It would seem we have reached a basic agreement with Brentford for Mbuemo,
£60m guaranteed base fee and £5m in extras. Only thing left to do is finalise the payment structure and determine the achievable add-ons that both clubs are happy with. Mbuemo will then undertake his medical.
Very close now! I can really see him and Cunha being transformative to our attacking play, they both seem absolutely ideal for the positions they are being bought to fill, while also being more than capable of playing anywhere across the forward line.
I personally would like to see Rashford off to Barcelona next, doing some form of swap deal for Ronald Araujo, Ideal for central Centre Back position 6' 4'' Very quick, very strong, great in the air. A beast of a defender, only downside is he's not the best with the ball at his feet. We shall see.

If £150k a week wages are true as well that will be another positive that we are learning from our current crop of players struggling to sell.

On paper Cunha and mbeumo make sense and look good signings.
But we’ve all been here before over the last few years with signings. But not many have turned out that way.
Fingers crossed this is a new era.
Helps they have plenty of premier league experience.

Think that's the point Fallguy, have we been here before?
This is buying established Premier League players who have been performing to a high standard for a while. Buying specific player's for specific positions with skillset's totally suited to those positions.
Previously it was buying player's from overseas leagues based more on what profile they could bring for commercial revenues.
Anyway, obviously no guarantees whoever you buy, but all we can do is hope there will be more right than wrong!

When was the last time we bought one of the best 10 players in the premier league from their respective clubs? Never mind 2 in 1 summer. It’s been a while that’s for sure.

It's a positive we have signed 2 players at their peak.
Almost guaranteed they will hit the ground running. Takes pressure off other attackers.

I really don't think we could have chosen two better players from the Prem for these positions than we have.

All we need now is someone up top who can score the goals.

Gds agreed. 2 extremely good signings. They will make a huge difference to our goals this year. I think if we sort that out, there will be less pressure on our defence and Onana if he is still there.

It feels like a weirdly sensible approach to transfers.
Recognising that we’re not in a position to buy the absolute best players in the league, but that we can buy quality players that have been effective here. More importantly, players that have a clear role in the manager’s system.

Cunha and Mbuemo scored 35 goals between them last season, almost as many as our whole team. Maybe Obi or Hojlund, if he's not sold or loaned out, will add a few and then Bruno and Amad will surely contribute some more. A top striker would be a boon but I think we'll score 55+ in the coming season without any further additions up top.

While these look like sensible signings on the surface, we’ve made plenty of decent-looking moves in recent years, only to see players melt under the pressure in front of 76,000 at Old Trafford.
Hopefully, these two have a bit more about them and don’t go the way of others we thought would turn us into contenders.

Second bid rejected apparently so this one has a bit to run yet.
