David Ornstein reporting we're working on Rabiot. Thoughts? Seems to me the FDJ ship is sailing and we're having to resort to a secondary target again.

harry22899

1.) 08 Aug 2022 09:47:09
Terrible attitude, wouldn't go near him. Juventus wants to get rid of him, I don't see why we would want him.

2.) 08 Aug 2022 10:24:20
Secondary target? No this is blind panic buying, again.

3.) 08 Aug 2022 10:57:28
Read that as Blind and Pjanic then lol.

4.) 08 Aug 2022 12:10:07
I'd take those two over the ones mentioned.

5.) 08 Aug 2022 12:31:25
Is Rabiot the one with the mad mum?

6.) 08 Aug 2022 13:52:54
If Juventus are getting rid then that says it all.

7.) 08 Aug 2022 14:17:41
Rabiot is the one with his mother as his agent, and yes she is away with the fairies.

8.) 08 Aug 2022 21:50:31
Maybe his mum could be our DoF, only needs a spare 5 min a week.

9.) 08 Aug 2022 21:57:48
Strange player 3/ 4 years ago you thought he is a star in the making but has just fizzled out. Psg is a bit of clown show tbh so going there was probably the worst thing for his career. Surprised it has not worked out for him at juve.

Sky Sports reporting Haaland is flying into Manchester today. Wonder how true that is.

harry22899

1.) 20 Dec 2019 17:07:46
Not very it turns out, I had so much hope.

2.) 23 Dec 2019 16:31:58
We definitely need a different type of striker. Martial, Rashford and Greenwood all too similar.

A Llorente style player wouldve been a good option and he was free in the summer. It just gives you different options as the current set up are struggling against teams sitting back.

We definitely need a CB, CM and ST that are an improvement on what we already have.

09 Jul 2019 12:18:25
Sky sports reporting that United are enquiring about Lemina. Thoughts?

harry22899

1.) 09 Jul 2019 12:25:52
Would be an alright rotational squad player. Our midfield is very poor right now.

2.) 09 Jul 2019 12:38:27
never seen him play or even heard of him till today.

he may prove to be decent we are short in central midfield but we need to be adding a few quality older heads

ed001 have you got any info on what type of player he is?

thanks.

{Ed001's Note - nice technique and good skill but mentally he lacks concentration and will often end up caught chasing the play as he does not read the game that well. Bit like a poor man's Pogba but with more effort.}

3.) 09 Jul 2019 13:15:55
@Ed001 richman's Pogba earn over 300,000 per week and do nothing to justify the salary till now. Any Poorman's Pogba earn over 80,000 per week and do nothing to justify the salary. Richman can lose such money and still have something left, poorman will be even poorer. So Any poorman's pogba is worse than richman's pogba.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think you understand what the saying means.}

4.) 09 Jul 2019 13:19:58
Bolger,

Fairly sure he scored against us last season.

5.) 09 Jul 2019 13:38:13
LOL GSD that wouldn't be a surprise. most did :) )

6.) 09 Jul 2019 13:48:30
GDS2, i think most fans have tried to erase last season from their memories.

7.) 09 Jul 2019 14:13:04
cheers for the reply's.

i just want to be able to watch motd again.

8.) 09 Jul 2019 13:28:16
@Ed001 just saying how bad Pogba is playing. I just imagined what another player X (not Lemina) with similar mentality like pogba but have similar talent and earn less than him comes for United. he will be a waste too.

{Ed001's Note - I was not suggesting he was the same mentality as Pogba mate. A similar style of play, in that he wants to have the ball and do flashy things, but actually puts in some effort as well.}

9.) 09 Jul 2019 17:55:35
Reported by sly spurts, so I'll take very little if any notice of it. I wonder what the odds are on him moving to United are?

10.) 09 Jul 2019 19:13:54
Good few reports in the papers now shappy Could be a shrewd signing if he stays fit and recovers the form from his first season. If I recall correctly city had looked at him- well I think I saw Ed002 mention him on their page.

