13
Mount and Rice replacing McTominay, Fred and Van De Beek with Mainoo perhaps getting some small opportunities is an almost ideal scenario for our midfield.

It would give us 5 excellent options in midfield with a good balance between defensive and attacking players.

Undoubtedly it'd be a huge outlay, particularly with a striker still being so badly needed. However, very few good sides lack depth in midfield and it has hurt us this season when Casemiro and Eriksen have both missed time.

9.) 02 Jun 2023 09:56:49
I think the two midfield signings will be Rabiot and Mount.
A top class number 9 and Kim from Napoli.

10.) 02 Jun 2023 10:30:39
Please not Meslier as a GK option. None of the Leeds players coated themselves in glory in the last few months but he had some right stinkers. Unless the coaching staff are convinced he has whatever these mystical skills are ten Hag wants in his keepers, avoid avoid avoid.

11.) 02 Jun 2023 11:45:53
At the moment if I was to guess our signings I'd say Mount, Rabiot, Højlund and a keeper most likely Diogo Costa.

12.) 02 Jun 2023 13:18:54
Shappy, swap Mount for Rice and throw in Kim and that would be a perfect window.

Let's go through our team, Onana, has settled after a shake start, keep. Dalot, great attitude but not good enough at RB keep for now. Maguire sell, Lindelof sell, Varane sell, Kambala one for the future keep. Martinez keep. Shaw good when fit and can ply CB too as cover, keep. Malacia, looks promising keep. AWB, great tackle but poor positioning, squad player keep for now. Casemero and Ericsen past it, sell. Bruno great worker but needs to more disciplined, keep. Mount needs some game time, keep, Mainoo so much potential, keep. Garnacho, keep, Hojlund, potential keep. Antony good worker, keep for now. Then Rashford, just don't know, maybe another manager can get him back to his best, keep for now. McTominay a squad player, keep for now. ETH not up to it, sack. Along with the players out or loan injured (Sancho, DVB, Martial) we have about 8 -10 players to get rid of, hard to do in the summer but we need to get them out before we can rebuild with young hungry players. Big summer coming, hopefully.

In all my four decades of following Manchester United, I've never seen a clear-out on the scale being spoken about by the majority of fans.
It always used to be a predictable couple in, couple out, maybe 3-4 each way lol.
But I agree. Lots to move on for various reasons, some more likely than others due to contract situations and salary demands.
The squad needs to be trimmed for sure. As for signings, we need at least 4-5 players able to start and play in whatever the style is.
The trouble is it's not clear who's going to be in charge, and therefore what that style or his requirements are.

2.) 14 Apr 2024 18:49:49
With international tournament and the changes above ten hag I just don't see there being that much change to the first team. So many fringe players to deal with that I can see a lot of these players back next season.

3.) 14 Apr 2024 18:53:46
I've seen Bournemouth Brentford and Brighton go though our team recon enough is enough.

4.) 14 Apr 2024 19:56:56
We need a massive reset and if that means a season of mediocrity but the big earners and wastrels have left it is a step in the right direction

We been absolute pony for 10 years so another season of mediocrity won’t make much difference

The first name who has to go is Rashford

If we got rid of Rashford Casemiro and Varane that’s a million pounds a week saved on wages plus Martial and Eriksen that’s another 400,000 a week saved

Sick to death of these players.

5.) 14 Apr 2024 21:11:29
Dalot - get rid. An absolute liability. Can't defend. No awareness of danger.

6.) 14 Apr 2024 21:18:54
Don't think there will be any takers Blackpool.
Perhaps Chelsea or arsenal but highly doubtful.

7.) 14 Apr 2024 22:14:34
Jodler I sometimes think the same then on other periods of form I also see some good attributes.
Tactically he is beings asked to fill in to cm when we attack so he is then not where he needs to be when play breaks down which it inevitably does due to everything being off the cuff so it leaves him badly exposed.
Garnacho took the wrap for it yesterday which may be the case in eths plan but the plan is not sustainable obviously. Its his style. It's his vision. It's the same sort of madcap defending that allowed spurs win a cl semi v his ajax team.

