Looks like Mateus Fernandes is no longer an option. Off to Spurs for £85m. Crazy.
Anderson and Fernandes no longer an option. Arsenal after Scott from Bournemouth. Spurs still chasing Tonali too.
Spurs could have a really good team at this rate.
Running out of prem proven midfielders. Think it’s just Wharton left.

Let's have patience, but if true, they are building a very good team. With Madison, Kulesevsky and Bentacur back next year, they will have a seriously good midfield.

Thing is, that cos of those fees, then a lot of the other names mentioned will be priced similarly. Baleba, Scott, Wharton, Nmecha... their clubs will want similar fees. Not sure where the club will look tbf, and if they want prem experience then that narrows the options even more.

Spurs are Spurs. They have a squad packed with square pegs lumped together by multiple managers. I would doubt that they have the money to sign both Fernandes and Tonali. They wanted a big signing to get the fans back on side and massively overpaid to do it.

Surely they would have been better off getting as much business done before the World Cup as possible. Everybody could see that City would pay big bucks for Anderson. And, with the experience these guys have, they should have realised that would inflate the price for all prem players.

United have made a decision not to overpay for players, clearly, other clubs are willing to meet the asking prices. If the strategy was to wait until the end of the month for West Ham to drop their price, then it has failed.
Apparently, we are moving onto Scott next, but he isn't going to be cheap either.
Maybe Camavinga, but he doesn't really want to move unless he is forced out.
If we struggle next season, the transfer strategy will obviously come under intense scrutiny. If Ederson and another work out, then the plan will be justified.

Exactly, Grim.
If it's not for you, let it pass you by.
Not 1 person here had him as their 1st choice. He was not United 1st choice.
We made no offer to West Ham.
Spurs are buying Will and have a good manager in place.

As Ken said earlier we are 2 weeks into an 11 week window.
Fernandes, remember, wasnt good enough to be picked ahead of Casemiro and so he was free to buy with a full pre season.
Im glad we didnt buy him at that money, its insanity and desperation of Spurs as Danny said. Theyre fools. They signed Bissouma and whilst Caicedo went on to improve, Bissouma nosedived.
He wont develop at Spurs and I dont want players who arent totally committed to us and only us. I think we made the right choice to swerve him and continue to maintain our approach to paying for proven quality, but being unwilling to risk money on unproven players.
Not one person here has criticised us for not signing Baleba, but there were plenty going into the start of the league.
He showed he was young and had a great single season. We ducked a bullet there and I think theres more chance of Fernandes being a miss than a hit, because whatever people may say, that price tag is going to haunt him. Every game is going to be a benchmark of the fee paid, and its an almost impossible tag to shift.
I really doubt we will see ourselves in for anyone other than Scott, Tonali or Nmecha until others complete their World Cup campaign because as someone sensibly said earlier, you dont want to be buying anyone who may then get injured, so that certainly slows any deal for Camavinga or Tchouameni.

At this rate we'll be buying Henderson for $20m because he represents value.

Attaboy, Dodgy, always the voice of balance and reason.
30 Jun 2026 20:39:43
DB, the only value that matters is of the value that they bring to the pitch.
United are done going over their valuations.
I like Fernandes, but I like us drawing lines in the sand more.

Newcastle want £100m for Tonali, and it's reported Spurs still want to sign him as well as Fernandes.
