Scholes hit the nail on the head, with 2 quick wing forwards and a quick centre forward United look a different attacking threat, bearing in mind 2 of those 3 players are only developing and we've looked more exciting than I have seen in a long time. Mata needs to take a few less touches on the ball he seems to slow us down that little bit 😡

Smalling has been Fantashtick, he's turned into a serious centre back, intelligent, strong, smart and very composed and reliable,I didn't rate him for years but I'm a big fan now. Darmian had a bit of shocker but what can you do.

Tell you what though . United may have lost this game, but this is the best football I've seen them play for a long long time.

Lastly speedy recovery to Luke Shaw,
Ouch! Speaking from experience, I hope it's a clean break of the leg and not the the ankle. When it's the ankle there are so many complications when it breaks and ligaments and joints are involved and when it goes it's never 100% right again.I'll have artrithis In 3 years with a serious ankle break. Consultant told me it's inevitable with those injuries, they can only stall it not prevent it due to cartilage issue

so we played well but got beat by an average team ? we were piss poor again in the last third and too slow in a lot of build up play its no use having all the possession if you can't convert into goals

2.) 16 Sep 2015 06:14:53
The average team that won their league by 17 points whilst we qualified via a 4th place play off.

3.) 16 Sep 2015 07:41:09
Deano what a ridiculous comment, would you put Celtic, Malmo or that team from Kazakhstan in the same bracket then? PSV are a poor side who we should be beating every time. People say we look miles better going forward? How? Their keeper didn't exactly have to break a sweat did he?

4.) 16 Sep 2015 09:24:07
Diego, what makes PSV a poor side? Do you know what a poor side is? wouldn't have had much qualms if you had said average even though i think they are a bit above average. Don't forget Basel halted our progress in the CL not too long ago. No team in the CL is a poor team!

5.) 16 Sep 2015 09:39:01
Mate if you think psv are that poor a side you do not watch enough football.
And my comments ridiculous?

6.) 16 Sep 2015 10:40:04
How can anyone talk positively about us losing to PSV? We should be thrashing them every time. It shows you how far we have fallen that the Lemmings think we're doing well in LVG. What a complete mess our team is. Doomed. Mark my words (as usual).

7.) 16 Sep 2015 11:09:18
Yeah PSV are absolutely terrible not a single player of their title winning team from last season would get anywhere near our starting 11!!

8.) 16 Sep 2015 12:17:21
Jackutd u cheeky fecker!

9.) 16 Sep 2015 20:26:01
Where would they finish in the premiership? They may not be a poor side but they certainly aren't a team we should b losing against, like I said the team from Kazakhstan won there league, I'm pretty sure they are a poor side. We got the easiest team from pot one and lost, if it was Liverpool who got beat off them we would all be laughing. Psv are not a side who should be beating us, and if u think they are then it shows how far we have fallen

10.) 17 Sep 2015 19:12:14
We all have to remember that this is a brand new team almost. Back four, midfield and up front has changed from last season with new players coming in with different ages, levels of experience, ability etc. Give them time to gel, we all knew that when SAF left that it was going to be difficult. I think SAF would have had the same problem had he still been here. His team in his last campaign would struggle to get top 4, possibly even top 6, with the competition that there is in the premiership now. Give them time, it'll all work it out in the end.

So it's seems that that Di'Maria is so unhappy in Manchester he now wants to leave Utd to join City. 😂 Genius.

The only place I've read this is in a bulgarian website. Are you from Bulgaria, bgolgo ?!

2.) 14 Jun 2015 17:22:23
he has had 2 very good games for the argies

3.) 14 Jun 2015 17:44:14
That's because the climate in manchester is terrible as opposed to the climate in manchester which is brilliant

4.) 14 Jun 2015 19:13:43
And of course it's just like United to sell it's star players to there cross city rivals

5.) 14 Jun 2015 20:41:35
Hahahahaha imbs 😄

6.) 14 Jun 2015 21:14:10
Nah, it's cause his Argie buds are there, flip him off I'd say!

7.) 14 Jun 2015 21:24:49
Not from Belgium Ziko , was on social media, quote from a newspaper

8.) 14 Jun 2015 22:41:58
If we can get back 80% of what we paid then I'd let him go, horrible first season, albeit with some personal issues, but he's not settled and more than likely won't.

