Mctom + 20mil for Mcginn.

Fred + 20mil for Neves.

Id love if that would happen.

Any thoughts on who should replace pogba?

Bruno has been a shadow of himself this season.

Granted not many players are like him but the likes of Kessie, Gravenberch or Neves could be more effective than he’s become. Rice is playing so well be the fee will be astronomical and it looks like a handful will be required. Maybe DvDB returns a new man.

2.) 11 Mar 2022 05:10:18
Yeah a new man who wouldn't even make an impact at Everton.

3.) 11 Mar 2022 06:09:02
lol McGinn?
No more mediocre players.

4.) 11 Mar 2022 08:06:04
You want to swap McFred for McNev? It's probably an upgrade but i don't think City, Liverpool, Madrid etc will be too worried.

5.) 11 Mar 2022 09:25:56
keep mctominay you need players like him in the squad, he might not be the best but I've never watched him and thought he doesn't give his all same to fred tbh, he might not be the best but work rate wise, we need it.

get a few players in that have the work ethic and it can be infectious

would love neves I've been saying it for 3 years get him in along with another cdm someone like Phillip's or rice.

6.) 11 Mar 2022 11:02:41
Replacing Fred with Neves, fine. Replacing McTominay with McGinn though? Makes no sense IMO.

McGinn is pretty good, but I'd much rather have McTominay. He's done pretty well for us over the last few years, even though he's been shackled by having to play a pseudo cdm role, when that isn't where his strengths lie.

McTominay is at his best when he has freedom to chase and harrass in the middle of the park, bursting through the midfield with the ball or arriving late on the edge of the box. Sharing the defensive duties with Fred handicaps him (both of them in fact) .

Give him a proper defensive midfielder alongside him and he's only going to get better.

7.) 11 Mar 2022 11:08:59
To be honest with the amount of players due to walk out on frees I can't see the club actively selling anyone on top. VdB, Dalot, Martial and Henderson would seemingly be the commodities (unless I'm mistaken and those are nearing the ends of their contracts too) .
I can see 3-4 signings plus the same amount of promotions from our youths/ reserves/ Forest lol. Laird, Mejbri, Garner I imagine are three players who couldn't do much worse than what we have.

8.) 11 Mar 2022 16:49:08
Mctominay plays at centre back for Scotland, he should be nowhere near our midfield as a starter and nowhere near our midfield as a reserve.

His role should be as an elite time wasting substitute when were looking to hold onto a lead.

9.) 11 Mar 2022 18:09:36
Mcginn and Neves lol, do we want to permanently be midtable?

10.) 11 Mar 2022 20:33:31
Not convinced McGinn belongs at a top club, think he’s probably flattering himself in the new Villa, but I reckon Neves wouldn’t be out if place in a CL midfield.

11.) 12 Mar 2022 08:38:27
Give your head a shake dsg. Mctominay is a more than able deputy to the midfield.

{Ed014's Note - I think Everton would have been better taking him than DVDB.

He’d likely thrive there played in the right position, it’s just the want of a player to take a step back to go forward in their careers.

Clearly he’d probably like to make it at United but he like you say be an able deputy.

12.) 12 Mar 2022 12:12:53
Im fine with him being 7th choice centre mid at the club doing the media rounds and coming on as a time wasting substitute.

Theres nothing wrong with that.

13.) 14 Mar 2022 16:47:52
DSG, he plays CB for Scotland because they don't have many quality CBs, and McGinn can fill a similar role in the midfield.

He isn't really a defensive player. If he was, we'd have a hell of a lot less problems. Instead he's best when he is free to press, run through the middle of the park and get in and around the box. He used to be a striker as a kid, and it shows.

If his passing were a bit better he might be world class, or at least close. As it is, I doubt he'll ever be world class, but still a perfectly good rotation option or sub and in the right games (when you need energy and aggressionmore than ), he's a nailed on starter.

14.) 15 Mar 2022 16:47:54
I agree DSG. every time i watch him i wonder how he gets in the first 11.
Constantly gives away possession by taking to long on the ball.
His passing is absolutely sh*te.
Always caught out of position when the opposing team counters.
He's just not good enough, just like Fred isn't good enough.
Just like Dalot, AWB, Maguire, Telles, Matic, DVB to name but a few are not good enough.
The club needs knocking down and rebuilding from scratch again which includes new owners and a new manager.

Kelechi Iheanacho anyone? How much would leicester city want?

navi

1.) 27 Apr 2021 10:52:00
hes on a good run of form but wouldn't suit our team

we need someone like a kane or lewandowski type cf.

2.) 27 Apr 2021 12:05:41
Will take DCL over Kelechi.

