Xabi Alonso for head coach anybody?

Agree1 Disagree0

You know what formation he's renowned for right.

Absolutely. Busby played for City and for Liverpool. He's an excellent coach. Whether he'd swap one toxic environment for another is the question for him.

Another young coach to ruin? I saw the odds have been slashed for Hoeness. Didn't we go in for him before?

amorim ruined himself.

We did Sepp. I posted here a couple of days ago that he's my favoured choice but then people got me thinking Luis Enrique might be possible! As I recall we went for him to succeed ETH in the summer before deciding on continuity, but he decided he needed to develop more.

I’ve read that Vivell’s long term choice is Hoeness. But not sure they will take a gamble on another younger coach with no premier league experience.

I’d be ok giving him a go. Rather do that then go with Glasner, Tuchel or most of the other premier league experienced coaches being mentioned. Going with premier league experience does not guarantee anything.

Fallguy there are only a couple of coaches i'd rather it not be tbh.
Other than southgate and however I am open to anybody at all with much reservation.
When it comes down to 2 or 3 names i'd be happy to pick my preference.

But at the moment any name brought up has just as good as chance as the next guy.
Im very indifferent at the moment.
The one thing i'm pretty sure of is that he will need time to build a team.

Just really hope it’s not Glasner who sadly seems to be the favourite.

If it was me, my shortlist would be in no particular order:

Alonso
Enrique
Nagelsmann
Xavi
Hoeness

And if you want premier league experience it would be Emery.

How about tuchel fallguy? I think he sorts the crap out still.

13 Jan 2026 06:34:22
Not sure about Tuchel. He hasn’t blown me away for England. From what I remember at Chelsea he tends to play boring football, but it was a while ago so I could be wrong.

Doesn’t he have a habit of falling out with the higher ups?

How about Pep. He's leaving at the end of the season? After all we have everyone above him in already from Citeh.