Use the 80% and go for greizmann 😀

9.) 14 Jun 2015 23:02:24
Imbs,

That made me laugh a lot mate, funny.

10.) 16 Jun 2015 14:01:08
I hope its true and for 60 mill they can have him. It will be a short drive and sure many would volunteer to drive him there.

Hi Eds

Its been reported that Utd are tracking Eduardo Sasha and Rodrigo Dourado from Internacional

Any substance?

bgolgo

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea but it would be strange - Rodrigo Dourado would stand pretty much no chance of getting a work permit and it would be an unlikely deal. There is nothing noteworthy about him as a player. Eduardo Sasha is a player another premier league side were watching about three years ago - he has an unusual ownership situation. There is an interesting story about Vitoria de Guimaraes being told by ESG last summer that he could be available for some ridiculous fee - I don't recall the number now.

I can think of another player from Internacional that is sitting in the reserves that Manchester United could be interested in, but these guys do not look likely to me.}

1.) 21 Apr 2015 10:03:44

Hi Eds

I seen some rumour about the Brazilian Kennedy and we're showing interest, is that the case/

Sorry tried search but couldn't find it

bgolgo

{Ed001's Note - is it not Kenedy? The Fluminese lad? If so I was told Wolfsburg, Porto, Sporting and both Milan clubs have shown interest, but I don't know of any other.}

That's the 1. Cheers Dude :)

Someone please for the life of me, tell me this can be turned around?

We just look so predictable again, is it fair to keep blaming the players, a lot of the old Ole Guard Rash, Bruno, Shaw have been given new contracts in addition to Ten Hag getting the players he wanted, is it a tactical thing now at this stage and it’s just not working, really just trying to make sense of it tbh.

bgolgo

1.) 30 Sep 2023 17:39:28
ive no idea, i thought we looked very good midweek even if Palace were poor. All I know is for the first time since ETH has been here i'm not going to watch his post match interview -its just depressing .

2.) 30 Sep 2023 17:57:06
We are an average team that sometimes will play good football but we will go back quickly to our "thing". Adding up the injuries. this is going to be a very long season.

3.) 30 Sep 2023 17:59:41
The common denominator here is the players as there are players there that done it before

Like I get with injuries it can have an effect implementing a style of play and a lack of cohesion in playing together can happen as a result, but this has to be last chance for Rashford, lost ball 18 times 1st half, consistently runs into dead ends, and rarely does anything intelligent in the final third unless he has acres of space to run into.

Then you have our captain Bruno and Casemiro (I’m a big fan of both btw) who consistently give the ball away inviting so much unwanted pressure, in addition to poor pedestrian passing all across the pitch.

75% possession 400 mill and still can’t break down a park the bus team. I’m a big advocate for Ten Hag but this is concerning to say the least and he needs to figure this out really quick and start dropping players not performing.

4.) 30 Sep 2023 18:04:26
Of course it can, nothing is fixed and everything changes over time. Its a tough and unpredictable league, look at Wolves beating City today. Probably ruined many a mans accumulator today.

We need a level of calm, we need to be able to get some of our players back fit and play a consistent side. For me the injuries and the issues they cause to a poorly constructed squad full of players with opposing qualities is the main reason our lack of quality and consistency in performances.

I'm not entirely sure what people expect from a tactical perspective they think the manager could do differently.

I've seen the same people complain that the manager both needs to get a consistent style of play AND that he is too stuck in playing "his" way and that he needs to change the style of play.

Obviously both cannot be true, they are arguing both sides of the coin.

My view is that the manager is clearly attempting to impart his style and philosophy on the team. However, he is severely limited because of the personnel he has to work with. That forces him to have to choose between two options when he loses key players to make his ideal style work. He can either play unsuited players and demand they play a style they either cannot play or cannot play it to the level required. Or he can adjust the tactics to suit the players he has available.

He has tended to go with the latter and not the former. Which given the utter shambles and mismatched nature of our squad is probably the lesser of two evils. However, currently with the sheer number of injuries and the constant changing nature of the players he has available; those tactics are probably having to change between training sessions let alone matches. As a player who is fit on the Monday, pulls up injured on the Wednesdays, and the tactics for the game on Saturday now need to change again.