8.) 14 Apr 2024 22:18:52
Dalot out and anthony. and that keeper I don't care how much he improved he isn't good enough going forward. And the talk about Southgate surely Jim Bob has more sense I'd rather keep eth.

9.) 14 Apr 2024 22:37:23
Tumbleweed, Dalot does make some important positive contributions. He is a Premiership player after all so he must have some things going for him. But we have to remember that he is a right back. Full backs are required to be competent in many areas but their priority is to be able to defend. He just simply does not have a defender’s instincts.

10.) 15 Apr 2024 11:20:02
Funny how we all disagree on certain players. For now I'd keep the following. The rest can all do one as far as I'm concerned:

Onana
Bayindir
Dalot
Kambwala (send on loan)
Martinez
Mount
Mainoo
Garnacho
Hoijland.

11.) 15 Apr 2024 11:23:11
Dalot is a keep for me. He shows passion for the badge, puts effort in and is diverse enough to cover RB and LB if needed. Its unrealistic to expect an improvement in every position over the next few windows, so I would rather keep a player that wants to play and ship off the ones that don't.

In a more stable, consistent side I think he would be a lot better.

12.) 15 Apr 2024 12:01:06
I forgot to include Shaw although his injuries are becoming concerning.

13.) 15 Apr 2024 13:40:23
Jodler I agree on the instincts it's not natural for him. That's down to coaching I think.

14.) 15 Apr 2024 14:05:17
Shaws checked out again after being asked to lay off the maccy D’s.

15.) 15 Apr 2024 14:30:28
Mainoo, Garnacho and Højlund are the only one's I'd say definitely have a long term future at our club.

You then have players like Onana, Dalot, Martinez and Mount who I think probably have a long term future at the club, but due to varying issues from poor form, injury and question marks on where or how they fit in the team, means that they aren't dead certainties for me. Although all should be kept for the next couple of seasons or so.

You then have Rashford, Bruno and Shaw. Players who can be key players, but have either struggled for form or injury. These three should be kept for now, but very much next season should see them playing for their futures. Bruno turns 30 at the start of next season, so isn't a long term option. While Shaw turns 29 this summer and is likely to soon start to decline due to his game relying on his physical traits, they are also likely to decline earlier due to his injuries. So he isn't a long term option. Rashford could be here longer, but that might be because we can't find someone to take on his wages more than due to his performances and impact on the team. Although if he can get his head straight and back to his best form he can be one of the best forwards in the league.

That's 10 players who should be here next season, with 3 of them probably playing for their futures.

The rest need to be shipped out over the next couple of summers. Players like AWB, Maguire, McTominay and Antony will probably get a stay of execution as we can't shift everyone and while none of them are good enough, they can at least contribute to the side as squad options. Players like Amad and Malacia also probably stay yo see if they can get fit and prove themselves to be useful either at first choice or squad options.

That's another 6 taking it to 16 who should form part of the squad next season.

Everyone else should be moved on if a club can be found for them. Not all will, but we need to move as many of them as possible.

16.) 15 Apr 2024 16:27:57
MancMan,

Shaw has always been injury prone. Last season was his most consistent season as he managed to stay fit.

If the club got a good offer for him in the summer, I'd sell him.

17.) 15 Apr 2024 17:15:47
I’m not even convinced by Rasmus, maybe as number 2 striker but he got a hell of a lot to learn, running all over showing willing is no more than Weghorst done, he is nowhere near the required level to lead the line at a club who supposed to be top 4…. Yes he gets little service, but don’t look great at what he does do, I would like to see if he develops under a proper coach but to me he not progressed this season at all.

18.) 15 Apr 2024 21:25:02
Don't we all demand a complete clear out of players when they fail to perform, think we did this last a few years ago with Ole, and then Jose and LVG.

09 Apr 2024 16:25:02
Think Willy Kambala can be just as good if not better that Bratwaith, him and Licha have speed and bit of aggression about them. Hopefully Maguire, Lindelof, Varane will be sold, Evans released, so another young CB, maybe the lad from Nice. More money for a top midfielder, when Casemero, Ericsen Sancho, DVB are sold on. Then we had
Get rid of Martial too, plenty to leave, freeing lots of wages.

Recon2

{Ed025's Note - i may be biased Recon but i dont think Kambala is anywhere near the standard of Branthwaite at this point but he certainly has potential mate..

