Garnacho/ Jackson swap, thoughts?

Agree2 Disagree0

Just what we need, another forward who couldn't hit a barn door. I'd rather drag Rooney out of retirement.

17 Jul 2025 12:48:11
Why in the world would any sane person sanction that?

We're talking about Man Utd, sane?

I have thoughts on this but they’re not positive ones.

I can't understand the whole Jackson is useless. I don't say he i a world bitter, but he is a very good player all rounded and makes his team better. He would be a very good addition in our fluid frontline and because of his history (started as winger) he can play also as number 10, he can dribble press and he also goes to scoring positions, ok he must improve his finishing. But i think he is a very good player if the proce is right. I would like your opinions, ofcourse ed001 too because he has the best eyes for players.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, he is a very decent player who is improving year on year. He does have one other issue though - ill discipline. That is a big problem and is probably the main reason for him being available.}

Unfortunately Garnacho is refusing to entertain any offers outside of England.

Leaves us with less options and may be forced to do some kind of deal

Seen a report saying we could sell Garnacho and get the profit on the books for psr and then make a deal to take Jackson while still being in a healthy position for psr as we can spread the cost

The boost is getting the cash for Garnacho and if the only way to do so is by getting Jackson I won’t be aposed to it,

The striker market is thin, is he better than Hojland 100 percent, is he better than Watkins no but he is 24 which adds to a sell on value if it doesn’t work out

We did have interest before he went to Chelsea so it might be the best for United to do a deal if it means we get pure profit for psr for Garnacho.

Only if they offer Jackson + £60m for Garnacho and then take Jackson back on a 5 year +1 loan covering all his wages.

17 Jul 2025 15:50:39
He is not so bad, getting better since he first arrived at Chelsea, might be all the level we can attract, certainly better than Rasmus or Zirkee,
Obviously would like better, but certainly better than we got, so that will do.

Jackson for Sancho more like it.

17 Jul 2025 16:41:05
I think there’s a player in Jackson, his finishing is erratic but he gets in the right places.

17 Jul 2025 16:45:35
He is better than garnacho at scoring goals which is his priority.

17 Jul 2025 16:33:04
Thanks Ed001, i didn't know about his attitide, i mean i know his record at receiving yellow cards is bad. I jut don't know if there is something more than that.
German, maybe he is not top but maybe he will prove to be a top signing. He can play also at 10 the time Mbuemo goes to African Cup and i just think he can fight with defenders and free up Cunha and Mbuemo to score.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate. It is a shame but he is young so he may calm down as he matures.}

17 Jul 2025 17:27:32
I like Jackson a lot. But if he has discipline issues, I'd steer well clear.

17 Jul 2025 17:51:11
I think he's definitely improving. For a while I remember thinking I'd never known a player who got so many chances without converting them. At least that points at a decent positioning/ movement, if not ruthlessness. Not a world-beater but much better than what we have and if we're going to need to be creative there's probably worse options.

17 Jul 2025 18:28:50
I have a friend who is a long time Chelsea season ticket holder. He reckons Jackson is a good player who just needs to mature. Wants him to stay.

17 Jul 2025 20:12:42
Jackson wouldn't be my first choice, but he 100% is an improvement on Højlund.

His finishing is poor, but he gets a lot of chances because his movement is good. He's technically a very good player, and he links attacks well. It's just better if he's the facilitator of the attack rather than the finisher. If he had players like Cunha and Mbeumo around him then I think that's a dangerous attack.

He has also shown improvement every year, so there is realistic hole that he can continue to improve.

At the right fee he wouldn't be a bad signing. The problem is as United fans we have come to expect the club to sign the best players. Unfortunately we just aren't in a position to do that right now.

It's all about building towards something better. In that regard some of the players we sign will be good enough to be part of that better team that can hopefully challenge for major honours in a few years time. Other signings will be stepping stone players. Players who improve us now, and who facilitate the team being able to play the way the manager wants. Only to become squad options in a few years when we can bring in better players to replace them in the first 11.

Jackson might be one of the latter type of signings, and trust me there will be a few of that type of signing over the next couple of years.

Jackson for Sancho and rashford, sure. Get those two parasites away from the club.