People forget that Pep and Klopp had some very inconsistent performances in their first couple of seasons while they had to rebuild the entire squad to be able to play one consistent style of football at the standard required. Within three summer transfer windows both managers had changed over 20 of their original 25 man squads from taking over as manager.

Its a process, it won't happen over night, there will be bright moments and what appears like backward steps or poor performances.

The choices are to either trust in the process and see it though, or constantly chop and change, rinse and repeat and find ourselves back here in 2 years time as we constantly try and delay the pain needed to grow.

I've not seen anything from EtH that makes me question him.

Not when he made the players do the extra running in training at the start of last season, while also doing the running himself.

Not when he dropped Rashford and Garnacha for a lack of effort in training and held them to high standards.

Not when he stood firm against Ronaldo and stated no player is bigger than the club. Moving him on was the right decision.

Not as he helped rebuild a side from our poorest ever EPL finish and guided us to 3rd in his first season despite numerous set backs during that season (a WC mid-season, several injuries, a mismatched squad, the Ronaldo debacle, having to send Sancho away and the whole Greenwood issue) .

Not when he offered support to Sancho and allowed him time out of the spot light and called in some favours with former colleagues in the Netherlands to try and help Sancho get in the right physical and mental shape.

Not when he lead us to two domestic cup finals winning one of them and bringing silverware back to the club for the first time in 6 years.

And not this season as he's had to deal with the spectre of the club sale and the distraction and disharmony that brings, in the way he has dealt with the clubs awful handling of the Greenwood situation, or the way he has handled the Antony situation. He has stood firm about the need for high standards against Sancho who is throwing all of the managers previous support back in his face. The manager has not got personal and has handled that well.

All this while dealing with a horrific injury crisis that is denying him any real flexibility in terms of viable tactics.

I've seen nothing from him that makes me think he doesn't have a handle on things or that he isn't the right man to have at the helm during this rocky time.

5.) 30 Sep 2023 18:14:41
I have to say for the 1st time I'm starting to question some of his team selections. There was no need for amrabat to be left back, dalot could play there, lindelof right back, maguire and varane in the middle.
What mount has done to be starting games is beyond me, surely mejbri has to keep his place, amrabat, casemiro and mejbri should have started imo.
Pellistri has done ok but my front 3 would have been rashford, hojland and fernandez.
The decision that baffled me most was definitely leaving mejbri out, no energy in midfield again especially 1st half. Like another poster pointed out, we're so predictable in attack, I don't like to question the manager to much as he knows the players, but doubts are starting to arise.

6.) 30 Sep 2023 18:31:09
Shappy i'm 100% behind ETH but if I was about to drop 5 billion plus on buying the club and still had a shed load of money left over to
'put the team back where they belong' ( to paraphrase both the Sheikh and SJR) I might not have the same outlook. i'm sure ETH will be aware of that.

7.) 30 Sep 2023 18:55:49
ETH causes many of his own problems, he not at elite coach level by a long way.
Causes too much disharmony in the dressing room, you can play really well one game then get dropped the next that’s causes problems, there seems to be a lack of direction, players unhappy, he had what 18 months now and bought quite a few and we still a shambles of a team the players he bought are just not good enough, so can’t keep hiding behind the fact takes time, should at least be seeing some improvement.
Shappy anyone think you were employed by the club given the excuses you come up with, same as you don’t for Ole, look at that turned out.
It’s a shambles of a team, shambles of tactical play and too much talking coming from the manager, instead of doing the job.
You harp on about the run he made them do, our school teacher used to do that he also used to make us wear our pants if we forgot our kit, grow up these are professional footballers, they need a direction and have some respect, how can you have respect for someone who appears very two faced, he prised De Gea, bombed him, in the week he praised Garnacho he scored he dropped him, he praised Martial he dropped him, replaced him with supposedly our best two strikers Rashford And Rasmus who scored how many between them this season.
Time to wake up and smell the coffee, it’s not good enough and won’t ever be.