1.) 09 Apr 2024 17:22:26
Kambwala looked assured and cleanly has all the tools to be a great CB, but it's far too soon to be measuring him up against someone like Branthwaite who has spent a year abroad and was one of the best CB's in the Eredivisie last season. He then came back to Everton this season and has been one of the best CB's in the EPL this season, certainly the best CB aged 21 or younger.

He has everything you'd want in a CB and he's putting it together and performing every week. Strong, quick, mobile, intelligent, great reading of the game, technically sound, great in the air.

I'd genuinely struggle to find a significant weakness in his game, obviously there is room for improvement, but there is nothing he really struggles with.

Give him a couple of years and he'll easily be the best English CB around. He's also left footed, which is a rare commodity for a CB.

I'd easily have him as our top CB target this summer, he'd nail down a starting spot with us probably for the next decade.

I think Kambwala will be a very good CB, and I'd either keep him as our 4th choice option next season or send him out on loan to play regularly.

For me Branthwaite and another (probably Todibo) should be the first two signings we make this summer. Sort the defence out and have something to build on for the next 3-5 years at least.

{Ed025's Note - he would be a great signing for Utd Shappy, the guy is class mate and with us having to sell before the 30th of June because of our commitment to PSR he may be a bit cheaper than you think..

2.) 09 Apr 2024 18:53:21
Ed025, you have a real gem of a player in Branthwaite, it's a shame you probably won't be able to keep hold of him for as long as most Toffees would like. Also that he'll probably go for less than he should given Everton's financial issues.

I think he should be United's first signing this summer, I can see a deal for something like 45m originally with 10-15m in add-ons. It won't be anywhere near the 70m being banded about in the press as I don't think there will be a massive amount of competition for him.

Liverpool can't really buy a player from Everton. Arsenal have no need with Saliba and Gabriel clearly first choice. City have the funds, but don't really have a need to spend big on a left footed CB having bought Gvardiol and Ake over the last few summers. Chelsea have bought Badiashile, Fofana and Disasi over the past couple of years, while also having Colwill and Chalobah. Which really just leaves us and Newcastle. Newcastle also have a few PSR issues and might need to sell to buy anyone for a significant fee. Which barring City just going crazy and buying a third left footed CB (which I wouldn't totally rule out) means United will have a fairly clear run at Branthwaite.

Which is utterly crazy given the talent and the potential of the lad.

Him, Mainoo and Højlund would give United a solid spine for the next decade. Get another CB and a top class CDM (both in their early to mid twenties with a few years top level experience) and United will have the base of a potentially great side.

We also have some really talented young academy lads who if nurtured well could become really top class players. It's been a pretty tough decade as a United supporter, but green shoots are starting to spring up. We aren't back yet, but we do seem to be starting to put the building blocks in place for a return to the top.

{Ed025's Note - i think he will go Shappy and possibly to United, but i feel it will be around £60m mate, we need to get £80-90m in sales before the end of june to satisfy PSR but i hope we dont get railroaded to sell on the cheap, you do have some fine young players and Jarrad would certainly enhance the United side but i still think you need to get rid of some dross you have before you can become competitive i feel..

3.) 09 Apr 2024 19:09:42
I'm really struggling to see what others are seeing in Branthwaite. Each time I've watched him I've seen a defender constantly on the floor. The last time being the fixture against Newcastle when he made a feeble attempt to tackle Isak, ended up on the floor again, and at fault for the goal.

I think he's had a poor season. Likely I'm in the minority here, and happy to be proved wrong, I just haven't caught him on a good day and Everton fans are far better positioned then me to pass judgement.

As for being one of the best CBs in the PL this season, not from what I've seen. Struggling to find a weakness? Going to ground too easily is certainly one.

{Ed025's Note - maybe you have not seen the best of him Wazza, yes he got done by Isak but hes young and bound to make the odd mistake, but let me tell you this mate the guy is excellent and whoever gets him will be getting a top top player who will improve even further and become a top international imo..

4.) 09 Apr 2024 19:42:48
Fair enough Ed like I say I haven't seen much of him, but when I have, he spent too much time on the floor for my liking. I'm sure I'm in the minority and will come round eventually, perhaps I've caught him on a couple of off days.

