Amad on Ruben Amorim:

“He’s the coach who gave me more visibility and more opportunities to play for Manchester United.

“I was very sad. I even sent him a message to thank him for everything he did for me, both in my life and especially in my career.

“We had a very good relationship, almost like a father-and-son relationship. He understood me, gave me a lot of advice, and let me play freely. It’s very unfortunate, but that’s life.

For those on here who said the players were against him.

Amorim never lost the dressing room unlike all the other managers we've sacked.

INEOS are different to the previous ownership, they aren't making the same mistakes, they are making new ones entirely.

The issue here was clearly a breakdown in the relationship between Amorim and Wilcox. That relationship between the DoF and the manager is the most important relationship at the club.

From the outside perspective Wilcox was only visible when things were going well. He was absent every time we struggled. That is the time the DoF needs to come out and protect his manager and shield them. We didn't see that with Wilcox.

Then there are the rumours of him wanting to have too much input into the team tactics. The DoF should have a good tactical understanding and should be a good sounding board for the manager to bounce ideas off of. But they shouldn't be trying to pressure the manager to alter their tactics. Which again is something that has come out a few times, with reports leaked to the press about him suggesting ideas or changes to the tactics and formation. He has even publicly admitted that he can overstep due to his coaching background.

From my perspective I'm laying the majority of the blame for this mess at the feet of Wilcox. I don't think he's supported the manager as he should, in fact at times he has undermined him. He is also the one in the senior position so he has a greater responsibility to make the relationship work.

Personally if I was the club I'd be looking for a new director of football, not because he hired a manager who has ultimately failed, but because he was a key reason for why that manager failed. If he is going to continue to do his job as he has done then all managers will fail under him.

Jesus, can we move on? We are all clear on how we feel and why, I am happy to disagree and not fall out over it.

He's gone, the new owners are incompetent, Ole at the wheel, Southgate next year. Huzzah!
