I know a guy who's hair dresser looks like Paul Scholes and he promises me that our new Director of football is going to be none other then Djemba Djemba!

Does anyone have any of this type of rumour anymore or has twitter stolen this away from us completely?

How dare you! I posted a club shop post in January re Bruno. Some fella took me seriously and ridiculed me for buying something from that shop.

Be careful mate. There’s a few numpties knocking about.

Got to say I'm quite embarrassed with part of our fan base who are giving up on our new manager already when he was the Messiah a few weeks ago.

If anyone thinks our current woes have anything to do with the manager is the biggest joke I've heard.

He has walked into a club where the highest profile player is throwing his toys out the pram, he can't change the team around because our squad is too weak (and no you don't throw kids into a toxic atmosphere like this), half the team don't want to run and our negotiating team is as useful as Luke Shaw's dietitian!

It's 2 games in and it's been dreadful and will get worse when the Scousers come knocking but we wanted modern football and that is what ETH plays. These players are not going to learn technique overnight and we can't buy a whole new 11 (seemingly we can barely buy a first team player) so he needs time.

Direct the blame where it needs to go and protest on Monday against our scumbag owners and stop blaming the manager. That's what they want.

LFC fan coming in peace.

While I agree with what you’re saying Obi surely you have to place some blame at the feet of ETH. He needs time of course, but the response from the players hasn’t been there and IMO you need to hold the manager responsible for that ?‍♂️.

I’m not starting the slagging cause I’ve supported Liverpool long enough to know how it feels. and I fully expect you guys to respond with a performance at old Trafford next week. If these lads getting paid serious money can’t be fired up for that game you’ll know somethig is seriously wrong!

2.) 15 Aug 2022 18:53:14
From what I'm reading on the site we have a couple of regulars who aren't writing EtH off but reserving judgement until they see more from him. While also saying the last two games have been a bit of a disaster. Which I think is fair.

Then there are a few new posters (or solitary poster with several accounts) who seem to be trying to beat the drum and start an anti-EtH sentiment.

Anyone who has judged a manager after 2 games, especially in the context of us coming off the back of our worst ever EPL season and the utter shambles that is the rest of the club. Then Frankly they are either a WUM or not playing with a full deck.

There are well respected posters who are able to say they aren't blown away with EtH's first couple of team selections, or that they hoped he would have the side playing better already without writing the guy off.

A sensible approach. Nothing wrong with being skeptical, we have had several false dawns after all.

Personally I think he's a very good manager and seemingly everyone who works within the game really rate him as a top manager. Whether he's a success at United remains to be seen. If he's properly backed and well supported I think he can be a success. My concerns lie more with the club that have consistently undermined managers and not backed them as they should, making their job practically untenable.

Will their actions throw another manager to the wolves? Hopefully not, but let's wait and see.

3.) 15 Aug 2022 18:56:03
Top post Obi.

4.) 15 Aug 2022 19:20:04
Not sure anyone is blaming EtH, we all know the situation he has walked into though.

Having said that I do believe he has made a couple of miscalculations, thinking he could coach the shower that is our team to be better players (part of the resson they gave him the job) not listening to Ralf or taking any of his advice and continuing with Maguire as captain.

These are early days for him, he is finding his feet in a toxic situation. We all expected a bumpy season, at some point if he is the strong character we all believe he is he will drop Bruno, McFred, Rashford, Maguire and DDG and start playing the kids.

For me a midfield of Rabiot, DvB/ Iqbal and Eriksen, upfront Garnacho, Sancho and Ronaldo/ Martial, assuming we make no more signings after Mrs V son, would make a decent base on which to build next year.

5.) 15 Aug 2022 19:28:59
Im not giving up on him, its everything around him I've lost faith in. Alao know that those responsible will blame eth and he will ultimately pay the price for their mistakes. Its an all too familiar story for us.

6.) 15 Aug 2022 19:39:12
I agree but getting our as . handed to us by brentford off all teams is hard to swallow. We need to show some spine and fight. the manager need to bench guys who don't have the stomach for it. lose showing some fight. sending out the same wet noodles and some questionable team selection and tactics is not winning him any new fans.

7.) 15 Aug 2022 20:13:36
Nonsense, what is with this virtue signalling or policing of other peoples opinions.

Were not allowed to question Ten Hags decsions until a set date.

Were not allowed to question DDG vs Henderson because DDG was okay last season and henderson was outspoken in the media etc.

The fact is as ed001 suggested underneath, ETH looks like a fish out of water in the premier league:

1.) he says he's been surprised by how Brighton played long balls because they normally keep posessions, well that's the premier league, teams can adapt and play more than one way.