I'm not sure if the figures in the newspapers are true as they rarely are, but it sounds like there's a deal to be done for interested parties. I would assume if he's got that much potential we won't be the only club after his signature either.

{Ed025's Note - you certainly wont Wazza, but as Shappy pointed out you seem the right fit because most of the teams who can afford him already have decent options already on their books mate..

5.) 09 Apr 2024 20:35:16
One game. I remember Tuanzebe having a stormer against PSG and looked what happened to him. Willy had a great game, but it's just 1 game.

6.) 09 Apr 2024 21:10:54
He may well turn out to be a top top player but he is some way off that right now. Positional awareness not always that good and can be turned fairly easily. He is young and playing in a position where traditionally late 20s and early 30s is when defenders are really mature. Can Utd afford to wait for two or three years whilst he progresses?

7.) 09 Apr 2024 23:29:51
Salford I think that's exactly the sort of player we need to be looking at. Players that can peak in 2 years time.
Of course we can't ignore the here and now but when you look back at our cb signing over the years lots of huge fees at the time but very rarely the finished article.
Pallister stam Ronnie Johnson, rio vidic. We did spend big money on some flops too I'll grant you.
But in the main I would like to see younger hungry players that can grow together and a cb like him could be a regular fot the next 10 years.

8.) 10 Apr 2024 00:10:33
Not seeing the Branthwaite love-in myself. I admit I haven't watched Everton a huge amount but on a few occasions I have he's been well done more than once. But I get that his profile ie age, nationality make him appealing to a side looking to the future.
Common sense suggests we are not going to go nuts and simply clear out all of Maguire, Varane, Evans and Lindelof. We need at least 5 CBs. The debate for me should be which of Maguire or Varane go. There's this misconception that Varane is always injured, yet he's started more Prem games than any of those names. But he'll be earning more too and command a reasonable fee, and would be in demand.
I still get the shivers from SFA waxing lyrical over Phil Jones upon signing him from Blackburn. A future England and Utd captain, he said.

9.) 10 Apr 2024 02:10:41
Branthwaite would be decent. He poses the qualities of Maguire and Stone without their weaknesses.

{Ed001's Note - that is not quite true, he does have some weaknesses. He can be rash, his positioning can be suspect at times and he lacks a burst of pace to keep up with quick forwards. I don't mean he is slow, he is no slouch, but he can't accelerate as quickly as the forwards he faces most weeks. Very good player, but he needs a guiding hand alongside him still.}

10.) 10 Apr 2024 02:31:38
Is varane put of contract at the end of the year? If so I think we have option to extend, but not for a sale value, only to use him. So if he goes I think we get no fee, but save $300k a week in wages. McGuire is on over $200k a week, but would have a sales value. McGuire also doesn't fit the style of football we want to play. Maybe everton could take McGuire and give us braithwait?! ?.

11.) 10 Apr 2024 08:22:18
Where and why has this fashion come from? "Top top player". It's nonsense speak. Much like starting a sentence with, "So". Or ordering in a bar or restaurant, "Can I get. ".
Meh. I'm old, leave me alone. ?.

12.) 10 Apr 2024 08:22:22
Braithwaite has a really high ceiling he is really highly regarded by a lot of people and I totally agree that his season abroad accelerated his development. Still not the finished article but well ahead of the curve for a young cb.

@ ajh,
I'd like to see willy play from now till the end of the season. Varane is on his way so use if we need to but I'd like to see will given the opportunity to play his way into next season squad as cb no 3 or 4 or a game or 2 at rb to see how he gets on. I liked a lot of what I've seen so far from him. Strong in the tackle, brave on the ball, quick and eager to give everything he has in the tank. Confidence is not lacking in him either. Tuanzebe your right never quite made it always injured and perhaps struggled to deal with the mental side of the game.

Martinez is one of my favourite players out of the current squad but he can't stay fit for one reason or another and with the way he plays he and be missing games so it's essential that we have better cover at cb. 2 in 3 (varane Evans maguire) out ideally for me . Lindelof might hang around as we have taken the option of next season so he will leave for free at the end of next season. Martinez 2 new guys willy and lindelof would be deep enough.

