Did anyone hear 606 last night, caller called Mason about 40 minutes in. He was so passionate and very much an Amorim out guy, and I kind of agree with what he said.

1. The players look to the Manager for leadership, yet he keeps talking about how tough his job is, how he hates the players sometimes, how we wants to quit, the team is completely lost, and so on. What on Earth must the players think?

2. His behaviour on the touchline is very odd, has anyone ever seen another Manager with a magnets board in the middle of the game, or looking close to tears during a shootout?

3. His insistence on sticking with his system, playing 3 CBs against a League 2 side is indicative of someone who is completely one dimensional.

We've seen encouraging performances against Arsenal and Burnley, albeit conceding goals and not converting our chances but I think the job and club is far too big for him and it will end in tears. My mates don't joke about us any more, they feel sorry for us and think we are a joke.

RA has looked on the verge of quitting a few times, rumous has it he offered to resign fairly early on, and a scrappy win at home to Burnley, that's Burnley, doesn't paper over what is plain for us all to see.

He is out of his depth and his bevahiour suggests he knows it.

Agree0 Disagree1

That caller and you are both projecting your expectations of behaviour on Amorim. Leadership styles and touchline behaviour are subjective and I think it's nonsense to talk about. Amorim is clearly passionate and has good relationships with the players. Why get caught up with inspecting exactly how he responds to everything. The chat about formation is pointless. We knew his set up before and the issues in the team (GK and DM) would remain in any formation.

Thanks AJH. that's new. You haven't said this before. Oh wait.

Nice to meet you Mason.

31 Aug 2025 11:35:45
What must the players think? Well I'd hope they pay more attention to how he speaks with them than what he says in the media.

You ask what must the players think? Well looking at how they applied themselves against Burnley it looks like it has had a positive effect if any.

This is the problem with United fans, we over analyse everything, we read into signs that aren't there and we always fall into that confirmation bias, seeing what we want or expect to see and not what is there.

And some people talk about players being brittle. ???.

AJH I think you get whipped up by merson and all the other pundits with an absolute agenda against united. People calling it embarrassing that he doesn’t watch the pens and I’ve just watched clips of both Klopp and de zebri doing the exact same thing numerous times along with Thomas frank using a tactics board during a game along with prob a lot of other coaches. I hope he doesn’t take out a paper and pen during a game to write notes Jesus how could he! It’s ridiculous what you are saying.
I think I would be at the end of my tether watching players not do the basics consistently.
People saying no progression I’ve seen 22 shots 61 pos against arsenal I’ve seen similar yesterday against Burnley albeit. We are 3 games into a season relax yourself.

31 Aug 2025 12:34:41
I like him, I'd like him to be successful, but he's floundering.

If you can't see it then ?.

You could probably say the same about fergie when he came. It’s probably very similar a big clear out was needed he came from a league that wasn’t as strong. Given time it worked out.
Last season our big problems were scoring and creating chances. You can at least see that is starting to improve. Our standard of play on tour and arsenal, Burnley and half a game against Fulham has been better. We look dangerous going forward. It’s no exaggeration to say we could have been 5 nil up at half time yesterday.
No doubt we are going to see a lot of games like 3-2 4-3 2-2 in our favour and against us because the board have failed to improve our midfield. I think if we can get a run going the confidence is a big problem with the players at the moment.

Twenty, I saw a stat yesterday that SAF won 16 of his first 40 games in charge. Which is the exact same number of wins Amorim has in his first 40 games.

I think both have a very similar job of dragging a fallen giant out of its slumber, with a cultural reset and a big squad overhaul needed.

I'm not saying Amorim will be even half as successful as SAF, but it does give some context to the scale of the task he has to do and how our greatest ever manager faired pretty similarly when tasked with a similar sized job.

31 Aug 2025 15:12:57
Completely agree. We need to start looking long term rather than expecting short term success. Trust in the manager and give him the tools to be successful. He’s had one window and Tbf he’s got rid or excluded players which have been problems culturally.
Interesting stats so far xg we are top with Chelsea with 6.7, shots on target per match we are third 5.3, touches in opponents box we are top and big chances we are top 5. I think Amorim hopefully this season with fewer games can stick with team and really get them to gel.

31 Aug 2025 16:25:03
Shappy, the fergie comparisons now? ?.

31 Aug 2025 16:59:53
Angel, not in terms of success or ability, but in terms of what they have to to do to get this club successful again I think there are a lot of parallels.

It's just an odd coincidence that they both managed only 16 wins out of their first 40 games.

Your a teacher shappy you understand patience and how long it takes to turn some situations around and how other circumstances often slow that down.
Building a business a team a house developing people, changing a culture takes time and often money.
Some here and now merchants don't buy into long termism and often don't understand or try to comprehend the reasoning being certain situations.
I think most of us thought the team would have started a bit better results wise. Obviously that has to improve and I think it will still.
Some people hand a very low tole.