2.) he's signed a 5ft 9 centre back and the only people who bring up when his height is questioned are Fabio Cannavaro (one of the few CBs to win the balon d’or) and javier mascherano (played in arguably the great club side in football history) .

3.) in the past two games he's played eriksen as a striker and a holding midfielder when he's played 95% of his career as an advanced midfielder or out wide.

4.) He proposed the signing of Marko Arnautovic having worked with him at FC Twente, what was he thinking?

He needs to step up his game big time and make some big decisions.

If he's not getting the backing from the board he agreed to when he signed then he should walk come september like Antonio Conte would.

8.) 15 Aug 2022 20:38:35
I just can’t believe how a managers supposed to come in and be 100% switched on to a league that he’s never managed in. Pep looked like a fish out of water for crying out loud.

Give ten hag a chance. And aim all your toys at the poor poor ****** poor recruitment team throwing ten hag under a bus, headed by a woodwards ex right hand man buddy whos headed by parasite ownerS that make calls on something they have no idea what they are doing and sucking the club dry of every ounce of life it once had. Once them leeches have gone then this club will move forwards, until then winge about the manager and next manager all you like, they can't all be bad. This lot could make pep and klopp joint managership look like a sunday league outfit.

9.) 15 Aug 2022 21:16:24
He’s found himself smack bang in the middle of an almighty mess. DSG, you make some valid points regarding Eriksen and his selections but I very much doubt he could envisage that shambles on Saturday.
I have honestly never seen such a weak group of players. They crumble instantly something goes against them. Ten Hag would’ve spoken with Maguire before making the decision of captaincy and probably heard all the right things, he now has to grow some giant bollocks and switch things up or the pressure from media and some fans will be unbearable.
Shaw needs dropping, he’s a weak individual, and I’m not being cruel, he is just not up to it. Maguire the same. All his shouting and fist pumping AFTER a goal has been conceded kills me. I can’t bear to watch him one more game.
Bruno’s ineffective in this team, he’s a luxury player who would flourish again at PSG or Bayern. Rashford I’m lost for words how bad he’s become. McTominay and Fred no more needs to be said about them.
Lastly De Gea, he is past his peak unfortunately. He’s never been mentally strong, although he’s had some outstanding individual games over the 12 years. He comes out, speaks to the media, says sorry and puts his hands up (more so than at corners) which is admirable but we need to looking for a replacement.

10.) 15 Aug 2022 21:17:09
DSG, I don't think anyone is saying people can't question things.

It's more the people who have made up their mind that EtH isn't good enough and will fail after just two games.

Be skeptical, have your opinions, question decisions, tactics etc.

But surely it's too soon to have come to a definitive conclusion that EtH is a failure.

11.) 15 Aug 2022 21:31:42
he fought to keep VDB at Ajax- and yet he doesn't play him.

He played Eriksen as a defensive midfileder.

He bought and played a 5ft 9 CH against 6.ft 3 striker . plenty more of that to come btw . Brentford manager said of course we targetted him

He bought Malacia and doenst start him.

No, i'm not convinced.

12.) 16 Aug 2022 07:02:28
I said on appointment I will need to be convinced about ETH. No experience in a top league, it has shown in both his initial games and recruitment so far. It’s naive and displaying the same traits as Ole and Moyes, in thinking like they did at Everton and Cardiff. This is a different level and ETH needs to quickly up his game, 5 foot central defender shows a lack of understanding of what he has set foot into. Going after playmakers when we need something stronger in midfield and a lack of goal threat is very worrying.
First impressions are not good so far, the heralded coach must improve, look beyond players he has trusted before. I remain to be convinced and that has been my position since appointment.

13.) 16 Aug 2022 07:28:37
Red man. Utd are not shopping for the worlds best. Deal with it and let the manager do his job first.

14.) 16 Aug 2022 08:24:04
fzz

56 mill for central defender and 5 years guranteed contract is up there with the most expensive transfers for a defender in this window. You are right though he is not world class.

13 Jul 2022 08:21:37
The enigma that is Martial. Only one game but he looked leaner and fitter then we have seen him for years.

Maybe not being picked by Sevilla has made him realise that he needs to work harder to save his career.

One other thing to note is that we saw his best form when he worked under LVG, another possession based manager that gave clear instructions of what was needed.

Fingers crossed he turns things around as he could save us 50m on a replacement.

Obi Chong Kenobi

1.) 13 Jul 2022 09:04:32
He's so frustrating because he has everything in his locker.
This is a player that could score 20 goals a season if his application and attitude was right.
Lets hope that Ten Hag can get a tune out of him.

2.) 13 Jul 2022 09:30:49
90% of it will be down to him. ETH will coach him, give him instructions, ask him to work hard, make runs, chase back. that's all ETH can do . the rest is up to him and I hope but not confidently he will want to do it.