8.) 30 Sep 2023 19:14:32
A large amount of the "personnel" he has brought to the club are not that good in my opinion. Shaw coming back will be a help I guess, but Malacia, Antony, Reguillon are not going to fix anything. I am behind ETH but with these results and more so, the displays, why should he be above questioning.

9.) 30 Sep 2023 19:34:31
If a deal can be done for new owners of the club ETH is down the road anyway, players know that, he not got a cat in hells chance of keeping the job if new owners come in, he will be lucky to make Christmas if new owners don’t even come in.
He seems to make it’s his mission to upset as many people as possible
Then all he does is come on TV after and tell everyone the players are not following the instructions it’s a process they must follow…
What was the term LV Gall used all the time, something similar I recall
Even the players he not upset are friends of the ones he does, he then expects them to repay him.
He is used to managing kids in a inferior league this job too big for him
Ronald de Boer exactly the same, talk a good game that don’t translate to the EPL.

10.) 30 Sep 2023 19:37:04
Of I was dropping 6 billion or whatever on the club the first thing I would be doing is getting the best Sporting director I could find and telling him to sort my club out!

11.) 30 Sep 2023 19:44:07
Shappy, I have no idea what his style is or his ideas are. I wanted ETH, he did a great job last year, but this year I am not sure why we are so poor.

As I have said previously, the club is rotten from within, huge cultural changes needed to make us a professional outfit. I suspect there are serious issues still to be addressed.

12.) 30 Sep 2023 19:45:02
Out of all he purchased who is going to win you EPL, maybe Dutch league.
It’s nowhere near good enough, ok though he had a team BBQ this week, Palace we’re clearly training…. he is really clutching at straws, maybe that’s the level in Dutch league a free sausage and all be OK, out of his depth sadly…
poor team, poor leader, poor coaching poor tactics.

13.) 30 Sep 2023 19:47:08
Spot on Oakbark. New owners and a new SP would be grilling ETH hours after getting the keys.

14.) 30 Sep 2023 20:02:17
They would be paying ETH off and all the coaching staff before the keys are handed over, he is showing he out of his depth, some defended the indefensible with Ole, they are at it again with ETH, based on what a Cup that to be fair we struggled to win anyway the facts are we lost more then we won this season, we got a goalkeeper who can kick though and pick the ball out the net!
Worst start in 30 odd years. Bookies favourite for chop. Half players don’t like him
The other half are friends of ones that don’t like him.

15.) 30 Sep 2023 20:51:50
He's toast strangeways. you can't be this awful and stay in the job. he's caused so much in house damage its untrue, a lot not his fault but fook me the football on show is horrible, slow, boring etc etc. and today supporters around me in the stands are turning. Basically we've had enough.

16.) 30 Sep 2023 20:57:11
To win a match, Manchester United, like any other football team, typically needs a combination of factors:

1. Team Strategy: A well-thought-out game plan, which includes tactics, formations, and strategies, tailored to the opponent they are facing.

2. Skillful Players: Skilled and in-form players who can perform effectively in their respective positions, including strikers who can score goals and defenders who can prevent the opponent from scoring.

3. Teamwork: Effective communication and teamwork among players to coordinate their movements, passing, and positioning on the field.

4. Defense: A strong defense to prevent the opponent from scoring goals. This includes solid goalkeeping and organized defending.

5. Midfield Control: Dominance in midfield to control possession, create scoring opportunities, and dictate the pace of the game.

6. Set Pieces: Being proficient in set pieces (corners, free-kicks) to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

7. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the opponent's strategies during the game and make necessary changes.

8. Motivation: High morale and motivation among players can make a significant difference in their performance.

9. Supportive Fans: Support from the fans at the stadium can boost the team's morale and create a positive atmosphere.

10. Avoiding Mistakes: Minimizing errors, such as defensive lapses or missed chances, that can cost the team goals.

Ultimately, winning a match in football is a complex interplay of various factors, and success often depends on the specific circumstances and the quality of the opposition.

17.) 30 Sep 2023 21:39:04
Some of these posts are hilarious. Strangeways is Maze, Trafford etc I assume back for another go, new poster that knows every man and his dog’s opinions on Ole.

