Cesko gives me real Zlatan vibes and not just because of his height but his shot power, athleticism, close control and comes with the upside of not speaking about himself in 3rd person ?

Needs to score more goals but looks like a beast.

IF, we can find the money for him and somehow do a deal our front line would look stacked in all positions.

FW - Cesko, Hojlund, Obi
RAM - Amad, Mbuemo, Bruno
LAM - Cunha, Mount, Zirkzee

I know there is so much more to do then sort out attack but when was the last time we even had one reliable right side option, yet alone front 3?

Having a scary attack has a knock on affect on the defense as opposition teams will have to double think before going on the offensive.

Maybe I'm too optimistic but with one game a week, we'll get a lot of training time with the manager and we might do something unexpected this season.

Sesko has all the attributes needed to be an elite striker, however he hasn't yet shown himself capable of putting it all together consistently in his performances.

He is very much a work in progress, someone who if signed we won't see the best of him for 2-3 years, in a similar vein to Højlund.

My worry with Sesko is he appears to be a scorer of great goals rather than a great goalscorer. Last season he managed a non-penalty xG in the league of 8.67, which he over performed by scoring 11 league goals. That suggests that he doesn't get into enough good positions to take shots with a high chance of scoring. Does he have that striker instinct. That figure by the way ranks him in 100th place across the top five leagues.

He has massive potential, but right now that is all it is, potential.

My worry is that he is is totally unproven at premier league level as Hoijland was. Are we going to be stuck with another expensive 70 million pound mistake?
It's a big risk that may or may not pay off.

Could well be another Rasmus, which is a huge worry. personally I prefer the here and now and an experienced striker, even if Sesko matures into great striker he would then be gone when that happens anyway, so I would prefer goals in the team from day one.
Watkins or Mateta for me over Sesko.

31 Jul 2025 13:53:22
Sesko would be a strong preference for me over Watkins.

31 Jul 2025 13:58:53
Hopefully the current regime has learned from the last and knows better than to spend £70m on a potential Rasmus v2.0. I wouldn’t pay more than £45m — if they’re not willing to accept that, fine. Go all in for Watkins, who’s a proven Premier League player.

31 Jul 2025 14:03:09
I do wish Watkins' name would go away. I just don't see him as the answer.

31 Jul 2025 14:06:58
I hope it comes off. He's got incredible potential. We've been burned in recent years just for going for what a player might be and it would certainly be 'safer' to go for any of the more experienced Prem strikers. That would be a very short-term instant fix. Sesko fits more in with the Ineos vision.

31 Jul 2025 15:01:39
I don't think he is a permanent answer either Fizz, but what we need is to return to a position in the league that provides better financial stability (European Football) and also helps our attractiveness for better players.

Do I think Watkins is the long term answer to making us league contender? Absolutely not. Do I think he would improve the team enough to take us closer to competing for the league in the future. Absolutely.

He outperformed all our players in terms of goal contributions last season, and he seems to have a solid attitude and work ethic. I’m not sure why so many people are against him—he’s clearly a useful option.

31 Jul 2025 15:40:30
Fizz, Sesko is exciting but he is young with potential, exactly what Rasmus was. Watkins is EPL proven, not as exciting, but he will score goals.

31 Jul 2025 17:34:03
Ken, I am interested in your opinion on why u want Sesko over Watkins, if you don't mind?

31 Jul 2025 21:37:30
I can see why people prefer Watkins over Sesko. The fact he’s prem proven. For me though, Sesko would be a great addition to this team. He’s big, powerful, quick, links midfield and attack really well and is extremely direct.
He doesn’t play with his back to goal. He does drop deep but that shouldn’t be a major problem with the likes of Mbeumo and Cunha in attack and Amad and Dorgu attacking from the wing back positions.

Watkins is a decent striker and if we did end up with him I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s just that Sesko is the right side of 25 with the potential to be world class.

31 Jul 2025 22:52:30
Why would Sesko be gone if he turns into a great striker? Huge assumption.

31 Jul 2025 23:40:18
I think Rasmus will surprise a few this year. He's going in the fantasy team that's for sure!

01 Aug 2025 02:39:29
I hope you are right for his own good. He had little or no service last year from which to progress his development so there is a glimmer of hope.

However I saw enough in the games he played to shift from supporting him because of this lack of service to deciding he is indeed well below EPL standard and sadly feel he will remain so.

I will happily eat humble pie in 9 months if the opposite happens.

Mbd I have not seen much of sesko tbh only what I can find online.
Ive read and lot about him and what others have said and written from past coaches to other sibject matter experts.
The reasons I'm not a big Watkins fan is because villa play a very different way to us and there is no guarantee he can change his game so that along with his age likely cost he is just as high risk imo and there is little or no improvement to come from him is my guess.
Good player with a decent record in the epl but i'd suggest part his best he plays a running game and while 30 is not what it used to be I think it would turn out to be a bad decision long term.
Im not so interested in the here and now and short term thinking. Its just the way I think. No right or wrong.
