No surprised but confirmed that Cas will leave in the summer, I think we expect Ugarte to go as well, so two spaces at least to fill.
23 Jan 2026 01:39:44
Only another 12-13 more departures to go!
23 Jan 2026 11:21:22
Sancho, Rashford, Maguire, Casemiro, Heaton, Malacia - All off the wage bill Jun 30th 2026. (Collectively on £1.26m per week)
Reports of Ugarte leaving, reports of Bruno Leaving. (Potentially £525K per week) .
We had a £45m drop in revenue 23/24 vs 24/25. The drop will be even bigger 25/26 due to no Europe and dropping out the cups early.
The above outgoings balance the books, I worry that the club won't actually spend much in the summer.
25 Jan 2026 09:17:28
Rewz,
The club will spend big in the summer.
27 Jan 2026 20:56:43
I think Maguire will stay.
21 Jan 2026 16:38:10
Long time reader, first time poster- fantastic site. At Durham train station today; spoke to Christian Speakman from Sunderland AFC- apparently we are looking at Noah Sadiki (as are a few other clubs) .
22 Jan 2026 09:00:11
This was widely reported in the press yesterday. Possibly with Ugarte involved in part exchange. Seems versatile as a FB, CB and DM.
22 Jan 2026 12:33:09
Great first post NE red.
16 Jan 2026 18:43:35
Rumours of Utd bringing in a midfielder with pr prem experience on loan. Apparently he’s still in Europe so not neves.
Have you heard any links to midfielders Ed?
{Ed001's Note - not that would fit that profile, sorry. Only one I know you are after is Wharton, but he won't be leaving on loan I am sure.}
16 Jan 2026 20:59:08
Ceballos was linked with Villa. Could be him.
Loftus Cheek and McKennie are the other names being linked.
17 Jan 2026 00:08:50
Sabitzer?
17 Jan 2026 11:22:57
Lotus-Cheek and Gomes are the names doing the rounds.
17 Jan 2026 11:39:33
Id love to see us bid for Hackney from Boro. Lad looks good, 25 to 30 mill, meaning hopefully we can get one of Wharton/Anderson in summer (Maybe both depending on leavers)
19 Jan 2026 13:45:30
I think we stick to our guns and only buy players that fit the long term plan.
20 Jan 2026 12:29:00
Totally agree. Loans are different though. Would Neves provide a huge upgrade on Cas, Marino, Ugarte? Well maybe Ugarte 😆.
20 Jan 2026 18:06:48
I think Neves on loan would be fantastic. Hugely experienced, far better than Ugarte and would be comfortable playing alongside either Casemiro or Kobbie. I don't think there are any other midfielders that are remotely attainable on loan that you could say that about.
21 Jan 2026 14:29:01
Loftus Cheek or Ndidi.
16 Jan 2026 15:20:20
Reading a few rumours online that we have been looking into getting a midfielder according to Ben Jacobs.
The rumour is that it is Ruben Neves.
16 Jan 2026 15:31:35
I’ve seen that knit’s NOT Ruben Neves 😂.
16 Jan 2026 15:49:50
Saw that online earlier. Didn’t he say secret midfielder? One with epl experience but not currently playing there. The inference was then that it’s neves as Jacob’s is the Middle East football guy. Wouldn’t be against it as it’s an extra body but I think we need more of a defensive minded player.
16 Jan 2026 17:04:59
Roll up roll up, magical mystery midfielder. probably Carrick 🤣 but seriously I hope its a solid player who can get around the pitch. Heard it might be mckenna from juve, but that was from talk plop. so pinch of salt with that one.
16 Jan 2026 17:12:42
Weston McKennie. I’m telling you it’ll happen.
16 Jan 2026 18:51:47
Weston McKennie not a world beater but a decent midfielder if we're going to play a midfield 3 I think we need another midfielder would be a good option.
16 Jan 2026 21:31:19
I read it was Sneijder.
17 Jan 2026 00:09:19
Kante or sabitzer.
17 Jan 2026 00:12:02
Or de Jong 😆.
17 Jan 2026 19:22:48
Strootman, Vidal or Milinković-Savić I heard.
17 Jan 2026 20:44:14
Strootman 🤣
That’s a blast from the past, who did he end up signing for? Marsielle I think?
20 Jan 2026 10:31:55
I remember when it was Nicolas Gaitan every week.
21 Jan 2026 01:42:26
Feck me, what I'd give for a prime Kante in this team.