11.) 09 Jul 2019 19:55:33
Depends where the papers got their reports from. Most just copy from other media outlets. So it's entirely possible that the papers reports are based off of the sly spurts report.

Or that Lemina's agent has fabricated our interest to drum up interest in a player who no longer wants to play for Southampton.

12.) 09 Jul 2019 20:19:37
Very true mate. Just saw Simon Peach report it, and isn’t he meant to be one of the better journalists?

13.) 09 Jul 2019 21:23:26
A better journalist is like passing a better stool. It's much the same just easier to live with.

14.) 11 Jul 2019 08:29:06
Really hope Daniel James is given time to show what he can do.
We do have some fast players to counter attack.
Where do we think we will finish this season?
I think we could finish 4th or in a dream 2nd if we get couple more players and get rid of the weak and dead wood.

As much as i hate to be negative, the lack of activity is really beginning to concern me. Everyone else seems to go about getting a player and get it done. Look at Nicholas Pepe for example, was linked sometime last week and is now having a medical and will inevitably be unveiled in the coming days. Something just seems off with our business at the moment and I can't help but begin to be worried.

harry22899

1.) 29 Jul 2019 17:57:29
When you employ incompetents this is what happens.

2.) 29 Jul 2019 18:15:14
Perhaps Pepe’s club accepted the crazy offer Arsenal made for him?

3.) 29 Jul 2019 18:20:17
It's look like Bruno Fernandes has played his last game for sporting, I'm hoping that's a sign that he is on the verge of signing. Maguire was missing from the Leicester photo and training could be another sign. Things could be picking up or i could be completely wrong. Have any of the eds heard anything new?

4.) 29 Jul 2019 18:33:15
If the club was against him, due to reasons given by Ed002.they were no point of making a move for him as it would have been another expensive mistake as described by Editor.

5.) 29 Jul 2019 19:04:29
We're we ever in on Pepe, we may have enquired but maybe never really in for him. We have other priorities and with our youngsters able to play wide right maybe we are going with them this year.
Transfers take time, we are no different to any other club. Maybe a bit more inept but ultimately we want to pay as little as possible and a club want as much as possible. We have over paid in the past and are being cautious this year. I remember some of us praising Barcelona for this stance on Delight.

6.) 29 Jul 2019 19:14:53
I'm expecting a late flurry. Its a case of who blinks first.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree Mort I think you guys will be busy over the next few days.

7.) 30 Jul 2019 05:38:46
I too expect atleast 2 signings coming in.
Whoever is the decision maker cannot afford to make another mistake, so they will probably give all tools for the manager to succeed.

11 Jul 2019 10:01:56
Reports are picking up about Milinkovic-Savic, I personally believe he will be a fantastic signing, physically suited to the premier league, young and has played at a high level for a few years now, could be a star for years to come.

harry22899

1.) 11 Jul 2019 12:05:10
would be a great signing. hope it happens. may have had an off season but he is still a great talent. great potential and ability.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 10:39:30
Does that mean the move for Saul Niguez has failed?

3.) 11 Jul 2019 13:31:03
Saul cheap alternative per Ed002.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 13:40:10
Apparently Saul is a massive Atletic man and it sounds like it would be a challenge to get him. Ed002 also stated he would be very expensive.

SMS seems to be a more attainable player, but also seems expensive.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 13:53:30
I think people need to remember that Saul is already playing for a CL side who are much closer to challenging for titles than us.

We would be asking him to leave the city where he has lived since he was 11, move to a different country, to a region hardly known for its tropical climate or vibrant social/ cultural scenes, and play for a worse side. The sole incentive for moving here is more money.

Savic seems a far more sensible target.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 13:57:11
There is always more to a transfer than meets the eye. Real life isn't like football manager.

Firstly, Atletico Madrid would demand as much as 150m for Saul.

Secondly, from Saul's perspective currently a move from a UCL team to a Europa League team is likely to be seen as a step down. Plus I would imagine he would prefer to live in Madrid as opposed to Manchester. So persuading him to sign likely means offering him a huge wage. 250k+ I would imagine but that is pure speculation.

