Hi Ed, just wondering if you knew anything about these offers Xavi has on the table and whether Manchester United are looking at him.

Thanks, appreciated as usual.

Ay3

{Ed004's Note - I suspect he will have a few from mle sides and there has been none from Man Utd}

Hi Ed, a question for when you have time.
Would you happen to know if the interest in Rooney from Madrid is substantial?

Thanks.

Ay3

{Ed004's Note - It isn't}

Was just watching Revista de la liga and Guillem Balague (as unreliable as he is) just said that Chelsea and United have been in talks over Mata.

Chelsea are supposedly listening to offers of 40m euros or Rooney as a part of the deal, United rejected both offers.

However, he believes a deal will be made as it benefits both parties.

Take of it what you will, I don't believe it at all but can only hope. As much as I hate Chelsea, I love Mata.

Ay3

1.) Balague trying to look important again, thought I'd might happen til he opened his mouth

2.) Balague is as much an expert on Spanish football as we are on English football. For that matter; just because Mata is Spanish does not give Balague any real insight.

He believes that a deal will happen just as most of us believe that if Mata is available we will make a move.

3.) I don't understand all the pessimism, I reckon he'll sign.

4.) The deal makes sense and so I would not be overly surprised if we did sign him. My pessimism is down to Balague having any knowledge on the matter other than what he's read in the paper and pieced together himself.

5.) He works for sky, sky have a deadline day to promote.

6.) 21 Jan 2014 21:16:03
I have a good feeling about Mata.
In Moyes we trust.

Hi Ed, how are you? A little question, not only to you but other posters too. Do you think Kagawa is wanting to leave or better yet, would you happen to know if Manchester United are looking to offload him?

I cannot help but think something may happen and we'll lose a great talent due to lack of playing time. I'm not one to believe papers but the stories told in them don't help either.

Thanks, appreciate it as usual. {Ed002's Note - I don't know what he wants but I would suspect there could be interest shown in him that could lead to him moving on.}

Simon Stone of the BBC reporting Bruno Fernandes not on Ole's list as a transfer target.

Wait, what? lol.

Ay3

1.) 04 Aug 2019 20:21:25
And suddenly Simon Stone is all over Twitter and sites like this so job done. People are so naive, he’s got what he wanted from this which is retweets and exposure. I’m looking forward to Friday so all this nonsense stops and we can crack on with the season.

2.) 04 Aug 2019 20:25:10
Hes another one that has no clue. Trust ed002. That's all you need to do.

3.) 04 Aug 2019 20:26:08
I agree GDS- if no Dybala/ Fernandes what would be wrong with giving angel a crack in the number 10 role? Looks a cracking talent.

4.) 04 Aug 2019 20:27:41
GDS, is not a nobody who needs retweets. He’s a reliable journalist for the bbc. Some say he’s a mouthpiece for Man Utd. However if true it’s not the end of the world, but slightly worrying as we do need a midfielder going in to the new season and it’s frustrating that there 4 days left of the window and we haven’t got one.

5.) 04 Aug 2019 20:37:44
I personally don't believe it simply because Ed002 has said otherwise, and also many other outlets, he's been scouted etc. My surprise is that he has actually gone out on a limb and said this (he is fairly credible and not usually one for clickbait) . He didn't say 'no longer' or anything which surprises me.

I'm with you on waiting till it's all over etc GDS but this is a rumours site so you surely can't be giving me stick for posting it?

6.) 04 Aug 2019 20:43:40
Simon stone is supposedly a mouthpiece for the club. Only reports what he is told from club briefings. He is very reliable when it comes to United news.

7.) 04 Aug 2019 20:45:48
With herrera and fellanni gone, we definitely need a midfielder, mata and matic won't be starting every game, 2 of them too slow on the ball.
I'll be hoping for bruno to come in.
For me a cm should have been top of the list, pogba looking like he will be staying now and what if he starts sulking and trotting round the pitch not giving a f###.

8.) 04 Aug 2019 20:53:10
Been a lot of reports past 2 week or so, sporting have said no contact .
Maybe there was a change of plan.

9.) 04 Aug 2019 21:11:14
Got shot down a few days back for saying the triple signing of Dybala/ Fernandes/ Maguire wouldn't happen. Everybody panic! Time to get the cheque book out and sign fellaini back for 100 million!

10.) 04 Aug 2019 21:19:47
I still wouldn't be surprised to see us move for eriksen.

11.) 04 Aug 2019 21:30:35
Thanks a lot for the nod Caolan but I'm much more suited to a CM role. 😉.

12.) 04 Aug 2019 22:08:00
Ay3,

Certainly wasnt having a go or anything mate, it was always going to be posted on here, just frustrating. Simon stone reported an hour before the Wan Bissaka deal was announced that we weren’t interested, so much for him knowing what’s going on at the club.

13.) 04 Aug 2019 22:22:40
I believe Spurs will sign Lo Celso so I'm still confident in us landing Fernandes.

14.) 04 Aug 2019 22:23:05
No he didn’t, GDS. I’d like to see evidence where he did that!

