Glasner confirms he's leaving Palace at the end of the seaspon.
I can see old SJR rubbing his hands with glee.
Won't cost him a penny to get and i can't see him (Glasner) commanding a high wage.
Perfect fit for the next 12-15 months until he gets the boot.
16 Jan 2026 15:07:35
Wouldn't look to much into it sim ancelloti tuchel naglesman iraola are all out of contract in the summer too all names that have came up.
16 Jan 2026 15:18:23
I hope your right Johnreese.
Tuchel would be my pick.
16 Jan 2026 17:07:38
Lots of good managers are out of contract in the summer.
I have to say i don't have any major preferences at the moment. There are a whole host of managers out there and i don't really have any strong argument as to how one would fare any better than another.
We have a few good players but huge deficiencies right throughout the squad.
16 Jan 2026 18:13:34
The only problem with the world cup managers is that they will be missing out on pre season planning and recruitment. I remember this being an issue for LVG in 2014.
Could see it being Di zerbi in the summer.
16 Jan 2026 19:25:49
I‘d fly to Paris and have a croissant with Luis Enrique.
16 Jan 2026 23:10:50
Id be happy with that dsg.
17 Jan 2026 08:23:42
Jonny8, he’d be my number one preference.
16 Jan 2026 14:20:41
Lots of news out of palace today. Guehi joining city (sigh) glasner leaving at end of the season, mateta will be sold. So would glasner and/or mateta appeal to anyone on here? I think if I asked that 6 months ago the answer might be different to now, seems his stock has fallen lately but he’s a very good manager with a record of success at both palace and Frankfurt.
To have 2 trophies for palace in the last 12 months is fantastic by any metric.
16 Jan 2026 14:57:13
I would say no and no, but what do I know? Glassener I don't really know enough about, but my preference would be Tuchel, I've warmed to him since he started with England.
Mateta doesn't inspire me, very hit and miss.
16 Jan 2026 15:09:37
It amazes me these so called pundits laud the glasners and iraola’s. Last 2 seasons crystal palace have finished 10/12 and bornemouth last 3 seasons 15/12/9 they are mid table managers.
We should not be looking at these types of managers. I can’t see it inspiring the squad or future players.
We need someone who has been there and done it consistently.
Glasner has won a europa league in Germany that’s it and some would say it’s a weak league. His league finishes in those 2 seasons 11/7. Mid table manager.
16 Jan 2026 15:10:00
No to glasner for me a poor manager and worse person.
Mateta would be good option to have with sesko for the right price we need another striker next year if we are serious about challenging on all fronts.
Somebody suggested ilyman ndiaye yesterday too which I thought was a great shout for the left wing.
Murillo from forest is also being linked who I wouldn't be against either.
16 Jan 2026 15:46:53
All about opinions ajh, I’m not sure I know what type of manager we need if I’m honest. We’ve tried all sorts and for the most part it hasn’t worked. Anyways it’s INEOS ideas that matter and I don’t think any of us could guess what they’ll do next.
16 Jan 2026 17:51:35
There are many better managers out there then Glasner, he done extremely well with no budget at palace, but we should not be entertaining him, but SJR done stupid things from day one up to now appointment of Carrick being the latest stupid idea, so he probably will continue to do so, it’s a tough team to support atm from top to bottom, mind you the way Ineos are losing money is it any wonder…You can buy Nice FC now for a few Francs as that’s the era Jim lives in.
16 Jan 2026 21:35:08
I think it's a bit rich to suggest that Glasner is a poor manager, and without knowing the guy personally and only going off of hearsay I'm not really in a position to judge him as a person.
However, as good a job as he has done at his previous clubs, I'm just not a fan of how his teams play. Far to reductive and pragmatic.

Well done to maz. Out there playing lb and in the final of the afcon hope he wins it now and gets back ready to play rb.
15 Jan 2026 22:30:25
Has to be our rb for rest of the season…. please god no more Dalot.
16 Jan 2026 09:25:33
Tim_99 - my thoughts exactly. we can't have Dalot in that team anymore he's a complete liability.
16 Jan 2026 14:10:18
Not a chance Maz replaces Dalot.
19 Jan 2026 23:35:46
There is every chance as he’s 10 times the player.