Unpopular opinion. but maybe pogba's best position is as a false 9. Has strength to hold play, keep the ball and play in runners. This allows rashford and martial to start wide and cut in. Also allows us to have 3 of bruno, vdb, fred, matic and mctominay in a solid midfield 3 with bruno/ vdb playing the no.10 or higher up of the 3. We don't need to worry about Pogba tracking back or not making tackles. Would love to see it but will likely never happen, atleast not as a starting lineup.

The issue with Pogba is that he has the talent to play multiple positions. He's fast, strong, technically gifted, a good dribbler, a good crosser, a good passer and a good shooter.

However, he seems to lack drive to make one position his own. His passing range and physicality would suggest he should be an excellent CDM, yet he doesn't have the commitment to do the ugly side of the game. While also playing deep means you negate his excellent shooting.

He could play as a No.10, yet he doesn't press enough and drifts in and out of the game in that position. While that position negates his passing range. The same would be true if he played as a false 9.

He could play wide, that would make the most of his passing range, his dribbling and pace, while the lessened defensive responsibility would probably suit him. Yet this would still negate his shooting ability.

I think Pogba plays best on the left of a three man midfield. Where he can drop deep to collect the ball, then drive at teams. The freedom means he can be deeper and use his passing range, or he can move forward into positions where he can either shoot or play the final pass. While having two other midfielders alongside him means his lack of effort defensively isn't so damaging.

The issue with playing him in this position is that you need to build the entire team around him, which means when he is having a bad day the whole team will struggle.

The reality is that he doesn't want to be here and we should sell him and then he is someone else's problem to work out how to get the best out of him.

2.) 21 Oct 2020 10:00:18
Pogba's best position is on bench. Otherwise its like we are playing with 10 men.

3.) 21 Oct 2020 10:38:36
We looked really good and even more threatening when he came onto the pitch.

Great bit of in game management by Ole, after martials inexplicable own goal i thought PSG could go on to win if we kept sitting back.

Bringing pogba on put PSG under pressure and that eventually told when rashford scored the winner.

Long season ahead, sometimes well go with 3 at the back, 4-2-3-1 and last night showed how well a 4-4-2 diamond can work. Plenty of games for out 6 first team centre mids to play in.

4.) 21 Oct 2020 11:31:42
As always, Pogba chooses when to play.
But yesterday when he came on, he played like he had a point to prove.
Held opposition players, showed strength and kept the ball.

5.) 21 Oct 2020 15:30:30
His best position is at the left side of a midfield 3 or in a diamond. Yesterday althought i always criticize him he was good.

A lot of praise for bailly and henderson whoch is deserved but nobody mentioning Dalot? Was our best attacking threat in my opinion, his one twos were brilliants, his crosses, his runs. if only we could have a rb with the defensive ability of awb and the offensive composure of dalot.

1.) 01 Oct 2020 17:02:43
I thought he was awful postinally and in possession personally. Couldn't pass the ball.

2.) 01 Oct 2020 18:16:01
Bailly saved his ass on multiple occasions. That said he was quite adventurous going forward, but end product was not quite there.

This is probably coming from left field but what about Todd Cantwell?
I've been impressed by some of his performances, I think he's scored against all top 6 six sides. No offence to Norwich but he deserves to be playing in the premier league. Can play LM, Cam or a Lam. is 2 years younger than Grealish, wouldn't be costing us £60 to 80mil and doesn't have the baggage of the off field antics that we've seen with Grealish. Realistic or just fantasy? What do people think.

navi

1.) 09 Jul 2020 05:39:03
I would personally have a character in the dressing room who has a little arrogance within him. We need a few of them. And Grealish can play midfield and forward positions which will suit us.

2.) 09 Jul 2020 06:45:12
I like Cantwell and he could very much be a good option to replace mata and lingard.

Really don’t see the love in with Grealish. Attitude stinks, he’s not going to displace Bruno in CAM. He’s not going to displace Rashford on the left. If he were to it would be down to injuries and for the price quoted he’d be a very expensive benchwarmer.

3.) 09 Jul 2020 07:59:34
Personally I'd have Todd Cantwell over Jack Grealish every time.

Cantwell is a couple of years younger, has a great attitude rather than a questionable one. During lockdown Todd called elderly Norwich supporters to keep their spirits up and so they wouldn't be lonely, whereas Grealish went around his mates breaking lockdown got drunk and crashed his car.

Also Cantwell has had a very good or great game against all the top six sides showing he has the mentality to step up when needed, whereas Grealish had a good game against us, but has disappeared against most of the other top sides.

Cantwell in my opinion will make the move to a bigger side and suddenly everyone will be raving about him just like James Maddison. He could be available for 30-40m this summer but be 80m+ next summer.

Bruno Fernandes had more shots (5), more shots on target (3) and made more passes (88) than any other United player in the match. at least one positive.