New guys? I see names linked all the time and I know little about most of them but Braithwaite is one I'd love to see come in. Hard to see where the money will come from to get the fixes done.
Outside of mainoo we have no midfield at all. Cas erikson vdb hannibal amrabat all likely to leave. Leaving mainoo mount Bruno and mctom. 2 cm needed there.
200m for 2 cb and 2 cm that's brie you get to the attack or address the full back spots.

If Greenwood maguire cas vdb fernandez ericksen hannibal pellistri bring in 100m between them all be doing well. AWB mctom Bruno rashford are all players that could be sold generating profit on their book values (Greenwood and maguire fall into that category too) I would not be surprised to see one or more of those 4 sold.

Varane Evans amrabat Heaton all out of contract 500k pw saved on wages there it will take some time to get the hideous costs under control. I see credit cards and chauffeur cars withdrawn from the execs in 18 months time the running of the football side of the club will be unrecognisable and I mean that in a good way.
The holiday camp is closing down we are starting on the road to excellence we are at the bottom of the hill however with some really good youth players coming through I feel very confident for the future. Immediate term will be rocky perhaps but that's OK as long as we are making ground. I'm very confident that once we build some good momentum we will make big strides.

13.) 10 Apr 2024 13:03:59
I would love to see Kambwala get a proper run of games until the end of the season. We won't know just how good he is until he's given a chance, just like Braithwaite got at Everton.
Just look how Mainoo has evolved just because he was given a chance due to our injuries in midfield. Now he's the first name on the team sheet every week.
He's exactly what we need at the moment, fast, aggressive, 100% commitment in every thing he does and so what if he makes the odd mistake. Your learn from your mistakes.
On his last performance he should start at Bournemouth on Saturday.

14.) 10 Apr 2024 17:29:12
Fizz, I feel you, mate. Especially the 'so' thing ?.

15.) 11 Apr 2024 08:03:46
It is very irritating Noucamp.

16.) 11 Apr 2024 12:07:59
Nonsense speak? What does that mean I think there is a grammatical error there in that phrase. Particularly when referring to a written word.
Top top post.

Well today was never about us getting Champions league really, we just wanted to stop them getting 3 points. I thought the young lad at CB was topclass and definitely one for next season with Martinez, fast aggressive and passion. I can see the points being made by pundits, Bruno runs everywhere leaving lots of space for the opposition and Maguire is just slow and has no position sence.

Our back line play so deep because of him there are huge gaps when try to press. Again ETH has to decide what he wants, to press or not, if the team can't do it why persist, if everyone isn't pressing together it doesn't work. Today Liverpool could have been out of sight at half time.

1.) 08 Apr 2024 05:39:42
Maybe this is me being stupid, but the lad had a very good performance against a very good attacking liverpool side.
Luis Diaz and Nunez are not easy to play against.

He should be rewarded with another start and maybe even more.

Guys like Kobbie who are a class above, and Kambwala are what will save us money in the transfer window.

I was mighty impressed with his performance. He looked very confident.

2.) 08 Apr 2024 06:12:53
I was saying that a few days ago. cb's play too deep and our mids are out of position quite often and gap between lines is sizable and easy for team to break on us.

Cas needs replacing as he does not have the pace to cover but even a faster more athletic 6 will struggle as there is too much space for any one player to cover. Was watching city do their thing against palace and their cb's are on the 40 yard line of the opposition half and they seem comfortable playing that way.

Our cb's main contribution is going long where their's are part of the attack and comfortable passing through the lines sitting in the opposition half. It might help if we had better ball possession but everyone in our team loses possession and why every team gets these breaks on us.

IMO we need to buy and spend on a couple of cb's and guys like maguire are good squad players and needed given how you are going to have injuries in this league. Not sure where to find the stats but I would think Bruno loses possession more most players in the league.

Finally. I think onana is a mint keeper and if we sort out the back 4 and some shape to our midfield and give him some protection, he will be great success at the club. enjoyed the game and watching klop moan afterwards made me laugh, shame we could not see it out for a win.