So here's the thing.
I think we will beat city at the weekend.
They are short at the back at the moment so we might just get at them.
14 Jan 2026 22:24:27
I hope we do, but my wallet will be saying 3-1 city with a Semenyo goal and Haaland to bag a couple. Sesko for a consultation goal from us.
14 Jan 2026 22:48:55
Our defence is shocking tumble we look like we will concede everytime a half decent team attacks
And we give easy turnovers every time because we lack the playing to play the right pass so when we do attack we are out numbered for the counter as a result
City will pick us apart weekend, and if we concede early and then have to open up a bit it could be embarrassing.
14 Jan 2026 23:08:35
Howya Ken, I'm good thanks, and you? Hectic period in the world of Mumbles. Calming down now so I'll hopefully dip my toe back into this community again, I did miss you lot!
As for Saturday, it would be very Man Utd of the last decade to stun City and grab 3 points. The standard has dropped at City over the last two years, they havnt bought too well lately which is unusual.
I think if Arsenal win the league the league this year, Pep will give it one more before he's off to god knows were.
14 Jan 2026 23:41:41
City are building a new team. Have players far better than Utd and a top manager. They should score a hatful against us if they really want to. Haarlund is due a hatrick!
15 Jan 2026 00:04:17
Great mumbles it would be good to see more of you. I hope all is well.
I'm under no illusion of who is the better team but as you say it would be typical of the type of results we pull out from time to time.
They have the best manager in the league and lots of good players.
Scoring 1st could well put the cat among the pigeons and we always have a "punchers chance"
15 Jan 2026 06:56:13
Back to the 80’s and games against Liverpool. We upset that applecart a few times, yet they went on to win the league. First goal matters, if they get it I think we may be too brittle.
Heaven is our best central defender and needs to play. Think MBueno first goal but another 2 all draw.
15 Jan 2026 07:20:58
I hope beyond hope that you're correct, Ken. I can't see it happening though.
15 Jan 2026 09:58:24
I think City and Arsenal are two good starts for us. I see them as two free hits really. No one will be expecting United to win these so for me it should take away some pressure from the games. Hopefully the players go out, match the work rate of City and Arsenal and I can see two positive results.
15 Jan 2026 15:05:44
I think it’s a big ask. If their defence is leaky, ours is a flood. I expect our players to be up for it. I expect us to score goals. However, I’m not sure that we have anything capable of stopping them scoring more. Haaland is unstoppable. Doku can eat our fullbacks alive, and now they have Seymeno in the mix too.
More than the result, I want to see a reaction from our players. I want to see them fight and compete. To show the fans that they want to be Man United players.
15 Jan 2026 17:22:41
I agree it’s the best start possible for our new Interim! Got nothing to lose.
Be interesting the first team he picks, hopefully Amad and Mbuemo come straight in
Hopefully Cunha can get some form because not looked great to me, plus lacks pace, holds the ball too long and spends lots of time on the floor, he really not settled in yet hopefully he will but not set world alight so far, hopefully he can shine against city.

Semenyo already looking a poor signing for city…? hope he takes the day off on Saturday!
14 Jan 2026 09:04:09
There was a reason everybody wanted him. He's top class. We can’t compete with City et al just yet. We will be back I am sure, just not yet.
14 Jan 2026 11:08:45
I’m sure we will Eric, does look a great player though. Has the lot.
14 Jan 2026 12:58:54
Reading some of the reports from when Amorim was sacked, Amorim made a big push to sign Semenyo but the price (£70m) was deemed excessive so the club went for Mbuemo who ironically ended up costing the club around £70m after rounds of negotiations.
Mbeumo has performed well and really liked that we signed him. Cunha was an easy deal for the club to do hence why it was done so early.
I guess we could have signed semenyo instead of sesko and played cunha/mbeumo/semenyo as a fluid front three. Now that we look to be going back to playing with wingers, i bet the club deeply regret not signing him in summer.
14 Jan 2026 13:35:59
If we moved fernandes on on the summer and played Cunha in the 10 role behind sesko with mbeumbo on the right semenyo would of been perfect on the left. Cunha could be well capable on the 10 if he had creativity behind him.
14 Jan 2026 14:23:35
Cunha keeps hold of the ball for way too long.
14 Jan 2026 16:14:42
Hes really good when he moves it quick singh like the ball for dalot at the weekend.
14 Jan 2026 16:41:39
I reckon we might go for Iliman Ndiaye in the summer. He's about the right age and proven in the Prem, which are both factors that the club seem to be paying more attention to at the moment. Plus he's strong on both feet and he can play on both flanks. I also suspect he wouldn't cost any more than Cunha did last summer.
14 Jan 2026 23:44:11
Cunha is nowhere near as creative as Bruno. Whilst I like Mbwuemo he has taken Amads position and I don't think we are that much better off. I worry that Amad might seek a move elsewhere.
16 Jan 2026 14:16:17
Cunha nowhere near as good or as influential as Bruno and numbers nowhere near, Cunha is ok but shown nothing to say he is of the standard required, he is ok for where we are at this time, but would get nowhere near city, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool 1st team
He lacks pace, holds the ball far too long and spends lot of time on the floor. Looked great at Wolves, less so at United….
Sesko same ok for where we are currently but nowhere near good enough…. Mbuemo is our best recent signing by a country mile
I said before the season started the defence is a shambles and that’s where the money should have been spent, build a team in the correct manner, the way RA and Co gone about this is diabolical.