Whereas, SMS might see a move to United as a step up from Lazio. He might not be as settled in Rome as Saul is in Madrid. Plus his fee would likely be around 70-80m price bracket while on significantly lower wages than Saul would be.

So in a window where we need to sign at least three more players it might seem prudent to go after the cheaper and potentially easier transfer to complete.

Personally I think in this situation I would rather the club push the boat out and sign Saul, the player the club could have signed three and a half years ago for significantly less had the fans not pushed for LvG to be sacked. Hindsight hey.

I have concerns about SMS who is a supremely talented player but one who wants to push forward and play further forward than perhaps his skill set is best suited.

7.) 11 Jul 2019 14:35:29
Both will be rather expensive, Saul Niguez being particularly difficult to take from Atletico and more expensive, i'd be very happy with either.

8.) 11 Jul 2019 15:32:01
Well put Danny and Shappy, totally agree.

We need to be realistic in where we are. Unfortunately we are not the most attractive offering to players living abroad and already playing the CL.

Even during Fergie's days we struggled to sign certain players and that was with with the guarantee of CL football and a top class manager.

Usually i enjoy reading your insights shappy but saying Bellingham wouldn't be first choice just might be the most bizarre thing i've read on this site lol.

Would be a huge addition to the squad, unfortunately recent times have caused me to not get my hopes up. If we get Saul or Fernandes in this window or both would be fantastic. Knowing the hierachy we will end up with Fellaini again on a 6 month loan.

OGS is beloved by United fans for his service as a PLAYER not a manager. People need to be realistic in the fact that OGS isn't the manager to take this club forward, his managerial experience wasn't there to begin with, he and the team had the new manager fever which brought great initial results but as soon as he was offered the job it went downhill.

I want OGS to succeed as much as anyone but its just not going to happen. The club will do nothing but regret getting Poch or Allegri whilst they're available. Give Poch the backing he deserves and he will flourish.

Seems like a negotiation tool to push the Barcelona sale on in my opinion, as good a player he is we don't need another diva in the changing room Lingard and Pogba are more enough in itself! and who's to say we don't break the bank on him for him to repeat the same he's done with PSG, let's get Maguire, Bruno and Milinkovic-Savic over the line!

Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno are our best trio by a mile. Like Chris1 mentioned we've only lost once with them starting. Its unfortunately the huge drop of quality and the fact we turn into a completely different side in the second half.

ETH can only work with the tools he has at his disposable and considering the majority of the squad are the crumbs of the OGS era i'd say he's done a pretty good job in setting a standard and a style of play.

Judge him with a couple of windows under him, one trophy, final for another and actually competing for the UCL places is pretty good so far.

Fickle fans attacking him for a bad run, keep the same energy when he continues to keep us on the upwards trajectory he's already doing in his short time here.

i don't think the 4-2-3-1 is a horrendous idea. Have Fred and McTominay (when fit) sitting deep with Fernandes unlocking the defence doesn't sound bad to me, giving him as much freedom as possible will only benefit.

I couldn't agree more with all the points made here. When you put it into context we are still one of, if not the biggest clubs in the world yet we are run like a sunday league side.

What proven top class manager is going to want to come into that with instant pressure and scrutiny due to the lack of backing and general footballing knowledge from the people above? Because at the end of the day its the manager who ultimately gets punished.

Change from the bottom up is desperately needed.

My thoughts exactly Ken, seems strange that his agent and club are basically begging clubs to take him. It screams bad attitude or lack of ability, neither of which we currently need. I think a lot of people seriously underrate Grealish, when he's played as a number time he looks class. Has more goal involvements than any other English midfielder so far this season. Got a goal in him also, his goals against us and at the weekend were brilliant.

Grealish or Maddison would be excellent at this point, with McTominay out we'll definitely need someone to fill that void because Matic simply doesn't have the legs anymore. It would certainly be a good sign if we're able to sign a decent number 10, something we've been massively missing. I haven't seen much of Gedson Fernandes though, is he any good anyone?