3.) 08 Apr 2024 07:00:03
I’ve been waiting to see if Kambwala had a performance like that in him, and there it was! The tackle he got booked for was a proper derby challenge, cleanly won the ball and got the crowd on our feet. He’s got into the crowd the past couple of fixtures too. The lad has personality and potential, but we need to remember he’s a decade away from his peak, so we have to be patient.

Mainoo again, wow. Asking for the ball, and then putting it in the top corner, in front of the stretford in that fixture. Leadership qualities. Some player he is going to be.

4.) 08 Apr 2024 09:42:14
Imo onana won us the point yesterday. Couple of key saves at nil all and 1 nil down.
I have been critical but he has won us some points recently. Fair play to him and the coaches he has really stepped up his form.
Mainoo will get the headings but the game could and should have been it of sight but onana saved us.
Big willy was great too he could well playing himself into the squad and save us a fortune. I'd play him over lindelof evans and maguire everyday of the week.
Mcallister is a class act best player in the pitch by a mile.
Nice to get a point and gives us a little momentum heading towards the cup semi and it keeps us a point ahead of West ham in the race for 6th and that europa league place.

5.) 08 Apr 2024 09:51:28
A couple of saves from onana today were as important as kobe's goal.
I've been fairly critical of him but he has been much improved and is clawing back his points deficit from early in the season by gaining us points at the moment. Full credit to him and coaches. His head seems to be clearer since the afcon and he is earning his stripes.

I think our 2nd half performance warranted a draw and Liverpool will feel hard done by for not converting their dominance into goals. Really sloppy in the final 3rd no where near as fluid as arsenal or City at the moment imo.
McAllister is a class act a really top player.

Big willy was excellent and may well play his way into the squad next year and save us a fortune. He is brave, very quick and comfortable on the ball I really like what I saw from him today. He played every minute like a fan expects.
Good result pity we couldn't hang on for the win but it was a rash tackle and he won the penalty well.

We have to keep some sort of momentum going into the semi final and a draw today is a good start to that.

6.) 08 Apr 2024 10:54:16
Tumble I think you're right, Kwambala could well be one of the two mooted CBs we'll be looking for. Probably Branthwaite or Todibo as the other. Guess it all depends who leaves, difficult to say but I think um big Willy has definitely elevated himself into contention to start any game.

7.) 08 Apr 2024 11:18:03
Big willy is on the rise spenno.

8.) 08 Apr 2024 11:33:08
Delighted for Big Willy. Love how he gets involved with the fans too, real confidence for a young lad. I’ve seen a couple of suggestions about his development and think worth exploring. If we could get Todibo in and loan Big Willy for the season to Nice, he would get the game time and experience he needs. We will sign a CB in the summer and you hope Martinez would be fit so game time will be limited, if we can avoid the amount of injuries. Appreciate there are lots of games to be played but a loan to Marseille really helped Saliba. Evans will go in summer I assume and Lindelof or Maguire but can’t see Evans, Maguire, Lindelof and Varane all leaving so you’d assume we’d have Martinez/ NEW CB/ Varane, Maguire or Lindelof. Which would make Big Willy 4th choice so even less game opportunity. But certainly would not be disappointed if he was one of 4 CB’s for us next season.

9.) 08 Apr 2024 12:31:00
Varane is out of contract in the summer ports
Evans is done I'd say was useful for this season I doubt he'll get another year.
Lindelof has 1 year left he might see it out or we may get an offer from somewhere for him.
Maguire likewise entering his last year but we have an option for a further year.
A loan would be great for willy but agree on saliba. Time will tell.

10.) 08 Apr 2024 14:04:55
We have a few young players who have stepped up this season and potentially have saved us millions on new players for those positions this summer.

Mainoo has been phenomenal and has been our brightest spark this season. He continues to impress and show what he's capable of. While he had a quieter game over all yesterday, the way he demanded the ball, turned and smashed it into the top corner to give us the lead shows his elite mentality at just 18 years old. Maybe it hyperbole, but I think if he steers clear of injury he will go down as one of our greatest midfielders.

Garnacho has also shown that actually, at least for the next year or two that the RW might be his best position. It has opened up his game and made him less focused on cutting in to shoot. Which has made him a far more dangerous and creative player for us. I feel that as a LW player he is still very much an impact player like last season, too one dimensional but very effective off the bench against tiring legs. But on the right he offers a treat both by going wide or by cutting in, and he plays with his head up much more, looking to create for his teammates. Yet he also sees shooting opportunities by having his head up, rather than just driving for the same part of the pitch to unleash a right footed shot towards the far post.