I know we get overreactions when we lose a game and it’s not been a great start but there are some quite obvious reasons why that is the case and I don’t think many of them are the manager. He’s not suddenly out of his depth and we can’t just keep sacking managers, every time we get into the champions league we struggle the following season as once we get top 4 we suddenly don’t have money to spend, have a terrible summer and struggle. We need new owners not a new manager.

18.) 01 Oct 2023 14:21:18
New owners if they bring in a new a new CEO and new Sporting director. ETah stays only if he fits the with sporting director.

I would bring in Overmars but would disable the camera on his job phone.

Anyone think we’re still in for Kane?

Tbh I think we’re foolish not to be, we must be.

The enticement of Kane being the PL all time striker is too much for him I feel, and I actually think Utd hold all the cards here, Levy has been told by the owners that they would rather have Kane sold then leave on a free, so far only Bayern are in for him, Spurs could agree to Sell Kane for say xxx, now this is all dependent on what offers Kane has and whether he wants Bundes over PL, could Utd swoop in last day of the season matching Bayerns offer and if Kane chooses England, Spurs really have no choice but to Sell to us, It’s not outside the realms of possibility.

bgolgo

1.) 02 Aug 2023 00:22:35
No we are not. We have our 1st choice striker. Alea iacta est.

2.) 02 Aug 2023 00:25:41
I don't think so because of FFP considerations. Let's say we had a 5 year contract at the low price of £70m but we have to pay him £450k per week (i. e more than Spurs have reportedly offered him to stay) . Total wage cost would be £37.5m a year excluding agent's fees. I think the club is looking to build for the future around younger players.

3.) 02 Aug 2023 01:05:37
It does seem bizarre that we are not in for him. He is literally the missing piece of the jigsaw for me.

I think the club really wanted Kane, but feared getting caught in a saga which ended with us getting no one.

Maybe Kane will hold out and wind down his contract, then join us or Chelsea for free next season.

4.) 02 Aug 2023 06:57:32
It's simple, the Kane deal would have taken our entire summer budget, and would probably have taken all summer to complete. It would have been the ultimate "all eggs in one basket" deal.

The team needed more than just one player this summer so Kane makes no sense.

I expect to see Kane stay at Spurs this summer, I doubt he'll sign a new deal. Apparently he was promised that if he gave Spurs an extra year then they would allow him to leave. They then moved the goalposts after he signed the new deal and refused to agree a move to City. This has reportedly up set Kane and he will not sign a new deal.

But Levy is stubborn and won't drop his asking price. This stalemate Wil mean Kane stays at Spurs at least until January. Where he can sign a pre-contract with a foreign team such as Bayern. Or Spurs can agree a deal with a club and sell him for something rather than lose him for free 6 months later.

My feeling is that Kane will move to an English club in January probably for around 40-60m.

5.) 02 Aug 2023 08:12:56
Feels like Kane could be more a Chelsea signing under Poch. If the man is settled and happy in London, his options are limited outside of staying at Spurs or Chelsea. Bayern wouud be a cool move -
Trophies galore at one of Europe’s greatest clubs to round off a good career.

As for us, we have our new No9 from Atalanta, and I fully expect to see Greenwod back too to supplement that position who, like it or not before his incident (and I’m not getting into the morals of the decision), was becoming a 90-100m player in todays market.

{Ed002's Note - He is not moving to Chelsea.}

6.) 02 Aug 2023 08:23:18
The ship has sailed. Most likely Bayern for towards £90m, if not he'll sign up for life at the Spurs later in the season if he feels there is improvement under Postecoglou. He's put his faith in the last few managers to turn things around and they've failed miserably. For Spurs' sake I've got a better feeling with the latest manager, but they need significant additions in def/ mid IMO.

7.) 02 Aug 2023 11:17:35
Having read some of the previous replies by the eds, we were looking one out and out striker and one to play of the striker. having got Hojland, we no longer need or are looking for another centre forward (includng Kane, who was too expensive given he had one year left on his contract and 30years old) . Ramos could still be in the mix but there seems to be an issue with a fee to agents (about £8m) which continues to end of August. So I wouldn't be surprised if Ramos will be subject of a last day bid around £70m and would mean we didn't have to pay the extra agent money.