3.) 13 Jul 2022 09:37:51
Been here before and doubt it will be any different to what we have seen before. He is lazy and uninterested and only at the club because nobody is daft enough to buy him. Love to be proved wrong but doubt it.

4.) 13 Jul 2022 10:04:59
With chorlton on this one, I see nothing different. Always looks good in preseason. If he takes on board the very sound advice and instructions the coaching staff will look to give him then who knows. Don't get your hopes up though lads.

5.) 13 Jul 2022 10:21:11
I don't see why he can't have a role in the squad either up top or on the left, certainly has the technical attributes to do well under Ten Hag.

But relying on him to be a starter in the premier league would be foolish imo.

6.) 13 Jul 2022 10:39:06
A number of factors will impact Martial this season and hopefully in a positive way. He knows that he is on his last chance with the club and that his loan move to Sevilla did not work out so he has to take responsibility for where he currently is. Now been 3/ 4 managers that have questioned his attitude etc.
No club has come calling for him so there is no easy route out.
I think that he will work well with EtH and his style, yes he is not the most hard working but I think like Berbatov this can be over played by his appearance of not caring (dont get me wrong he has to change attitude) .
If he switches on and buys into the new system I think he can have a big part to play this season as part of a rotational front 3. The high press will require interchangable players otherwise they will be warn out so he will have plenty of opportunities up top or wide left.
If he can kick on then we have a very good player and will speed up our development.

7.) 13 Jul 2022 10:55:34
I've said many times over the past 10 days every player gets a clean slate from me.
Nobody in their right mind could have put up with ole or RR for that matter 2 of the worst managers in our entire history.
That said there a a few with clean slates that have very short rope with me.
Martial is 1
Maguire Shaw and Fred are the others who will be on my radar.
Rashford would be next
Can't stand martial Shaw or Fred to be honest. All for different reasons. But if eth gets them playing well all will be forgiven?
A bit like a couple of lads said above I'm very sceltical of martial and won't be holding my breath for consistent performances.
If ronaldo stays and we sign Anthony (yes neither far from certain) I'd be happy if martial never wore the Jersey again.

8.) 13 Jul 2022 15:55:33
Good list that Ken and i reckon you might have added Dalot to it by the end of August ?.

29 May 2022 16:43:24
I don't understand why people are excited about Darwin Nunes. The guys build up play is not existent and his first touch is horrific.

We slated Lukaku for having these issues and this guy is statistically worse on both fronts. Makes no sense as a signing for Ten Haag who plays a possession game.

Hope I'm wrong if he signs but just scoring goals does not make you what is needed.

Obi Chong Kenobi

1.) 29 May 2022 16:59:56
Hes a kid, one of the best goal scoring seasons last season, performed in the UCL

Pace, strenth and movement.

Lukaku was a donkey with guys not.

He along with the likes of haaland are the next line of strikers under the right manager and set up nunez will be fire.

2.) 29 May 2022 17:01:01
I was extremely impressed with him over the two legs against liverpool. Took his goals well, including the disallowed goals.

He works very hard, he’s direct and knows where the goal is. If he comes it’s because ten hag wants him and he knows more than us.

3.) 29 May 2022 17:15:10
He has a few rough edges, most 22 year olds have areas of their game that needs improvement.

I think he has a lot of good aspects that could make him a good signing. Plus EtH is a manager known for developing and improving players.

For me the biggest concern would be the price. We really can't afford to spend 100m on a player this summer.

The rumours are that if we can't sign a top young striker, then we might look to sign a RW instead. With Rashford possibly providing the cover to Ronaldo as a central striker next season.

Signing someone like Antony, Moussa Diaby or Raphinha to play on the right wouldn't be the worst thing.

The other option would be to sign a cheaper striker to play a back up role to Ronaldo. Maybe someone like Patrik Schick from Leverkusen or even Haller from Ajax.

4.) 29 May 2022 17:43:03
I wouldn’t like Raphinha. We’d have him and Bruno gurning in stereo.

5.) 29 May 2022 18:24:56
We have to sign a player that is going to play and impact the first team. So a versatile wide right forward/ Striker would be a good option. Would be great if Rashford could play there, but not sure we want to rely on him after last season form.

Nkunku, who was recommended by Ralf, could be an option. He creates AND scores, so might be a better balance with him supplying Ronny from wide right and added a goal threat.

Ronny, Rash, Sancho and Nkunku sharing the 3 forward positions seems pretty useful.

I don't really like the ideas of signing a player to play behind ronaldo. Ronny wants to play every minute of every game. But we clearly need back up. Better to sign a versatile forward than an out and out CF.

