This approach could also backfire though. Sesko might see Newcastle pulling out all the stops to sign him and decide he’d rather go where he’s most wanted. Newcastle might agree to pay the majority of the fee up front so that we’re unable to match their bid.
I think the smarter play would be to get Sesko to make a decision. If he chooses us, Newcastle’s bid becomes somewhat inconsequential. They could offer £100m, but if the player decides that he wants us then Leipzig are kinda forced to sit down and negotiate a fee and structure that works for both parties.
We should get permission to talk to Sesko, pitch the project, then give him a few days to decide if he’s onboard. If he is - great - we strike a deal. If not, we move on to other targets and let Newcastle have him.

From a business perspective, that, imo, would be reckless.
Sesko's team, following a comprehensive agreement with a club, will then be obliged to follow through provisionally on the crap part of business - taxation and other associated financial rotters.
If we were to follow whatever Newcastle might have accepted by his club and his people with a proposition that differs in even the slightest way which could be deemed inferior, we inadvertently welcome the prospect of our hand being comparatively weak.
Imo, we'd be much better off making our offer, not trying to insult them with lowball swinging, and getting the player's suggested interest peaked by overtly reciprocating the desire to work with him through making the actual noises required.

Exactly AJH, but of course everyone likes a shiner new name to barrack if he don’t cut it, could we end up with worse than Rasmus, probably not, but we could end up with another potential that never comes to fruition……
Rasmus is poor, but we need to buy an experienced striker we need goals now not hopefully some in 2-3 years time…. who cares about resale value, let’s try get back in Europe this season and go from there.

I'd keep Hojlund with him AJH.
Also with Cunha and Mbuemo, they will really compliment the way Zirkzee plays. It's going to be a lot of fun up top this year.