8.) 02 Aug 2023 11:53:05
Levy did not want to sell Kane to an EPL rival and he is perfectly entitled to do that.

Once we knew that it was going to be extremely difficult to get Kane and cost two s tpounds of flesh we walked away, rightly so.

There is a point at which the cost of a transfer does not make sense and we have seen Levy at work before, he's not playing ball with Bayern and he isn't letting Kane go for kess than what he wants from Bayern. I am confident that it sould have cost us more as a EPL rival.

Finally it seems that Levy is still hopeful that under a new manager he can keep Kane on a new deal and if that is still a possibility than Kane's price goes up again in Levys eyes. Kane i don't think will come out and upset Spurs fans by demanding an EPL move so really the ball is with Levy to do as he wishes here.

I don't think this is about money for Kane either, if it was then he could see his contract out and get an absolute fortune from Saudi next year, imagine what he could earn on a 4 or 5 year deal on a free.

9.) 02 Aug 2023 12:34:05
Imagine we sign him and he pulls an Alexi Sanchez, that would be a nightmare come true.

10.) 02 Aug 2023 13:37:46
I assumed Ramos could be put in the same category as Kane in terms of value / position - why would Hojlund's signing eliminate Kane but not Ramos?

{Ed002's Note - e wise he is not an out and out striker.}

City through to Final, NGL the thoughts of them winning the treble scares me, really hope Madrid smash them.

bgolgo

1.) 23 Apr 2023 13:12:18
Unfortunately it seems as if the stars are aligning for a City treble. Much though I hate to admit it they win the treble then they deserve it for the consistent high quality football they have played for this and the past five or six seasons. We have to be gracious in defeat even if it sticks in our throats.

Hi Guys, been a while since I posted but felt it was time with the winds of change blowing through OT.

Great appointment by the club to move into a more modern footballing philosophy, it seems that the mistakes of the ESL was the catalyst for the owners to actually focus on footballing aspects to improve on the pitch results therefore more money for them. Because the ESl ain’t going to give it to em

Outside of how we all feel about the owners I think this also falls off the back of the exit of Woodworm, it’s strikes me his successor does not want to be subjected with the high level of mediocrity that woodworm inflicted on us over the last 10 years, and as far as I’m concerned some fresh ideas and philosophy is well over due.

Seen this piece about the discussion on the Free Kick “competition”

This should shed some light on the comments, based on this not sure what the big deal is? You practice, you do well in training you earn the right to take it to the pitch

"Juan is the best one when he feels like it, " the Norwegian said per ManUtd. com.

"But they practiced yesterday and Juan told me that Fred was unbelievable in training.

"He scored six or seven on the bounce apparently, and they both felt this was his moment. That was the decision they made there and then. Probably the right decision, but it didn't work out well”.

singh every time you read something about are once great club it sinks to a alltime low. pundits already saying we will make bruno go backwards with ole.

Pundits always like to kick United when we are struggling, fortunately pundits tend to be more wrong than right.
For the first time in a long time I am genuinely excited to watch a player grace the Old Trafford pitch, I hope he has the arrogance to do well, could he be that Cantona-esq player who galvanises the youngsters and shows them the way forward, we can only hope.

I am looking forward to seeing Bruno, hopefully he will start. Seen many debuts in the last 52 years of watching, none as spectacular as that other Portuguese chap.

Interesting the club are refining the point Ole made because the original post match comment was pathetic.

"United do not want to pay what Barcelona want because Van Gaal decided, despite contact with the player, that he was now not needed."

I’d be surprised if Ten Hag gave Rashford the armband, motivational or not he’s not put the performance in to warrant it, he has to earn it, it won’t be given Willy nilly. If anything it sends the message it could have been his….

Make no bones about it, its the person under the scrutiny due to his performances against Newcastle….

Manager continues to play him in the hopes performances improve, doesn’t and hucks off the manager to the press.

This insanity has to stop, this is not a ETH issue it’s a player issue.

Just posted on that Ken, absolute disgrace of a club.
I know people are saying stop trying for him he doesn’t want to come, but I’m sure the player will also want to now feel appreciated more than anything and who better than his old Manager and fans that will 100% be behind him no matter what, also playing a MF that he prefers.
