Ork has written an article entitled, Moves I Would Make As Manchester United Manager
02 Jan 2025 13:38:52
Quote from Alex Crook: “I know this for a fact: Manchester United were offered Ruben Amorim in the summer. They said NO because his style didn’t fit this squad. They then hired him weeks later. It doesn’t fill you with confidence, does it? ”
We can only hope this is either not true or the decision makers have changed their minds and understand a squad overhaul and change of direction was required.
If there is no money for transfers and they are expecting Amorim to get the best out of this squad for which they already know most of the current players are not suitable then they are more incompetent than the Glazers and we’re in bigger trouble that we all realise.

DLIB, he shouldn't have tinkered around so much at the start. He did that, they didn't get the results and now we are so low on confidence, it looks even worse.
Of course these players could've learnt this formation, it's just so much harder with the constant rotation and lack of confidence.

There is no shame in changing stuff even if its not your desired way. Sir Alex has us play in diamond one season quite a few times in games to just manage the outcome. He cared more about winning than sticking to only one style. its generally most managers undoing when they are too stubborn to change imo.

Ahmad the most recent example incan give you to the contrary is EtH. He changed his style and then we never had one. That led to his downfall. I understand you are already on the anti Amorim brigade but would you not agree that its time that we let him use his style and expose the players that aren't good enough?
As such this season was a write off as soon as EtH signed on the extension and remained in charge.

Ork it's a crazy question?
Ww have no adequate keeper in the squad at all and for me it's the most important member of any team.
I don't know enough about the options to suggest one. But I for one would have ddg back in a heartbeat.
Mendes would be my 1st choice as lwb and Robinson at Fulham close behind.
I'd swap Bruno and rashford for muani and Mendes in our make believe world?
While I'm dreamland I'd swap Douglas Luiz for zirkzee.
I'd sign ederson and frimpong Branthwaite dibbling and kudos 220m?
Squad
Ddg voitek Heaton 1 plays.
Rwb frimpong amad 1 plays
Lwb mendes amass 1 plays
Cb Branthwaite mdl maz yoro maguire academy kid. 3 play
Midfield Douglas Luiz ederson ugarte collyer kone . 2 play
Am. Mount mainoo kudos dibbling. 2 play
Striker muani rasmus obi 1 plays
I'd sell dalot and martinez onana bayindar lindelof Shaw malacia cas ericksen garnacho antony for as much as possible. On a sunny day in our make believe world perhaps 180m
Swap out Bruno rash and zirkze.
All in Jan in our make believe world.
Then in the summer rasmus out and a better cf in to compete with muani and obi
Not too much to ask ork is it? ?
All done for about 40m / 50 net spend and a 35% reduction in wages.
In my make believe world the other clubs are paying all the legal and agents fees and add ons so we won't be on the hook for any of that.

I am generally the last guy to advocate for sacking managers. This is not about being anti Amorim but good managers make adjustments. Sending us out there game after game the same way and getting a Tonking with the performances actually getting worst and looking more disjointed is not something I admire.
What style are we talking about btw. Fine with change of style but be competitive. we are 2-0/ 3-0 down and chasing the game like headless chickens against above average teams.
What makes you think his style will even work in the PL. There are far more decorated managers in football across europe and the Pl who don't play this system and they are not naive or stupid. We are so desperate for success we are willing to buy into any promise.
I would like to see him get to the end of the season by using the players at his disposal with some adaptation and no one will hold it against him until he can get players he likes in the summer and get rid of players he does not want.
If he keeps going like this they will sack him and will care none as they have shown they have very little patient. I hope he proves me wrong and things click but too many players look completely lost and they are not all rubbish as some keep saying.
Finally eth got sacked because of poor results and generally the script when managers get sacked.

Strong argument there Ahmad, I agree with all of it. Plan A isn't working, and there doesn't appear to be a Plan B. One of the most bizarre things is the drop off in form after the huge City win, surely that should have fired them up and boosted confidence, but it seems not.
