This scholes guy talks so much nonsense, he's turning into agbonlahor. I don't think he even played for us and he just has nothing good to say!

Latest he's sayin why buy sesko when we had Hojlund. Does scholes have dementia, does he not know that Hojlund couldn't do nothing for 2 years at our club!

Agree6 Disagree0

16 goals in his first season, 5 in the champions league and 10 in the premier league.

Hojlunds first season wasnt bad necessarily, i assume if Sesko hits 10ish league goals this season fans would be happy with that.

No doubt Hojlunds second season was a car crash but so was everyones apart from Bruno, who took penalties, no one scored any goals last season, its why we finished 15th lol.

Scholes overall point of replacing a young, talented raw striker with another young, talented and raw striker is fair and makes sense to me.

Only hope is that Sesko is physically more suited to the league and should be able to deal with premier league centre backs more easily but its too early to say.

But, but, DSG, he "couldn't do nothing" ?.

15 Oct 2025 15:20:17
He had a decent first season. He scored 16 goals in total, 10 League, 5 Champions League and 1 FA Cup. A reasonable return for a 20/ 21 yr old in his first season in a new league and it was widely held the service he received was very much sub par.

In his second season his performances were much poorer and his goals return very poor. However, the service he received was much worse than his first season, indeed it was basically non-existent. He was totally hung out to dry, playing every game with no support or service.

How on earth was he supposed to flourish under those conditions? It was a no win situation for him and throughout his attitude was exemplary, no moaning or complaining just a desire to succeed. Remember he did not want to leave and was pretty much forced out.

While Scholes is quite capable of talking nonsense at times, there is some truth to what he said, although I think we were right to go for Sesko, but we should of kept Hojlund so they could of helped each other and provided competition for each other. I think we should have 2 strikers available and Zirkzee is more of a No 10.

Singh, I disagree with your assessment of Hojlund and think you need to look a bit deeper before being so dismissive.

15 Oct 2025 15:36:48
I don't think Rasmus is a bad player and u nevrr know he might go on to be a fantastic playrr but scholes always has something bad to say abt united at the moment.

The guy clearly wants youtube views or hits on his channel.

I like Hojlund but it wasnt like he was pulling any trees and for us to miss out on Sesko woulsve been bad.

Sesko already looks like a lot stronger and looks like a better footballer already.

Sometimes you have to create your own luck and Hojlund wasnt doing it I disnt see him takin people on or doing anything like that!

How come Zirkzee is still here and Hojlund gone?

Sesko has a very high cieling and I think he will go on to be a very good player for us.

Why I don't like people like Scholes is that he's a ex Unites player and the ay he talks about Amorim and our players it has a negarive effect on players and manager.

He should be pro United and not anti and these guys are in the media like parrots anyways they got told what to say!

15 Oct 2025 15:55:58
Ahhh Yes Paul Scholes needs youtube hits and media fame desperately lol.

Hes like the most down to earth former player we have and is a fan of the club and mostly echoing what we are saying.

Of course the club are being criticised by former players and even people who are not associated with the club. We are rubbish at the moment and deserve all the criticism we are getting.

One way to stop the criticism is to i don't know, win some football matches lol.

Who cares what he says?
He is paid to give his opinion amd make noise.
If you listen to any of them and take what they say to beat your mad.
Merson failed manager. Badly
Neville failed managers. Badly
Keane failed manager Badly.
I think scholes did it for a few weeks at Salford Badly.
None are in a position where they have won anything as a manager.
I would love a manager live on sky after neville has been critical to ask neville 'if you think we are doing bad can you share from your expertise on what you did to turn things around at valencia'? i'd like to see him squirming at that one live on tv.

I thought he made a reasonable point. We bought a young striker with potential and expected him to carry the team. He failed. So guess what, we shipped him out and have done exactly the same thing, bought a young striker with potential expecting him to carry the team. That was his point.

15 Oct 2025 16:20:51
Yes, Sesko looked good against Sunderland, especially first half, but why? ask yourself the question. It was because he got a lot of service. Also it was crystal clear Lammens had been instructed to go long and not just play short all the time and given that Ben is 6'5''that play's to one of his strengths.

