Haven’t seen much of him but he has to be levels above what we already have. Just hope the manager has faith and puts him in straight away.

Hopefully we’ve gone for the right keeper. I think we’ll see Byandir off to Turkey now?

I'm nervous about this one. I was lambasted here for suggesting that if this guy is supposed to be an understudy this year and potentially challenge for a starting position, then it'd be better to just loan him somewhere to prepare him better for the EPL. However, given how awful the current options have been this year, he is now clearly coming in as a starter. I'm really not sure he is ready. I hope he is. But it's a risk.

It’s clear the lad will be thrown straight in at the deep end. Let’s just hope he knows how to swim.

I think Onana stays and they fight it out for No1 spot.

risky signing coming to a huge club - would push now for martinez on a season long loan just in case.

I think Onana stays because nobody would take him on loan, even if we paid all his wages, and gave them a few million.

The Saudis will probably take him, Danny. With any luck, he’ll realize that his goose is cooked at United and agree to move out there.

Its a WC next summer, if Onana doesn't play he won't be picked. It it AFCON this December aswell.

I agree with DonRed here, this is yet another high risk approach, when we could have had a world class pre. ier league proven keeper.

Im entering fairytale land here and desperately hoping that Onana panics and accepts a Saudi move in the next 3 hours and we grab Martinez aswell.

I don't like this when we know we absolutely need a world class mentality monster. Its a big risk compared to Martinez.

I just hope he is more reliable and gives confidence to those Infront of him. If he is able to do that, he is as good as 15 goals.

He is the perfect profile for how we set up.
Throw him in, we've signed players before from other lesser known leagues and they've been superstars for us.
I expect him to make some mistakes, keepers always do, but I expect them to be few and far between compared to the points he saves us from said mistakes being infrequent.
I do hope that his first mistake is not for a few games though, otherwise the media and a small section of the fanbase will be down his neck.

Jimbo, I've no idea what he's like, never seen him play.

I just hope, like you said, if and when the mistake comes, he has enough in the bank to know he's a top GK.

Make no mistake, it is the hardest position in the premier league. GK at man united takes a lot of balls.

I'm not Martinez's biggest fan, but he would most definitely have had the courage to be him.

He’s a young lad that cost 18m I’d be astonished if he hasn’t a mistake in him. The best in the world have. Our new recruitment team are in a different league to the last one and I have much more faith in him being the right long term keeper for us. Really hope it goes well for him And hopefully everyone gets behind him.

He has all the attributes to be a top keeper. In some ways following Onana makes it easier for him. He's allowed the odd mistake just not 2 a game.
