As per last year with the thiago rumours, the Spanish press are reporting that Bayern and Pep are in for Fabregas with United apparantley sitting in pole position to nab Schweinsteiger.

elbow55

1.) Chelsea have signed Fabregas
Would love Schweinsteiger at United tho

2.) Would prefer Schweinsteiger to Fabragas.

3.) I am reading the same thing. Also reading we bid for Muller two weeks ago. If Fabregas is announced at Bayern I can see one of them coming to Man U. Remember Schweinsteiger is 29 so not as young as some may realise. I can see Guardiola letting him go and using Kroos instead with Fabregas and Thiago in front. I can't see Muller to be honest, I just think he is ruffling his feathers. He is Munich through and through. I'm going to stick my neck out and say best scenario will be Schweinsteiger, Hummels, Shaw and Depay to come in.

Afternoon Ed, El Shaarawy is another making his return from injury at the moment after missing most of the season for Milan. I believe City were interested in him last summer but that fell apart. Do you know if United have an interest in him for this summer? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - None.}

Reports today stating Guilherme Siqueira who is currently on loan at Benfica has been targeted by Real Madrid as a replacement for Coentrao. Coentrao to United this window could still be on the cards.

elbow55

{Ed002's Note - Do the reports mention that he is on a season long loan and Benfica has the option to buy him in the summer?}

United will sign Herrera, Fellaini and Baines before 11 for a combined total of somewhere approaching 72 million pounds. Source: Gut feeling ;)

elbow55

1.) No chance mate, maybe Fellaini but not the other two.

New outgoing rumour - Sunderland bid £15 million for Welbeck. Surely we can't let Welbeck and Hernandez go with less than two weeks remaining?

elbow55

1.) Welbeck is our only source of pace through the middle. He won't be going.

2.) Far to good for sunderland

Patrice Evra's unveilling at Juventus today and a few interesting comments came out. One was that Van Gaal wanted him to stay and him leaving had nothing to do with United signing another left back (Shaw). He put his decision down to personal reasons (with a smile).

A Juventus official, Beppe Marotta was then asked about other issues. He confirmed that Juve will sign another player tomorrow, Romulo, who plays rb, cm, or rm. Then he was asked about Vidal having a medical in Manchester, his reply was "Yesterday he was here". Nothing more than that was said. No refusal, no admission, just a quick sentence. Also Vidal has not been included in the 25 man squad for their friendly this weekend although he did only start training again this week.

I'm starting to buy into this theory that Juve are completing their transfer business before Vidal is sold. This way they can get their deals done on the cheap without teams knowing they have 40 or 50 million to spend. Time will tell.

elbow55

1.) 31 Jul 2014 16:03:26
I've seen quite a few reports now stating that Vidal will hand in a transfer request if Juve try to block the move as he is very keen to move (makes sense baring in mind how much more he's likely to earn a year, also his agent will bag a fair few quid). But with Juventus making all these signings recently it does look as if they have money to spend from somewhere as they weren't in a strong state financially at the beginning of the window.

2.) I think they will have to sell to recuperate what they have spent. They couldn't wait for a big deal to get done before conducting their business.

3.) I really want all of this to be true about Vidal. It would be a midfield to reckoned with with him, Herrera and Mata in. All the signs are point to it; Juve do not have the money to splash around. They were flirting with the borders of FFP last year so need to remain neutral to positive this year on the books. They’re buying players. Their stance and approach seems weaker (if what said above is accurate).

I did post up about Utd being in on the medical the other day and it got shot down…but a few more news sources seem to agree now (at least).

Klopp has just shot down our Hummels dream calling our supposed deal garbage and laughed at the 20 million euro price.

elbow55

1.) It has nothing whatsoever to do with Klopp. He has no say on the fee or the players future.

2.) @Fresh!

Klopp will have little say in the fee, but will have a say in his future. If Klopp wants Hummels to stay, Dortmund will fight tooth and neck to keep him, unless of course the player expresses a clear desire to move on or a very big offer which is hard to turn down is made by some club (and why would anyone want to do that)

United's first pre season tour game takes place in the US on the 23rd of July, world cup final is 13th of July. Does anybody know if we plan to take a full squad from the off for van Gaal to work with? or does it depend on the players elimination during the world cup? Can only see De Gea and Mata having a problem to be honest, although if neither play much part at the world cup then they may be expected to travel to the US anyway.

elbow55

{Ed002's Note - Players in the later stages of the world cup will not go.}

1.) I'm looking forward to watching Wilson destroy some defences.

2.) I would imagine all fourteen of our players who are at the World Cup will miss that game. From there they will probably join up with the squad at different points in the pre-season, depending on their respective countries point of elimination from the tournament. I wouldn't expect to see DDG & Mata until very late on, I expect them to make at least the semi-finals.

3.) Yeah I hope so believe, although Spain have it tough, I also hope Holland don't get past the groups so LVG can get cracking - we need a very good pre-season to right the wrongs of last year and all our business done ASAP.

4.) I'm a little bit torn on that, The Beast. I thought that to begin with as well, but then part of me would like to see how for LvG can take this group of Holland players which isn't the greatest at the moment but has a lot of potential. However, I don't think they will get out the group anyway. Spain will win it for me with Chile second.

5.) Exactly the same but the other way around for me. I wanted him to do well, but then thought who cares if they do well or not, we are stuck with him irrespective. So if he does well, we have less prep time for the new season.

A big plus though is if he does well, maybe more players will want to join a world cup winning boss and will forego the lack of CL football for one season (clutching a bit)! Although any player that stupid to decline Utd for one year without CL football we should tell to bugger off anyway.

United target Kroos has been offered 4 million a year to join Real Madrid, got your work cut out there Woody to make that one happen now. Better news for United is that Roma have signed a midfielder as a potential replacement for Strootman. It is also believed that they have softened their "not for sale" stance on the Dutch international.

elbow55

1.) If money is a factor for Kroos £80k a week isn't that much for a German international, I imagine he'd be after a bit more than that.

2.) 4m per year equates to under 77k per week. I'd like to think we could beat that quite easily if we were so inclined!

3.) I think they mean £4m after tax. Therefore it would be £8m here in England.

4.) The articles about it say specifically £4m per year BEFORE tax. Easy to beat, that one. Were we so inclined.

5.) Flappy, they do my friend, but seems odd. Although it's still probably double what Kroos is currently getting now. I'm hoping we get one of Cesc or Kroos.

6.) It does seem odd, but then all the papers I've seen it in are well known for talking utter nonsense! Guess we'll just have to see how it pans out :)

Just a guess but i'd wager we have Carvalho deal ready in case this falls through. Vidal is obviously a different kettle of darts to Carvalho but Willy C has potential. Fingers crossed something happens between now and the start of the tour.

Sambo in case you have missed our pre season friendlies cleverley has been awful, gives the ball away under no pressure. seems an honest hard working lad but simply not good enough if we want to challenge again. his market value will be about 6 million which for an english midfielder in his prime says everything.

Agree with most of this. I think we will end up signing Shaw, Indi, Clasie, and Carvalho.