15.) 04 Aug 2019 22:29:48
GDS, exactly. He then rowed back on it a bit with his next tweet. Covering all bases like most journalists.

Follow ed002. don't know how many times that man has been bang on and then you'll have posters here who doubt, question and flat out just not listen. I'm seeing a few already thinking that they know.

16.) 04 Aug 2019 23:01:12
Angelred that’ll still do! Polish those boots for Sunday 😂.

Does anyone know if the ban imposed on Raiola is likely to stand?

If so, would this mean any likelihood of Pogba to Juve is gone?

Thanks!

Ay3

{Ed002's Note - It is of no consequence to Pogba.}

1.) 09 May 2019 13:48:18
The ban on Raiola, what was the ban for?

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant as far as Manchester United are concerned.}

2.) 09 May 2019 13:58:46
Nice to read a different subject on here.

I have no knowledge on why Raiola has been banned other than what is available for us to read online, it looks like a three month ban in Italy which he is challenging.

If Juventus were interested in Pogba I'm sure Raiola could help it happen one way or another.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn’t make any difference to Pogba. No at all. Zippo. Nada. Move on.}

3.) 09 May 2019 14:12:44
Ed,

Can we cross Fernandes and Felix off the list as players available to us?

I don't reckon we would get any off them.

{Ed002's Note - If you like.}

4.) 09 May 2019 14:20:33
Ahh. Just after posting this i checked online that City have stepped back fron Fernandes but don't know how much trust is in there.

Thanks Anyway! 👍.

What do you guys think of Van Bastens radical ideas? I think they could be very very interesting and change football dramatically but seem highly unlikely to actually be implemented.

Ed002, you seem to know a lot on this stuff, if you have the time, it would be appreciated if you could perhaps add any input. What do you think, have there been any serious discussions or are these just being floated into the air?

Ay3

{Ed002's Note - The idea of abolishing offside is not going to happen but the idea of making it from the edge of the penalty area instead of halfway has been discussed before and was tried in one of the English cup competotions some years ago. Dribbled penalties has also been discussed and tried in the past.}

1.) 18 Jan 2017 20:07:40
I think he's lost his mind. If either of those ideas came in, it would be a disgrace. They used dribble penalties in the USA and it was terrible.

2.) 18 Jan 2017 20:08:47
if its van basten's ideas will every goal scored have to be a volley from the right hand side of the box? lol.

3.) 18 Jan 2017 23:04:07
In the latter 1970s, the North American Soccer League used a 30/ 35 yard line for offside (basically halfway between the top of the penalty area and the centerline) . I think having that today wouldn't be a bad idea.
The shootout mentioned was also used in the NASL and a lot of European players liked it at the time (from a certain distance you had 5 seconds to dribble the ball and shoot) .

Speaking of newer odd rules, if someone can explain the reasoning on how you can be offside on a direct free kick.

4.) 18 Jan 2017 23:06:40
I thought a lot of the ideas were pretty good and would help the flow of the game. I know people don't like change but sometimes change is good. Interesting you said about the edge of the area thing Ed002 as that is what came to my mind when I heard the idea from van Basten, getting rid of it completely wouldn't work but just in the box would be something I could see working.

Sin bins instead of yellow cards is also something that could work, especially for dissent, if people knew they were letting the team down for 10 minutes if they moaned at the ref they might think twice.

Sometimes when people come up with these ideas I think they are nuts but these ones I thought had something.

5.) 18 Jan 2017 23:25:14
Why change it to be similar to a less popular sport like rugby?

6.) 18 Jan 2017 23:43:43
To assume that everything about football is better than everything about rugby would be very short sided. The time keeping for one is something that football should be taking sooner than later. I always bring this up but so much time wasting on Sunday and an injury for Milner and still only 4 minutes added on, they make it up and people just accept it, does my head in.

7.) 19 Jan 2017 01:12:15
GDS you're absolutely correct on the time keeping issue and it needs at least a tweak if not a complete overhaul (maybe not for leagues, at least for FIFA events) .
Why the clock runs during an injury baffles me. The safety and treatment of the injured player should be paramount. There is a built-in procedure for the ref to stop play/ call in the physio. Once the ref starts the procedure, the clock should be stopped and then started again when the ball is in play.

8.) 19 Jan 2017 08:41:09
Have always believed a sin bin for 10 mins would be more appropriate when someone one commits a deliberate foul knowing he will get booked. better to ' take one for the team' than allow the opposition to gain an advantage. Would agree also that a player should be sent off for 10 mins if he abuses the referee

9.) 19 Jan 2017 12:18:11
I'd like to see rolling subs introduced to shop the time wasting there, and also allow physios on while play continues. I think these to changes would stop most of the time wasting and feigning injury

10.) 19 Jan 2017 12:40:53
I wish they'd leave the game alone, i'm still not over this '1 man kick off' shite.

Danny Welbeck said to be having a medical at Arsenal.