6.) 29 May 2022 20:36:54
Dodgy, Ronaldo shouldn't be playing more than one game a week.

While we'll be playing two games a week for most the season.

I wouldn't be against having Rashford play as our starting striker in all the cup games and let Ronaldo play all the league games.

I think Rashford's skill set could work well as a ST for EtH and how he plays. If coached well he could really kick on.

For me Rashford has had one bad season, the previous year he scored 19 and assisted 11. Which considering he was injured and played many games with pain killing injections is actually a very good return.

This season everything went wrong. He suffered disappointment with England, missed pre-season after having an operation, broke up with his long term girlfriend, then the whole Ole getting sacked and Rangnick coming in and half the squad giving up. It's just a terrible season and a line needs to be drawn under it.

7.) 29 May 2022 21:10:19
Forget rashford skill set let’s look at the whole package! His body language, his unwillingness to run, his unwillingness to work hard for our club, his attitude, the fact he looks like he’d rather be anywhere else than representing our club on the pitch!

8.) 29 May 2022 23:00:00
Good lick selling that to Ronaldo Shappy. Like I said, he wants to play every minute of every game. He will be very disruptive if EtH restricts that imo.

9.) 31 May 2022 01:14:27
Obi, just ask virgil van dijk about Nunez. He ran him ragged.

05 Dec 2021 10:50:10
If Rangnick took over after SAF, who would you think would be the biggest winners who were less successful under Moyes/ Vam Gaal?

2 I can think of are Rafael and Welbeck. Danny wasn't the best finisher of all time but when it came to pressing from the front in big games he was top notch.

Obi Chong Kenobi

1.) 05 Dec 2021 14:11:00
I'm not sure either would have made it. Danny was always injured and Rafael was too rash. The fact neither have pulled up trees since leaving United suggests we were right to let them go.

2.) 05 Dec 2021 17:45:37
Cleverley.

22 Nov 2021 10:44:01
Oh thank god, Woodward is delaying leaving the club to 'help' find us a manager replacement.

Good to see we've got a an expert sorting this.

Obi Chong Kenobi

1.) 22 Nov 2021 11:08:53
I read that rumour too. I guess he still uses the same method as before -pins the names on a dartboard before being blindfolded and given 3 darts?

2.) 22 Nov 2021 11:38:05
I was just going to ask if this rumour was true:
'Manchester United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward could delay his departure from the club as he oversees the appointment of the new interim and then their new long term manager'

At least it says (Could)

3.) 22 Nov 2021 11:44:01
There is a lot of clickbait knocking about today and will be for the next few weeks, best to take it all with a pinch of salt and just see what happens.

4.) 22 Nov 2021 12:07:30
Must be his turn anyway since Fergie got the last pick.

5.) 22 Nov 2021 16:25:16
bfbw, last time he threw darts blindfolded, one flew out of the window, hit Ole, who was visiting a few mates and the rest is history!

My thoughts exactly on Gakpo. Haven't seen anything but YouTube clips but he strikes as being as raw if not more raw then Depay was.

Looks like a low prem level player to me and hope we can do better.

He was the most in form player for the months he went to West Ham and should have stayed there. I know he has 6 months left on his contract but 12m is still a bargain for a very good player.

If Chelsea get Varane with their already very strong squad. We would really have to go some to stay ahead of them next season.

With the rest of the squad showing how reliant we have been on Maguire with their performance against Liverpool, I was hoping we would add an established name to our defence. Verane would have been perfect.

I think we're done buying older players on high wages. He's a fantastic player but you'd imagine he'd demand Sanchez type salary. Just doesn't seem to go along with Solskjaer's plan.

Even with the signings Tottenham have a far inferior squad to both Liverpool and City so cannot see them being consistent enough to challenge for the league.

Whether we can get above either of them will not be an easy task but the upside to having so many players on bad form is that form isn't permanent.

Now that we have a hands on manager giving them detailed tactics and instructions (neither Ole or Rangnick were present in training sessions) I am hoping the players will look less lost on the field and we will see resurgent form from at least a few of them.

Got to say I'm quite excited by this one. Was looking his game Vs Roma and he's a real live wire.

Seems to do everything at pace and puts plenty of balls in the box. We've all been asking for us to sign the players before their worth £50m+ and fingers crossed that we can develop him into that.

United Addict, I think he should drop Ronaldo. I know he's scored a lot of goals since coming in but against better teams we need a worker. Cavani does 95% of what Ronaldo does going forward and presses. The team plays better without him.

I still support Ole but it does get harder with every performance. Sometimes it does look like there is very little tactical plan. The problem is I haven't seen a single good performance all season. We've got some good results at times but even those games we haven't played well.
