All process aside, which we cannot shortcut, my concern is the potential lack of new players in place for the start of the pre season.
This puts Amorim on the back foot for the season, especially if we drag out the signings until after the season starts when he allegedly does his best work.
What I don't want is a raft of ready made excuses if/ when the season starts off poorly.
Certainly does not lend confidence to the prediction of being the Champions by 2028.
07 Jul 2025 07:31:30
Careful, Keefy - that type of negative talk isn't allowed on here. People will say to trust the process and the world-class structure of people we have in place.
07 Jul 2025 08:49:32
It's really frustrating. Utd always go late in the window but the importance of this window has been stressed by all and with the hope that lots would be done getting bodies in early for a good pre-season seemed imperative, given that in many recent seasons we've blamed woeful starts on poor pre-seasons. Well here we are again, hampered by no cash flow hamstrung by not being able to shift players. Berrada several times has said they've been planning this preseason for months. I fail to see what this team of 'best in class' are doing behind the scenes that their predecessors weren't.
07 Jul 2025 09:14:09
This manager has a 26% win rate in the league with this group of players. We definitely need new players!
07 Jul 2025 10:45:12
I have already expressed concerns and whilst recognising the financial mess we are in, are the club really showing they are supporting Amorim? He was clear on the importance of pre season training and yet reality is they are yet to buy key players. Let’s see how they go on and I would say the same as I said when the club didn’t support Mourinho. If Amorim is sat the day after the windows closes and doesn’t have the players he needs then he should walk away.
Lastly, we should all watch the year end financials, if dividends start being paid then it will leave a very bad taste given all the redundancies, penny pinching and messages of financial ruin.
07 Jul 2025 11:31:07
We all know the financial strait jacket Utd are in. We also know how desperate they are for new players. If we know it so do other clubs and it must be vvv difficult to get deals done. Utd should not ambe just chucking money around to get deals done nor should it be accepting stupidly low offers for their players.
This mess will take years to resolve but better to do the hard yards now than postpone it til later.
So we just have to sit tight and manage our expectations. The manager must feel the frustration even more than us
Our best contribution is to sit tight and support the team.
07 Jul 2025 11:55:51
My concern is not that we will not get the players, I have perhaps misplaced confidence in that. It’s more the unfortunate timing of any arrivals given the constraints we are working under.
Fingers crossed!
07 Jul 2025 13:27:02
Keefy / redman what do you propose they should do if players don't want to move unless on their terms and clubs don't want to buy?
Its not incompetence from the management in place now. Their hands are tied and players cannot be forced to move until they are happy that they have the best option for themselves.
Easy to be critical and make loads of noise but its very disingenuous imo. We are not in control the players are and the buying clubs are. Again imo its plain stupid to be moaning about a situation that they are trying to work through without being in control.
People that can't understand that are dumb or just idiots.
The timings are far from ideal but they can only deal with the hand they have and its a very weak hand. Football fans are a very fickle bunch and its clear from reading here that some don't have any understanding or tolerance for the position we are in.
07 Jul 2025 13:35:51
Redman or he could just simply do better with the players he has?
And no moaning everyone, you're not just an educated football fan, you're an idiot too. Any more names ken? ?.
07 Jul 2025 13:43:59
Ken
As said already, I am very financially astute but there has to be concern around what they are doing particularly timing wise. Clarified as important to get players in for preseason training yet it is very slow indeed!
See where we are at the end of the window but I don’t want to see dividends paid and not sign the right players.
07 Jul 2025 14:04:01
I doubt there will be dividends paid redman.
We can't force players out they are in the positron to dictate we are not.
We can't force it and I'm sure they are doing all they can to work through it.
@ angel. Try stupid, thick or just plain belligerent. Your take your choice all fit.
07 Jul 2025 14:15:28
Angelred, i have a basket full of apples, can you make me a strawberry shake out of that? If not, then i don't think its fair to ask Amorim to create a good football team with so many donkeys as ingredients.
07 Jul 2025 14:24:42
What you want to see Redman and what is reality are two different things…. And rightly so, I appreciate you love a stick to beat the glazers with and now trying to blame everyone for not getting players in or out is a bit childish, do you think they have all gone on holiday and said let’s not worry about it till the season starts…. it’s not an ideal world, if it was Starmer would not be trying to ruin the country too.
I am sure as much as you they would have loved all the outs done and all the ins in, and ll gone off on there merry way to pre season, but that’s just not the real world I’m afraid however much you rant and rave about it….
So saying you don’t want them taking dividends is really a bit silly.
07 Jul 2025 15:18:40
Redman to you propose we sign players before we sell players?
1 with what money
2 what if sancho and rashford don't move then and stay put
3 what if we get a crap deal and end up still paying half their wage. Fail psr and have ponts deducted?
Do you want the management to put the club in that position?
We can't force players out. You need to be patient. This has nothing to do with dividends its a contractual mess inherited that needs very careful and patient untangling.
Hard for some to understand obviously.
07 Jul 2025 15:47:02
Ken
How much are we short on the MBueno deal? Several million maybe? The structure of the deal? If we end up paying what they want anyway would the delay be worth it? That’s a frustration.
It’s a new financial year and if they are trying to do the MBueno deal surely they should have got that over the line. If they can’t afford it, why start?
I understand the challenges financially very well, better than most to be honest and we are suffering because of the profligacy of previous directors. I didn’t expect Players arriving in numbers but the MBueno deal really looks dragged out too long.
