Let's assume the Mbuemo deal goes through. We also have Cunha, plus Amad back from injury, and Mount back from injury (for now), and kobe with a full. pre season. Players like Yoro and Heaven will be a year older, and hopefully we will move on the disruptive influences.

So, let's assume we sign a forward as well, where are we finishing? I think top 4 will be a big stretch, I'm thinking 6th at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

It all depends if Amorim can get these players playing his system. We’ve all been told he’s a top class coach who does his best work in pre season.

Too many variables to have a realistic guess.

I'd expect us to finish somewhere between 8th and 5th this season.

While other sides might have a stronger first 11 than us (on paper), they will also likely be playing in Europe. The extra games and travelling will have an impact on them. While we will have more time to spend training with the manager, perfecting the tactics, preparing for the opposition, and be fresher in many of the key games against those sides competing in Europe.

I've got a sneaky suspicion that we will be pretty prolific in front of goal this year.

We'll likely line up with Amad at RWB, Mbeumo, Cunha and a striker up front, with Dorgu at LWB. That will likely push Bruno into the midfield pivot.

That's a very offensive team, as such I'd expect us to score quite a lot of goals, what might hold us back is that we will also likely concede a lot of goals.

Onana is likely to still be first choice, while Bruno in midfield does potentially leave us a little exposed centrally, add to that we will likely have at least two players under the age of 21 in our "defence", potentially creating a lack of experience there.

Our best bet to not conceding is to keep hold of the ball and limit the opportunities for teams to attack us.

Whats Mason Mount going to do?

17 Jul 2025 20:38:12
I’m not confident if I’m honest.
I saw nothing from Amorim’s first 6 months other than failures, but intrigued to see how having the squad over preseason works out.

I’m also of the opinion that a good team is built from the back. Our keepers are both mediocre and error prone, our centre backs all fit into the following categories: extremely talented prospects, injury prone but good or error prone. We have no quality RWB cover behind Amad, Maz and Dalot are RBs. LWB looks well stocked but I remain unconvinced of Dorgu, Amass and Leon are kids, Shaw could come back strong.

I’m less concerned about the forwards, Cuhna, Mbeumo are good signings and think Zirkzee could step up after season of adapting to EPL, I also think there’s a player in Hojlund.

Midfield is hit and miss, Mount, Collyer, Mainoo could all step up after injuries or fade away. Ugarte is limited but a weapon in the right circumstances, Case’s legs went the season before last, and Bruno is class. We have good talent to emerge from youth but looks a season too early for them.

I think 5th has to be the expectation or taget but wouldn’t be surprised if we finish 12th with Amorim is gone by Christmas and we end up waiting until after the World Cup to and go for Tuchel or Nagglesman.

Get injured overtraining.

17 Jul 2025 21:46:48
I think we will challenge this year. No European football so we can train and rest and recover properly. Add a few goals into the mix and take away some injuries and the problem players and we will be there abouts.

Everyone i know thinks i'm mad and delusional, but my granny always used to tell me trust your gut and I have a feeling.

Top half and a cup run.

17 Jul 2025 23:00:33
I agree Danny. I'm hoping we have a really good season. I think if things go as well as they can we will challenge the following year. On the assumption we get rid if the spanners like rashford sancho makaci garnacho Anthony. Cas ford next drain for sure with onana Shaw and rasmus
I've been saying for the last 4 years on here much more immortal on who leaves rather than who comes in.

I think we will end up in Euro spots. Not top 4 but Cunha and Mbeumo are very good signings.

I think a ore season under the new system and the extra time by not being in Europe allowing extra rest training and planning for matches all halping.

I think we should be looking at top 8 as a minimum.

Many people overlook the importance of a full preseason for players and coaches.
The intensity and spotlight of the game is alleviated enough to enable the players to bond, express themselves, and add layers to the team's flow.
In any system, certain players can display attributes that aren't specifically regulated by that system, thus adding dynamics and flexibility - preseason, away from the focus, is essential for developing these factors within the group.
For the coaches, it's all about drilling the point home and finding those little nuggets of additional inspiration that rub a healthy sheen of flexibility to the system.