15 Jan 2026 21:10:11
Not so much ITK, but passed on from a friend who's a bit more clued up. United are targeting the young lad at Sunderland Noah Sadiki for the summer and have him near the top of the list for midfield options. Kees Smit and El Mala (never heard of him) where the other name mentioned.
12 Jan 2026 19:19:58
Gallagher on the way to Spurs, Urgarte heading to Galatasary reports Collyer going out again on loan, surely a midfielder coming in.
12 Jan 2026 20:15:54
We have just signed a midfielder loan til end dof season welcome Michael Carrick.
13 Jan 2026 03:35:38
Surely Ugarte leaving and someone like Gallagher and/or Neves coming in would have just . ade sense to everyone.
I appreciate Gallagher going to Spurs, but he would have chosen us, but we just gave up and went into a death spiral.
13 Jan 2026 07:23:33
Rooney available too, him and Carrick can fill the gaps. Can't be much worse!
13 Jan 2026 09:17:59
Maybe OGS is our new striker with Premier League experience rather than coming as a coach?
In all seriousness, buying Gallagher made little sense to me. Loan maybe.
Neves I’ve always liked, but again don’t think he’s the guy for us either. We need legs in there who can bust a gut and cover every blade of grass.
13 Jan 2026 12:34:24
Maybe Hackney from 'Boro. Blossomed under Carrick.
13 Jan 2026 17:30:35
That’s a great shout ConwyRed. Believe he was highly tipped to make a big move also? Imagine wouldn’t affect the summer budget either?!
14 Jan 2026 12:55:47
As bad as Ugarte is surely they won't let him go out on loan without bringing in someone to replace him. Mind you nothing suprises me now when Man United are involved.
Please let it be Dalot going out on loan next.
14 Jan 2026 18:50:42
Heard on a podcast this afternoon that neves is keen and inside utd are too, as uts around £19m.
Just what I heard on a transfer rumour podcast. would he improve us?
14 Jan 2026 21:16:31
Jimbo Gallagher's salary would put him in our top bracket and as such would need to be a regular starter over the next few years. If we actually have ambition then he's not right for us. On loan I'd have been very happy to get him as he definitely would start this year.
09 Jan 2026 22:53:28
Seen reports today of Toby Collyer going back out on loan surely we should be looking to keep him at the club with our lack of midfield options.
10 Jan 2026 03:37:01
Not sure how good he actually is? Will also depend largely I’d guess on his injury, and whether the club manage to offload Ugarte?
10 Jan 2026 09:10:23
I'd rather play him than Ugarte.
10 Jan 2026 09:52:04
It’s an easy thing to say AJH but Ugarte hasn’t suddenly turned into a poor player since his Sporting and PSG days. He’s fairly limited in passing range etc, but he’s not been played to his strengths, and he’s an experienced international midfielder who could have a role as DM in a midfield 3.
In theory, he should bring energy, tenacity and aggression to our midfield to break up play and provide extra cover for our centre backs, the question is does he have the discipline and positional sense to thrive in the Premier League. In a midfield 3 he now, like Mainoo who can play further forward, has a real chance to shine.
Collyer started well like many, but needs football to kick on. Will he get it here I don’t know. That being said, he’ll be getting the right interim coach whoever it is as either OGS, RVN or Carrick will dip into the youth system more.
10 Jan 2026 09:57:39
I agree Ajh. Ugarte has been a shocking signing. Did he come in, instead of McT?
10 Jan 2026 10:01:34
Hull are doing well and they play good football aswell. They are also on the play offs.
10 Jan 2026 10:57:15
Ultimately young players need to be playing regularly if they are going to develop and reach their potential.
I think the original plan was to loan out Collyer for the first half of the season and see how he did while we kept Sekou Kone and gave him more first team exposure to help him continue to adjust to playing in England. Then assess where both of them were in January. However, Kone's injury and Collyer's limited game time, partially due to injury, has meant that it's hard to judge where either player is right now.
Realistically the club should loan out the player they think has the best chance of having a future at the club so they can continue to develop, while keeping the other one at the club as back up.