I actually think we could do without a RW signing this summer due to Garnacho's break out this season in that position. I'd rather look for a forward who can play across the frontline who could be a back up/ competition for Hojlund, as well as able to play wide when needed.

Finally in the short amount of time Kambwala has had he has been impressive every time. He doesn't make many mistakes, is strong, quick, has good technique. As it stands Martinez is the only CB who we can be sure will be here next season. Varane is out of contract, Evans is looking to retire, while Lindelof and Maguire could and probably should both look to leave. With neither being good enough or well suited to how we are looking to play.

With that in mind it seems like we will make at least two maybe even three CB signings this summer. Given Martinez's injury issues this season even if one of Maguire or Lindelof stay one CB signing will not be enough.

I'd be inclined to sign two CB's to compete with Martinez and keep Kambwala as the 4th choice option. I could see us signing both Branthwaite and Todibo who are the two most linked players to us. Four CB's of Brantwaite, Todibo, Martinez and Kambwala for next season look like a well balanced and progressive bunch capable of playing the style of football we ant to see at Old Trafford.

Season petering out now, can see some effort at home games for the fans and full effort in the FA Cup. The uncertainty around the manager and many players is a big issue. Not making Europe has such big consequences financially and in attracting players, its essential, but many of these players don't care, its shocking really. EtH needs to grow a pair now a drop the lazy ones, l can see why there is division in the squad, some players appear untouchable, must be so frustrating for others.

We still have a cup to play for top 4 was gone long ago to be honest.
Let's hope we can find a way to beat Coventry so we have a cup final to look forward to.
We will be big favourites against Coventry but I'll be going to the game in hope rather than in expectation.

2.) 31 Mar 2024 15:47:43
Even if we beat Coventry the likelihood of us beating City is virtually zero

Bottle job blaggers.

3.) 31 Mar 2024 17:59:40
You always have a punchers chance in a final. If go in with hope??.

4.) 31 Mar 2024 20:01:39
The think is Tumbleweed you at least have to throw a punch
Rashford is scared of his own shadow.

5.) 01 Apr 2024 09:44:16
BR the thought of watching Rashford up against Walker again is worrying.

6.) 01 Apr 2024 13:55:28
Wazza
It doesn’t matter who Rashford is up against it seems they all get the better of him
I think he is my least ever favourite player at Utd
I can’t stand him and have never rated him but we’ll be stuck with him.

19 Mar 2024 16:13:20
Jesus l hope the media chatter about Southgate being serious managerial option is rubbish, l really don't rate him at all.

1.) 19 Mar 2024 16:53:41
Apparently he is the overwhelming first choice of everybody at the club. If that’s true, we are all doomed.

Again, if true, this new football department they are putting together are no better than what came before.

I read they want an English manager, there’s far better choices out there than Southgate if that’s what they want.

Maybe they are leaking this story so when they appoint who they really want, i imagine Potter, there’s not as much of a backlash as at least it’s not Southgate.

I can’t figure out what Southgate has done to even be close to being considered. He’s not won anything. Struggles to beat any of the top teams. Doesn’t really coach players as he only sees them for a week or two. Hardly an in game taxtical genious, goes 1-0 up and then tries to hold on to it, to eventually lose.

Southgate’s first signing would probably be Jordan Henderson!

Rant over.

2.) 19 Mar 2024 17:55:58
Recent quote from SJR that he admires the patience arsenal showed with arteta.

I think they would be mad to get rid of EtH, they need to stick with him for a year and see how we do. Plenty done to deserve another season in my eyes.

3.) 19 Mar 2024 18:02:50
Southgate would be a disaster.
Had a feeling it would be him for a while, thought he'd get the job before Ten Hag.
Seems the sort of stupid decision utd make.

4.) 19 Mar 2024 18:08:20
Fek me Sam Allerdyce, Redknapp, et al are all better options than Southgate. Jeez Tumbleweed is a better option and none of us need worry about celebrating win. ?.