The signings so far - Cunha and (I bloody hope so) Mbeumo offer abilities in their respective positions that aren't matched by anyone else. One of the main reasons we scored so few last season was how predictable our approach and build was - that won't be the case this season.
I expect to see Cunha regularly sit closer to midfield, thus creating an occasional creative pivot with Fernandes - does that not sound saucy?
I expect to see Mbeumo causing havoc for opposition defences - especially if he can play off a big lump up front. If there's a player who can help rattle out the potential of Hojlund, it's Mbeumo.

I wouldn't be surprised to see last season's total EPL goals bettered by just the quartet of Fernandes, Cunha, Mbeumo and Hojlund/ new No9 this season.

Then, with the lack of European football, fatigue and recovery shouldn't be such pressing concerns. Players like Mount, Mainoo, De Ligt and Martinez should benefit greatly from more time for rest and core strengthening afforded simply by more time. We have too many core players who lack the robustness for the amount of games we had last season.

This season, I think we'll see:
Onana staying as No1.
The next level of Yoro.
A real competition between Martinez and Heaven.
The fade of Maguire.
A settled and powerful Dorgu.
Amad owning RWB.
The return of 'baller' Mainoo.
Fernandes and the 3 up top forming rather a potent attacking unit.
And lastly, I think, with all the aforementioned factors coming to play, we'll see Amorim's United bare it's teeth.

Top 8, absolute minimum, I expect 6th.

Fade of Maguire?.

18 Jul 2025 05:42:29
I love the optimism and IF we do sign Mbuemo and a striker and it’s looking like only a IF at the moment, yes undoubtedly we score more goals that should not be too difficult, but come on guys get realistic, the game is won and lost in midfield and we don’t have a lot in there at all, yes offensive but if your saying Cass legs are gone who is exactly going to stop teams rolling over a midfield, Ugarte is very poor, Mainoo not mobile or defensive enough, Bruno, class act but not defensively…. That’s before we get to poor defence, Dorgu not looked great, Amad will not even start 50% of games at RWB Martinez is a liability and poor anyway in EPL, Deligt is slow, plays like he carries a fridge, Heaven looks good hopefully Yoro too, but that’s 2 youngsters and no pace in there to cover them both and the mistakes which they will make
GK…well forget him.
We may score, but we will let in boat loads I am afraid, unless RA gets want he wants, A experience CB with pace, A Midfielder who can actually pass a ball and dictate a game, a experienced decent GK or number 2 and of course the 2 IFS a striker and Mbuemo.
ATM as is, be lucky to get top 10, if we sign the above top 6.

18 Jul 2025 07:57:15
MBueno, Striker, Good strong Centre Mid and Goalkeeper, I expect 5th and give the top four problems. Striker is vital first, keeper then CM.

18 Jul 2025 08:20:16
With Cunha and Mbuemo up top, I think we will score a lot more goals than we have over the last few seasons. With Bruno and Cas in midfield and Onana on goal, I think we will concede a lot more as well.

18 Jul 2025 09:43:38
I'm full sure that confidence is key with this group. They have been kicked from pillar to post the last year, they second guess everything.

The one thing that changes all of it is scoring. With Cunha and Mbuemo, those 2 alone will have a massive impact.

Watch them fire off the first few games, I truly truly believe that the landscape changes dramatically and RA builds trust within the group. I'm giving him a serious dose of the benefit of the doubt here given how shocking last year was.

But I do believe that these players are a lot better than what they are showing

Dorgu left, Amad right, Bruno dropping, a rejuvenated Kobbie and watch out for Kone, a special boy.

Plus, I believe we are still another 3/ 4 signings away this year.

My bet is we will not know this team come end of August.