I think given the challenging situation our club is in right now and the limited options we have in midfield I'd be tempted to loan out the younger lad Kone somewhere where he'll get regular game time, ideally in the Championship, but abroad if necessary. While keeping the more experienced Collyer (whose still building up fitness after his injury) as without a midfield signing in January (due to being managerless again) it's more likely that whoever stays will be needed as the seasons wears on and players pick up more injuries. I would expect to see Casemiro to have to miss a few games given his age and the amount he has played for us so far this season. While the rarely injured Bruno has had a spell out, Mount will pick up injuries, Mainoo has missed a bit due to injuries and Ugarte has as well.
Given that we will have a caretaker manager and the difficult situation we find ourselves in it makes more sense to rely on the more experienced Collyer in a pinch rather than throwing Kone into the mix.
10 Jan 2026 11:30:04
Ugarte has looked better playing alongside Casemeiro. Ideally the club can move him on in the summer.
Hopefully, he can find his form again, but I'm not sure if he will.
10 Jan 2026 11:45:02
Ugarte has been a massive disappointment, when you think we signed him and let McT go, albeit slightly different positions. I get why we want Rashford to leave, lack of effort, questionable commitment, but losing Scott seemed mad at the time. And this is how I now feel about Mainoo
I can't think of on evanescence when I thought I see why qe signed Ugarte. Maybe the cub is too big for him, who knows, but I would absolutely play others in front of him, including some of our youngsters.
10 Jan 2026 15:27:20
Why do you think you are not in the position to be manager of united ajh?
11 Jan 2026 07:29:29
Ugarte has been better. Still not good enough, but better nonetheless.
11 Jan 2026 13:21:43
Ugarte has been shocking since he moved to PSG. Except when he’s playing for Uruguay. Must be a confidence thing. He seemed like a player well suited to the EPL, but his defensive positioning is poor, and his passing is all over the place. I’d suspect that he’ll be sold if anyone would bid, but his value is rock bottom now.
07 Jan 2026 18:30:37
I have a relative living in Turkiye, which is where I got my Mather hint from earlier today.
He's just come back on Whatsapp to say a Ugarte to Galatasaray loan option to buy is being negotiated.
Let's see.
07 Jan 2026 19:06:54
These are the types of transfer window gossip rumours we’ve been waiting for! Love this.
07 Jan 2026 20:20:16
Brilliant rumour.
I do remember a link with Ugarte and gala when he was at PSG.
07 Jan 2026 09:33:53
First one of the New Year. Sam Mather off to Kayserspor for an undisclosed fee.
06 Jan 2026 19:06:44
But Telegraph Sport revealed on Monday morning that United’s hierarchy took the decision to dismiss Amorim before Sunday’s draw with Leeds United after the manager “lost it” with Wilcox on Friday morning.
Wilcox had intended the meeting to be a chance to discuss the evolution of the team but when the subject of Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system – to which he has been wedded – was raised the Portuguese “blew up”, according to sources.
Sources said Amorim’s behaviour had grown increasingly erratic in recent weeks and felt his public outbursts, in which he suggested he was being undermined and hinted at a power struggle with Wilcox and the board, were designed to engineer an exit.
07 Jan 2026 12:46:19
I hope I am wrong but I think after Amorim had players wanting to play for the club and the team behind him, this is meddling from the board in exactly what Amorim Was employed to do, which is coach the team. That includes setting the formation and style of play. It was coming and we were progressing.
The fallout is clearly over the board changing goalposts from Europe to being Champions League, trying to change the 3 year narrative without the extra investment. It's a rubbish show and this is a disastrous decision and we are back to square 1 yet again.
Look how many players have come out in support of Amorim and clarifying they saw him as their boss and leader. An absolutely terrible ego driven decision based on someone reacting emotionally to being doubted within and abused by Wlcox who openly admits to interfering and believing he's a bteer coach.
This is dreadfully short sighted and utterly incompetent.
07 Jan 2026 17:19:15
The DOF is perfectly entitled to question what's happening on the pitch without the coach throwing all his toys out of the pram. Rather than act as many of our players have done by going public the correct approach would have been either to arrange for discussions with the rest of the management team, and/or if there were indeed genuine tensions between Wilcox and his colleagues, to let that play out.
In tense situations tensions are quite normal as are disagreements. Mature individuals try to negotiate through them. After all, getting into the Champions League ought to have been the priority not just for the club but also Amorim since doing so would provide more funds for the rebuild. If that required a short term modification of approach a reasonable individual should at least consider being less rigid.
09 Jan 2026 14:08:03
In truth wilcock must resign. he's a rat like Radcliffe and his pathetic ego has dumped utd into chaos.
