New deal for Bruno. Fair enough. I have my issues with him but his desire and application is unquestioned. While others have hid behind injury, he's always available and gives everything for the team. Let's hope he leads us to some glory this season!

While I'm not a fan of some of his antics on the pitch, his value to the side is unquestionable.
He's got close to 100 goals and assists in around 150 games for us. Meaning close to two thirds of the time he's made a telling difference in our attack.
He's also rarely injured, he's missed 6 games in his entire career through injury, 2 of those were illness and not really an injury. He's also one of the fittest and hardest working players in the team.
I can't think of too many players in the squad who deserve to be paid more than him. Supposedly it's a 3 year deal until 2027 which will take him to 32, with a further 1 year option. Which isn't a long term deal until he's in his mid-thirties.
It keeps him at the club for the remainder of his peak years, giving the club a top level and consistent performer with experience to help lead the younger players.

I'm delighted. Our best player and talisman. Correct decision.

Makes absolute sense. He is the current captain, rarely I injured and wants to play for the club. Appears to have a good relationship with the young players that are in the group that will be our core of our team going forward.
Looking forward to seeing how he plays with better ball players in the team.

Not what Utd need at all. I was hoping he might be sold and Utd would replace him with a midfielder who better controls the game and gives the ball away less.
11 Aug 2024 13:37:21
MancMan, got to take chances when being creative. His stats speak for themselves - with someone more conservative we'd have done much worse, especially as we've struggled with a consistent front line.
11 Aug 2024 13:50:23
Fernandes showed in yesterday’s game why he should be in our starting lineup. The lads quality. It’s mental people want him sold.
11 Aug 2024 14:27:02
Great news.
He gets criticism about his attributes to be a captain. Did anyone see him with Malacia when he got back on the grass? That was proper captain behaviour.
I’ll never defend his antics on the pitch although he did improve his behaviour a little in the second half of last season.
A brilliant footballer who walks into any side in the world imo.
11 Aug 2024 15:36:23
He’s United’s best player by some distance and the captain. He deserves to be be paid the most.
I agree some of his rolling around the floor and waving arms around is annoying, but I think it’s got a little better.
But nobody can deny his contribution to the team. Dread to think where the team would be without him.
11 Aug 2024 15:34:03
Has there been a more divisive player in recent years?
Not sure he’d get in any midfield in the world but most for sure. One of our very few players that can produce a piece of magic from nothing.
11 Aug 2024 15:51:59
Bruno should not be Captain, I would argue he is inconsistent and if we want any sort of structure and plan he breaks it because tactically he runs out of position. When in midfield he runs out of position, leaves gaps and for me he would be a tactical concern, unless he has two solid tactically disciplined CM behind him. He also needs to focus and not give the ball away as much as he does. He does give his all, but someone is going to have to make him focus to be tighter to the role than he has been. The false nine he played suited us against City because there was a structure behind him, his running out of position was not as destructive to us, but against teams that sit deeper they will cause issues if he is in midfield and gets out of position as he has done.
Personally I am not sure he merits the big rise, but perhaps the two to three years will be a bridge to one of the young talents. We shall see but I am not celebrating the new contract strongly.

He's a difference maker. Just needs to play the right pass. Not daft 80 yard rubbish. also needs to choose the right shot, he took some bad shots last year. Pointless ones. But he showed yesterday with his offside goal and a few moments in the final third why he is so important for us.
Mason mount was anonymous yesterday, you can see bruno's impact.
11 Aug 2024 16:16:23
Whilst we still plan on being a bad team and reliant on counter attacks, makes sense to keep bruno as he can produce moments of magic.
I assume when we start becoming a good football team he will be phased out.
Bruno over mount anyday of the week though, mount always looks like a passenger to me.
11 Aug 2024 17:55:37
That's the point Dodgy, his decision making and his tactical discipline are terrible and it affects how the team plays and who plays.
I'm not doubting his ability but there's a lot more required to be a top footballer and he hasn't got it.
Utd won't win the league with him because you can't win the league playing the sort of football he forces the team to play and carrying the multitude of mistakes he makes.
Mounts continued ineffectiveness is also a concern.
11 Aug 2024 18:02:47
I think we did that to a degree yesterday, DSG. If you look at the possession stats in that game compared to the FA Cup Final, it was like night and day. Not many teams get in the high 40s percentage wise against City. I know the goal was a swift counter-attack, but I thought we held on to the ball a lot better than usual.
11 Aug 2024 18:53:53
Over the last couple of seasons, nobody has created more big chances than Bruno.
You put him in a team like City, Arsenal or Madrid over the last couple of years and he would have been considered the best player in the world, he is that good.
11 Aug 2024 20:13:55
But Grim, he can't play for those teams because he isn't disinclined enough to fit in their systems.
Guardiola would substitute him off after 10 minutes.
11 Aug 2024 20:37:47
In a better team, where he doesn't feel like he has to be superman, he will hopefully be more effective and disciplined. When he makes better decisions he is often one if the best players on the pitch, for club or country.
Eth needs to be prepared to sub him, rest him. And bruno needs to play his role in the team, not everyone else's. His quality will then shine through.
11 Aug 2024 20:58:19
Brunos special and easily one of the best in the world aand glad he's signed a contract.
11 Aug 2024 21:40:34
Talisman? Hahahaha. He's an ok player. Not world class and certainly doesn't get into any other top 6 side. i know you whiskey nose's won't like that but its a fact. We still have a better squad than you and we've signed no one yet. Good luck.
11 Aug 2024 22:23:21
Jesus RD, slow day mate?
Boring on the pool page, you have to come over here? ?.
11 Aug 2024 22:32:45
Guardiola would love him.
11 Aug 2024 22:36:38
“It’s a fact” lol you’ll make lots of friends round here RD, loads of peoples opinions are facts. Typical rival fan talking rubbish. He gets into Liverpool’s midfield all day, imo. The only question mark is would he replace De Bruyne, doubtful. The next would be Odegaard who is a super player, Bruno is on par probably slightly better.
12 Aug 2024 07:20:25
I just love the idea people think Bruno can’t play football a certain way.
He’s a top drawer player for club and country where he follows the instructions of his manager for both.
12 Aug 2024 08:00:13
I'm chuffed he's staying. He's been our best player since the moment he signed - and that hasn't changed.
Also love that he can produce moments that get you out of your seat. Awesome assists and great shooter.
12 Aug 2024 08:39:05
Coolant, have you ever seen him playing in any other way than the high risk, undisciplined style we see every week?
Have you seen do anything different than running around breaking the shape of the team and constantly giving the ball away?
Have you seem him play in a controlled fashion, retaining the ball and staying in a system? Because I haven't.
