Our linen just got a whole lot less dirty. at least for Ineos and the Leadership.
We have just signed a deal woth Amazon, the most expensive in documentary history for All or Nothing starting in 5 weeks time. The week before pre season is the go light for filming. Just for clarity, this means the value surpasses the $150m paid to our royal traitor and his psycho gaslighting bird. That's roughly £108m, which wipes out the extra borrowing cost we signed last week.
This does seem to nod to the feeling behind the scenes that all is calm, we have our identity back to the point where they are happy to raise the curtain and show behind the scenes so they clearly fele we are going in the right direction.
I am also cynical that they think we are about to make a proper serious play for the league, amd who knows, maybe that £108m was for a big splash this year to secure all our desired key position upgrades (five I believe, 3 mids, a lb and a lw. Possibly Lewandowski as an educational striker.
I also think the timing may be deliberate to send a clear message to potential acquisitions that we see ourselves as the same poaitjon city and Arsenal were when they signed for theirs, very much upward trajectory.
Why cynical? Well not just for the payday, but imagine if we actually did pull off the league next year, after all, we would have won the title. Coupled with some extra new players (not always a guarantee as Liverpool disastrously showed last year, but more often than not a boost for points, imagine how many PPVs an end of season special or edited directors cut would bring in extra cash. At £20 quid a bob times several million downloads.
Anyway, whatever happens next season ot will be a great watch as a series.

I'm not really a fan of those Netflix football documentaries, partly because they always feel a bit too polished and controlled, but also because I think what happens inside a football club should largely remain private. The dressing room, team meetings, disagreements, and day-to-day conversations are meant to stay within the club.
Once cameras are involved, people inevitably become more conscious of how they come across, and it stops being a genuine behind-the-scenes environment. For me, some parts of football are better left behind closed doors rather than turned into entertainment.

Well that's good, Tony, I was never trying to hold your attention anyways.

Ports, I think you're right. I expect anyone who gets in front of a camera puts on a show, and I also wonder about the authenticity of what hits the cutting room floor based on editorial control rights. Will we really see the truth, or just what people want us to see?
Devil's advocate, perhaps it may encourage all the right behaviours if they're in the spotlight enough, and it acts in a positive light towards enhancing the culture.
That said, we never needed the right optics when SAF was in charge and Keane led the team. They policed themselves. No cameras needed. Their performances were on the pitch, not off it, so a point well made.

Going to be one hell of a tough watch with Carrick as manager, as he is an impressively boring person in front of the camera.

It's just the way the world has gone. Huge new types of income streams and audiences.
Ports has quite an old school view on it, and I agree with him at heart on this one.
However, if you don't move with the times, you get left behind.
We can't afford to ignore these income streams and the other income streams that will come from the halo effect, and we must reach the widest audience possible to keep up with the competition.
I have very old school and often traditional views on many things until it comes to making money and maximising income.
Then it's a question of what's best for the business going forward, and you can't be singular and hold the business back to remain in the good old days.
I probably won't watch it. I never saw the other clubs' ones, except for odd highlights. I've no interest, really, in the showbiz side of the business, but I understand it needs to exist in order for the football side I am interested in to be competitive.

Think that The Royal Traitor and The Gaslighting Bird is the sequel to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But that was on Disney.