I personally think its a great buy for them imo, if he gets consistent games up top. I genuinely do rate the guy, he has great pace, strength, ability to hold up the ball, link up play will definitely improve at Arsenal and his finishing will get better if he plays in his favoured position. Could be a good move for his career. Not sure if its a loan or permanent deal though?

Ay3

1.) I would not loan him to Arsenal given they refused to sell us Vermallen and Wenger publicly said it. Why strengthen a rival in a position they most need. Sunderland would be ideal :)

If welbeck goes then I would assume RVP is just not match fit and no truth to the knee rumours.

2.) Looks like a loan. It's a good move for Arsenal and Danny; but I'm not convinced it's good for us. Arsenal may well prove to be our main rival for fourth spot this season and Welbeck may help them achieve that. I suppose on the flip side he won't be able to play against us (meaning they won't have a striker for the first game) and will potentially help them to take points from Liverpool. Time will tell. If it's true they're paying a £6m loan fee then it makes the Falcao deal look even better.

3.) Hopefully he leaves for the better of his career seems like a Sturridge type player to me could florish when at a different club

4.) His agent on talk. rt has just said welbeck wants a permanent deal and he has has a few offers in today that he will talk to United about.

I don't rate him so completely indifferent to the idea but why even consider arsenal or spurs given the previous history with them on transfers. We have to remember he will never be good enough to lead the line for United and not much good on the wings, unless you want a defender.

If we do sell outright I do hope we charge them a full amount plus a big premium, just like they have done to us in the past. 20 million would do nicely :)

On BT Sport the other day, they were all talking about how Tyler Blackett suddenly jumped the que and got himself a starting 11 place ahead of all the other young defenders at the club. They were saying how he wasn't rated as highly as some of the others but clearly LvG see's something in him.

Tbh, I think Tyler Blackett has only been playing because he's a left footer. What do you guys think?

Ay3

1.) 20 Aug 2014 08:37:37
Thats harsh, he was always rated highly by the club. He went off the boil abit last season and struggled to start with when he stepped up to the under 21's. But he is a tall athletic lad with pace, who is vomfortable on the ball and has a good understanding of the game. Yes Micheal Keane was thought of as being a bit ahead of him in terms of development but LvG took both out on tour and Blackett out shone Keane infront of LvG so that's why he may have chosen him ahead of Keane.

Being left footed probably does help a little bit as it gives more balance to the back three, and when you consider that in this formation the LCB has to cover the LB space as well to some degree then being left footed will help. Only the very best full backs can play at the highest level on the opposite side to their stronger foot, so it will mean the same for the LCB position.

2.) I don't think LvG would selects player just because he is left footed. That's doing a huge disservice to the player.
I agree that being "correct" footed may well give more balance, but it does not always follow so.
In my opinion, United best left back that I have seen (and I am 41 next month) was Denis Irwin. Although he was excellent with both feet, he was naturally right footed.

3.) He was never going to make it at MU as a left-back and was heckled at by the Birmingham fans. It was a good move by LvG to put him in the LCB role, I guess he reminded him a little of Martins-Indi. He put him there and he has stepped up. I suspect another loan move beckons if we can bring in one more CB.

4.) " I guess he reminded him a little of Martins-Indi." Sydney

You mean they have the same colour skin?

5.) Both play LCB.

Both play LB.

Both left-footed.

Both similar in build and strength.

Both aggressive in their styles of play.

Skin colour is kind of irrelevant here mate.

Doesn't work like that. The 25% sell on is given to us by Burnley, not Everton. Everton pay Burnley £30m and it costs Burnley £7.5m

Also, If Rooney is valued at £25m and we're giving them Rooney, it adds £25m more to the value and we can't make it look like a good thing by deducting it. making it become a £100m deal + £15m add ons.

As Ed said, its best us fans stay away from talking finances lol.

It didn't say he is no longer a target anywhere.

According to the reports, he is still a target, he just isn't the top priority anymore as Jose wanted a no. 10 but following Zlatan situation, will now prioritise a striker.

Would you agree the true winners are still Real Madrid?
Madrid seem to have placed the blame on United, I'm not sure if United will issue a response and are just waiting on time to free up or if they'll ignore it to avoid making a bigger mess. However, De Gea wanted the move and probably still will get it. Madrid are still in pole position IMO, they have a keeper in Navas who is highly regarded by the fans (as shown by the poll which claimed 87.7% or something of fans wanted Navas over De Gea), nor did they give in and pay €40m to United which will probably appease the board and fans.

Of course, it isn't the best situation as Navas will now have low morale as he was being pushed out, and apparently did not want to move to United before LvG spoke to him and he didn't really have a choice. However, as Ed002 said, they can get him on the cheap in January, although if he plays in CL, he will be cup tied (I think) so I'm not sure if that's the option they'll take, or they can get him on a free and give him the €12m signing on fee. It probably depends on what is being whispered into De Gea's ear atm but I'm sure he will probably still want the move. (Here's hoping he doesn't!)

Ultimately though, it's not the best situation and I don't know if all of this is just speculation on my part lol. United still lose out on £29m (including Navas). That said, if De Gea signs a new contract, this would be perfect.