Let's not forget in his first few games he was getting criticism from all the so called 'experts' and being compared to Rasmus. Then give him plenty of the ball and hey he looked good, strange eh!

More than any other player on the pitch your striker is dependent upon his teammates and without that support they will fail.

I have no doubt if Rasmus was playing for a team that produced opportunities he will score a decent amount of goals.

Singh, you refer to Zirkzee, I think he was injured during a part of the summer, hindering a potential sale, and there is much talk that he will leave in Jan.

15 Oct 2025 17:39:11
Singh are you sure it wasn't Schmeichel that said that? I've just read the BBC webiste and he says all those things.

15 Oct 2025 19:41:33
That OP aged well ?.

15 Oct 2025 21:27:24
In fairness, it is very easy to mistake Scholes and Schmeichel. Practically twins.

15 Oct 2025 21:48:18
Arnie and Danny divito.

15 Oct 2025 22:38:06
In fairness to Singh and his original post, he was quite right saying it was Scholes who said those things. As it turns out Schmeichel did also say things about Rasmus, which were carried by the BBC today.

The ex players have earned a living criticising each manager, except of course Ole and Ruud. They, of course, understood the spirit of the club according to our ex players.

At a time when we get bland meaningless platitudes from managers, pundits and players, people want to read and hear louder noise. These ex players won’t be happy with anything until we win the league again, but they also know vanilla nonsense doesn’t earn money. Negative United comment will get more clicks, so never be surprised at pundits doing that.

As Tumble TW said, these ex players are sat in comfy chairs, paid to be critical, have little or no management or coaching ot tactical know how, yet think they know a player, yet don’t and attempts at management have failed. Occasionally they may make a good point but a broken clock is right twice a day. Managing any team can be tough, it became easier, as it does, for SAF when he had a squad of players he brought in, far easier to manage a team with those you selected and brought in and that’s true in business. Maybe that is a key point and not appreciated, all the managers since SAF have had Heinz 67 teams, mixes of previous managers, no one has built their own. When the team are the ones you as boss brought in, they are far easier to mould. You won’t hear that from the pundits.

On the one hand, I can see where he’s coming from. Signing a young striker with potential when we already have a young striker with potential doesn’t make a lot of sense on paper.

However, after last season, I don’t see how we could have gone into this one with Hojlund as our main striker. Granted, a big part of his troubles in front of goal were down to poor service, and him feeling that he needed to drop deep to get on the ball, but we couldn’t run the risk of the same thing happening again this time around.

Personally, I’d have preferred to see us sign a more experienced striker that Hojlund could have learned from or keep Hojlund at the club to rotate with Sesko (I expect he’d have had a much better season this time out, with Cuhna and Mbuemo feeding him and the competition with Sesko forcing him to up his game), but we are where we are, and there’s no going back now.

With that in mind, I’m not really sure how helpful Scholes’ comments are.

16 Oct 2025 08:29:14
Did RA not have a worse record than Neville at Valencia, or did I read that wrong?

16 Oct 2025 23:12:40
Sorry gius. It is don't agree. Look at the actual number of times Hojlund was played the ball, but he couldn't find space, was always getting beaten in the air or in challenges and can't find a pass either and to be honest he couldn't trap a bag of cement.

Just not true he didn't get service, he often couldn't receive service because he didn't find or create space, and when you do nothing when the balls played to you, then players stop playing it to you, because you do nothing with it, so you become your own problem.

Lots of times he had the ball running at or beyond defenders but he just didn't make anything happen.

Id be pleased for him if it worked out, but blaming others for lack of service is folly when he'd rather wrestle a defender than be five yards away from tbem, his movement was shocking, he didn't pull players away to ensure others could progress and he was very often the reason transition broke down rather than a victim of it.

No sense rewriting history because he goes to the top team in Italy in a sub standard league and happens to have an okay, not good, an okay start.

Still, the lad has scored 8 (I believe) for club and country since leaving. Not to be sniffed at, despite both being lower level than the Prem.