5.) 19 Mar 2024 18:28:49
I’m not a huge fan of ETH. But I’ll happily give him a 10 year contract if it means we can avoid Southgate!

6.) 19 Mar 2024 19:19:32
People know my opinion of Ole Gunnar Southgate, he must not be anywhere near this club. Our rivals have just stopped laughing at Moyes, at Ole, if Ratcliffe brings in Southgate, then maybe some of you will come around to a full sale only.

Laughing stock if we appoint Southgate, that simple.

7.) 19 Mar 2024 19:21:15
Who do they mean by "everyone at the club"?

Would that be the CEO who is on gardening leave from his previous post and cannot work for the club currently?

Or would that be the new DoF who is also currently unable to work for the club?

Or do they mean Doris the tea lady and Dave the groundsman?

Who is it at the club who likes him? What are they basing that on? Have they even met him or had a football discussion with him? And finally what sort of impact would these people even have in hiring the next manager (whenever that might be)?

Because to me, it seems that the two most important people in terms of hiring a new manager (the CEO and the DoF) are currently not in their roles at the club.

I'd chalk this down to typical media BS written during the footballing lull which is an international break.

8.) 19 Mar 2024 20:14:52
Speaking of SJR, Another tidbit from the interview if you take it at face value is he does not think its smart to splash crazy money on players who are already there and wants to find the next big thing before they are big.

Obviously every club wants that and easier said than done but players like two Benfica boys Neves and Silva would be out of the question if that's the direction they want to go given their price tags. Shame really like both of them.

9.) 19 Mar 2024 20:18:39
Well debunked Shappy.

There’s a lot of red top rubbish being posted, can we bring back the posts celebrating Sunday's win? ?.

10.) 19 Mar 2024 19:31:52
A disaster if this is even remotely true…. Just when we hoped that things post Glazers would improve.

11.) 20 Mar 2024 09:37:52
I will eat my hat if we appoint Southgate, it won't happen. Just a slow news week because it's internationals.

12.) 20 Mar 2024 09:49:09
Lads it’s the Daily Star. Yesterday’s headline was, “Nude with big tits bites dog! ” Come on!

13.) 20 Mar 2024 09:57:15
I'm sure Berrada hasn't so much as taken a call from SJR in the last two months. He's probably sat at home playing Roadblox right now, rather than planning United's summer :D
In all seriousness though the man himself Sir Jim has called out how several great managers have already failed over the past decade, therefore it must be the system around them. If Utd fail to qualify for even the Europa I guess there's a chance he goes but otherwise I'd be surprised if he isn't given the chance to go again under this new regime.

14.) 20 Mar 2024 09:59:52
Zidane, Inzaghi, De Zerbi, Potter, Lopetegui, Amorim now Southgate. All have been stated as the favourite of the people at the club over the past month or so. Give it time and and the list will grow infinitum.
I guess the written press need to keep producing reports and as it is international week it was just Southgates turn. Connect the dots that he has a relationship with Dan Ashworth and it all makes sense!

15.) 20 Mar 2024 10:31:03
Exactly Brad, no doubt the media will link us with Klopp before the end of the summer!

16.) 20 Mar 2024 12:46:38
Patrick, can you please upload the images for proof?

17.) 20 Mar 2024 18:40:56
Brad76

I would agree with you but the press have had a field day with our manager getting sacked or replaced for weeks now.
Ineos have been quite vocal about many things but not a single statement of support on this topic.

The sad thing is Klop finished 5th last year dealing with plenty of injuries and an aging midfield that leaked goals. They went out and bought 4 mids in the summer and dealt with it.

Eth is getting crucified for the same thing this year with us. People will say klop had a lot of credit in the bank and in my view this managers first season was also credit in the bank as he achieved more than I expected or Klop in his first season.

Ineos have gone through 4 managers in 5 years at nice and admit to having made mistakes but have learnt from it. let's hope if we make a change its not a melon coming in and more importantly he does not stunt the development of the younger players in the squad.

It was coming last season he really dipped in the later games, l thought it was tiredness from the pace of the Premiership, but he got plenty or rest with suspensions. Hopefully he finds form again, but needs a worker with him, need to play 4-2-3-1 against strong teams, but looking at tonight it might be our best formation all the time.
