The Boy collyer is becoming a stalwart for the team. He is very comfortable and composed and is shouting at players lacking. The lad with 38 on his shirt is a liability and kept rushing across from right to left leaving a big hole. And I've not seen him pass the ball forward once and I'm surprised my telly is not broken.

The lad with 38 on his shirt? You mean Jack Fletcher? He’s just turned 18 so no surprise he’s a little green, I’d give him a chance. Last night was about the first 11 who I thought were exceptional.

Yes but mets be real if you want to break into the first team you need to be confident and composed. I understand he is raw but his positional sense is way off. Mr Cas had a right go at him. His head was on a swivel and that's a good start but over anxious and hesitant play will not get him far. He needs to go out on loan to build up a fair bit.

Collyer in fairness has quietly impressed pretty much every time he's been on the pitch. Sure he's made the odd mistake, as is to be expected of a youngster with such limited first team experience.
Yet his positioning and reading of the game have been very mature, he works hard and he has shown his ability on the ball to be solid. The fact that he played one game at LB and was arguably our man of the match in that game despite having never played that position before highlights his ability to understand the role and read the game.
I also saw him talking others through the game and communicating well, he realised he needed to step up and be a leader especially with a young lad alongside him and he did it no questions asked. Highlighting potential leadership qualities.
I don't think we will be able to sign a midfielder this summer. I just don't see us being able to raise the funds needed to buy a GK, ST AND a midfielder. With the former two positions being of greater immediate need.
That will open the door for both Collyer and potentially Sekou Kone to get more game time this season. While a lot of focus has been on Kone, as he's the newer more exciting lesser known prospect, I think it will be Collyer that has a breakout season.
Personally I think Kone would benefit most from a loan to the championship. A year of regular game time in that league could make him ready for us next season. He'll develop far quicker and get to a higher level from regular game time than he will from training with the first team and playing 300 minutes across the season.

I think you need to understand what stalwart means. He won't play 500 mins in the league this season if he is even kept is my guess. He is not becoming a stalwart and will never become one at united imo.

Collyer looked good in the few games he played last season, but for some reason RA did not seem to be happy with him and he went missing, I don’t see him playing that many again this season either…. Stalwart though that’s really red tints of the highest order, let’s be realistic, even if our poor midfield is all fit he hardly gets a game….

Have personally liked Collyer the limited times I have seen him, but had honestly thought RA didn't rate him and expected him to be gone. Maybe our hands being tied in the market will give him a chance. Not a bad thing imo, he definitely has potential to be a useful squad player.
