I see Roy keane is taking a lot of stick in the media for his punditry and his views on this current United crop of players. is he really biased? does he have an agenda? or is he simply stating the truth?

I have to be fair to keano, he isn't saying anything that hasn't been said on here or on other platforms. For the most part I have to agree with his analysis. he's the only pundit out there who just tells it as it is, no watering down, no pandering to the club. he gives his opinion whether you like it or not, and I for one commend him for it.

Agree5 Disagree1

He’s a miserable fella, but he shoots from the hip and says what he sees. I like him.

03 Mar 2020 11:15:58
Agreed.

Keane on De Gea's blunder:
"I would have lynched him! "

03 Mar 2020 11:43:52
Imagine if there weren't people like Roy in the world, imagine if everybody said everybody was doing a good job when they weren't. I think that would be a very sad world.

03 Mar 2020 12:34:56
love him or loathe him (I love him) he's the type of leader you would want in the dressing room. As a pundit he's great, he's got that wry smile and irish wit that people can connect with. As a united fan he's basically saying what i'm thinking, not trying to kiss ass to get access or tickets etc. keep it up keano!

03 Mar 2020 13:16:29
He is a breath of fresh air on the tv.

03 Mar 2020 13:29:37
These overpampered babies need wakening up and Keano would certainly do that. Nearly every player these days is in their own bubble. They have no connection with fans at all. They can’t take criticism and hide behind agents.

03 Mar 2020 13:42:20
The truth often hurts. Molly coddling players into constantly believing they are gods, gives players a swelling ego with matching arrogance, that when combined can bring out over confidence resulting in errors and poor performances.

Players need to recognise that they've played bad and need to player better and work harder in training.

As far as Roy Keane goes, he is mostly being blunt and truthful. I'd imagine he would make a few players cry if he he gave them a 'talking to'.

03 Mar 2020 14:17:30
But you can see why he is not really cut out for managment.

03 Mar 2020 14:20:58
Keane just speaks the truth, shame not more of his character about today.

03 Mar 2020 14:34:53
Totally agree with Keane and the posters above. Players these days cannot accept criticism and unfortunately, the young kids are all too protected by everyone and it is making them averse to criticism. It is a sad fact of youth today.
I do like the way B Dortmund and other German clubs, make the players thank the fans after matches. It shows a sense of appreciation by the players and it comes across as a genuine gesture. Our club along with other PL clubs don't do anything like that, and consequently, the fans and players are worlds apart.

03 Mar 2020 14:38:55
He also said he'd give Ole more time 😉.

03 Mar 2020 14:47:17
Why are people surprised by such comments he isn't shooting from the hip or saying it as he sees, he is being controversial, it is how he earns money, same as scholes.

Neither have anything amounting to actual football analysis to present so they are controversial, got to get people talking about them because they have nothing actually concrete to add to a discussion.

03 Mar 2020 15:04:06
I think the latest ‘controversy’ is more related to saying Pickford isn’t up for it.

I just don’t see why people get upset by pundits. They’re performers. Roy Keane is paid by sky to play the Roy Keane character that complains that players aren’t tough like the old days etc. Their job is to try to push the audience’s buttons because that’s what keeps them tuned in for the adverts.

Agree with CSM football punditry is easily the bottom of all sports when it comes to actually analysing the sport.

Compare it to cricket or NFL and it is actually laughable seeing graham souness just blather on about how player x doesn't want it enough as if there is objective measure of wanting it.

03 Mar 2020 16:34:22
Roy Keane is what he is. He was a great player, but a prick. But he was our prick.

Loved him as a player, that said he would struggle to act the way he did in the modern game.

There is a reason why he has struggled to make it as a manager. The simple fact is players don't react to his style of motivation. In modern society it would be called bullying.

I really don't see a huge amount of difference between what Souness says and what Keane says. Very little actual analysis, just stuff about "wanting it more", "should have given him a kick there" etc etc.

All punditry has its place, but it's about recognising it for what it is. Keane and Souness like to reminisce about a time that was rather than analyse the football on display. Both clearly have their own bias and neither can be impartial.

There is no point getting upset, or putting too much into what these people say. As for Keane saying he'd lynch DDG for that mistake. Well Schmeichel made one or two mistakes. I wonder if Keane ever lynched him for that?

03 Mar 2020 18:20:42
I'd rather sit there and listen to an ex pro tell it as it is like him and sometimes Souness than sit there listening to the over analysed tactical crap that keeps being played out nowadays (Neville and Carra) . Neville and Carragher was great for 2 weeks until the novelty of Utd vs Pool pundits wore off now its boring.
You say what you see. On paper Pogba is world class but the eyes tell a different story, as a prime example.

03 Mar 2020 18:27:23
You bet he did and vice versa. sign of a great team when players can shaker and critisise each other (within reason) without taking the hump.

03 Mar 2020 21:22:43
Keane did give schmeichel a beating in their day! The two of them didn't get on at all!

03 Mar 2020 22:42:45
He is on tv its entertainment, I really like him and scholes . Personally I think g Neville is poor .
Scholes and Keane are imo just having a laugh scholes and Keane just treat it like a crack in the pub .

03 Mar 2020 23:09:03
We had eamonn dumphy on Irish tv doing the exact same thing for the last 30 years.
Taking extreme views and polar opinions and forthright statements on players. Every world cup they topped the ratings over bbc and itv.
Keane in particular has boosted sky ratings and creates huge social media content. ( see this thread)
Of course he means 90% of what he says but he is mostly commenting on moments in time but its gets sensationalized and creates headlines.
He is like the pantomime villain living up to his victor meldrew persona .
I like it and think its good viewing most out the time.
I particularly like when he throws out the bait to neville and souness.
He is a wind up merchant, i can see him out walking his dog wetting himself laughing to himself after creating another media storm. 😂😂.