07 Jul 2025 15:55:53
Dear God Almighty, the end of the world must be nigh. I fully agree with what German has just said! never before has such an occurrence taken place.
If people say they understand the financial situation we are facing, yet want RA supported, which clearly everyone does, then suggest a realistic method of achieving this.
The stuff on here yesterday was, at best, disappointing. It seems to be almost a preference to complain. It was said on here yesterday that it has been 2 months since the bid for Mbuemo was made, it is actually 4 weeks and a couple of day's! We all want it completed asap, but who knows what is actually happening? We will probably end up paying pretty much what they originally said they wanted, but we may obtain far better term's for a payment schedule, which could affect other moves.
If we were a week from season start then, yes, have a moan. I will too, but it's 6 weeks (yesterday) until the first game. Only today have SOME of the player's turned up at Carrington for pre season. What practical difference would there be if signings had been made week's ago?
Do you really think the club would not want matter's to be further advanced?
I really hope some sanity can return as I don't think agreeing with German is something I can endure again!
07 Jul 2025 16:42:31
Redman they need an out. i'm sure they started the process because they felt that someone would sign rash or garnacho.
How do you know we are out on the structure or payment or amount. I'd say all that is easy resolved when e have space. We don't have space. You can't seem to see the forest because your standing in the trees.
There is a reason we can't close and that's because we don't have the space yet.
. maybe if elanga or Greenwood move we get an income that way.
But they need to know where they stand before they commit.
07 Jul 2025 17:24:39
Ken
We are all guessing on what the financial position is, it could also be better than you think. They could be using it to try to plead poverty. Certainly they give the impression we are in a mess.
I am not naive, I can see they need players out the door, I also know it isn’t instant either, so don’t misunderstand me.
I do wonder why they started with MBueno and not the CF we really desperately need, but once started it’s strange it has slowed. Maybe you are right and they factored in a sale, it didn’t happen and they have to wait.
We shall see.
07 Jul 2025 17:48:31
Your right we don't know anything for sure other than we need to get rid of players not in high demand.
Those players are holding out for their preferred move if they can get it and who can blame them.
Its tricky redman and not at all straightforward.
Ideally we could take big hits but can't or we will be docked points.
Psr is probably more of a concern than having funds.
We had to start on mbeumo he is hot property with loads on interest.
You really rate garnacho. Why no offers do you think?
Or is it that he is saying i only want to go to Chelsea and they are not biting? He will soften his stance in a couple of weeks if Chelsea don't make a move but until then we are stuck. Same with rashford. Sancho similar.
We all know its not ideal and I'm still waiting for some of our posters to come up with a suitable alternative strategy.
So far we have 'give them away' not possible or we fail psr
'Just sell them quicker' not possible without a buyer.
Tough spot and time is the only thing we have and I agree that's not on our side.
Im guessing all of our posters who call the hugely successful people idiots and incompetent are all at home retired counting their own millions from their huge successes.
They all know how to do everything and how to run big businesses, I'm sure they can work it all out while they sit on public transport on their way to the jobs they hate half the time and pick up a lot less than they think they deserve.
But everyone at united is an idiot??? you couldn't make it up.
07 Jul 2025 18:07:33
Ken what you mean Mbeumo is hot property, with who?
Tottenham was just press because the manager went there…. what other clubs you seen or know that is interested in him, maybe if there were other clubs that would have speeded us up, but I seen or heard of no one busting a gut to sign him, are you making that up?
{Ed025's Note - plenty of other clubs were interested GSC but Mbeumo came out and stated that he only wanted Utd mate, other interest then waned as nobody wants a player who wants to be somewhere else..
07 Jul 2025 18:45:42
German i don't know for sure but spurs made an offer according to bbc. Newcastle made an enquiry so there was interest and an offer.
Aa ed said there was interest from a few. He chose united, I'm guessing that united are stalling until they have an exit sorted. We can't just keep adding players until we sell some or things could get worse.
The players seems steadfast so must feel comfortable but he might get itchy feet soon. Profitable income from sell ons would be another option to move things along.
I also think goykeres might have joined us if we had been in a position to move quickly but we couldn't.
Rashford sancho Anthony and garnacho want to go to clubs that either don't want them or don't want to pay us enough. Nobody wants malacia or Shaw at the moment. Things will happen players may also have to soften their stance somewhat eventually.
I think that if Bruno had left goykeres cunha and mbeumo would all have been training at Carrington today plus a midfielder but he chose to stay and other sales failed to materialise yet.
Before the bruna fan club jump on insisting that's anti bruno its not. I was very 50/ 50 on that one.
But with no income to balance the book's we just have to be patient.
07 Jul 2025 19:46:37
Ken
Garnacho has talent, but his attitude is not right and it may put clubs off.
I was clear, we should have sold Bruno for £100m.
07 Jul 2025 21:15:36
But again he chose to stay. It was bit up to us or the club. He didn't want to go there. If Madrid had offered us 100m and him a place in the team he would have gone i think. But no big club came in for him with silly money like that.
07 Jul 2025 21:17:49
The club didn't force that sale redman perhaps they could hand but amorim wanted him to stay. I also think tj they thought they could pick up50m for garnacho easily but they misread that one i think most of us would have thought the same.
07 Jul 2025 22:25:56
Didn’t read my post again. I clearly said we cannot shortcut the process. It wasn’t a moan it’s a concern that we will be on the back foot.
I have confidence that the deals will happen. Just not as soon as we would ideally like.
I don’t think the adults are incompetent and never have I said as such.
