Spending x y and z on high profile players has left us wanting and not getting value for money so to speak.

Sometimes I think to myself, we would of been better off buying players who are premiership proven and don't cost too much. The high price tag and expectations really seem to knock our players wind out,

Jose holobas, Ryan Fraser, idrissa Gueya, Raul jimenez and Ben Mee.

These players could easily do better than some players at MUFC and cost far less than most recent signings.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 17:00:29
Disagree but fail to give your opinion.

I suppose our players are the best in their position yes? Holobas and Raul Jimenez have been playing with heart for the their team and manager ALL SEASON. Idrissa Gueya stats are all higher than NM go check it out Ryan Frasier has been a stand out midfielder for AFC Bournemouth ad Ben Mee is a left centre ex MC player head and shoulders above Jones at left centre.

So state your disagreement.

Looks like 4th might be securable after all.

That and sarri getting Sacked at 6.30 tonight.

1.) 10 Feb 2019 18:57:53
I don't know what's happening at Chelsea its a right mess, if they sack sarri it's back to square one again.

2.) 10 Feb 2019 22:34:22
Lampard will take over next season if he gets Derby promoted. I am sure they will follow the United lead for some positivity.

3.) 11 Feb 2019 09:53:35
Grant or Hiddink for caretaker then they'll look for whoevers the top rated coach in Europe and ruin him.

4.) 11 Feb 2019 11:48:31
Poch to chelsea?

5.) 11 Feb 2019 12:16:50
That would be funny and solves that issue.

6.) 11 Feb 2019 12:38:08
Jose return?

7.) 12 Feb 2019 08:19:09
When you allow the players to determine who they play for and who they don’t there is always potential for anarchy.

8.) 12 Feb 2019 11:22:23
When you play kante as an atracking cm there is the potential for anarchy.

9.) 15 Feb 2019 13:21:28
Lol jred. Both red mans and your own are true.

But that's he culture that Chelsea have created Red man and I think it's too far gone now to be reversed in the modern game.

With fellani off the payroll, Ed is now willing to offer Martial an increase from 120k to 195k to sign a new 5 year contract and D. De Gea will get a nice 100k weekly top up if he signs a new 5 yr contract too.

Happy days ahead.

23 Jan 2019 23:00:49
Their may be 15 games to go that decide our final league position and I'm a little bit worried to say the least. CS is a liability in the box and PJ lacks the tools to be a decent defender. I wish Bailly took the chance to get back into the team due to the fact that the LCB position is our wekest point in the team.

We should be going all out to get Kalidou koulibly in the team but we will twiddle our thumbs and watch klopp sign him up and kick ourselves for not signing him.

1.) 24 Jan 2019 03:39:06
Kalidou is happy where he is, and not available for transfer for now.

2.) 24 Jan 2019 12:15:39
He is the obvious choice at CB, strong in the air, great with the ball at his feet and prefers to operate as the left hand centre back.

Yet, making this transfer in January without a full time manager was never going to happen. He will cost a club record fee for a defender possibly for any player.

You don't break club record fees for a player while you don't have a manager. If the next manager doesn't want him then the club have wasted loads of money and look very foolish.

3.) 24 Jan 2019 13:32:33
Bailly has never played LCB, he always plays on the right of the two.

We can't pin our hopes on the accident waiting to happen that is Bailly. If Arsenal are interested we should let him go, as Arsenal/ Europa League is his level.

As Kenedy said, Koulibaly seems happy where he is as has been mentioned by 002 more than once.

If we're to push on and challenge then we need to prioritise an established CB with experience of winning titles, and move Bailly, Rojo and Jones on to clubs suited to their level.

4.) 24 Jan 2019 14:24:57
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Lindelof been starting LCB and been playing well?

I think the issue is finding a RCB to partner him.

5.) 24 Jan 2019 14:57:55
Lindelof played on the LCB under Mourinho but looks much better on the RCB where has been played by Ole.

6.) 24 Jan 2019 15:23:35
Koulibaly maybe unsettled in Italy because of the continuous racist attacks.
At 27, he would be a brilliant top class addition to our team. He could have similar impact which Van Dijk did at Liverpool.

7.) 24 Jan 2019 19:09:03
If there is any truth to the ongoing speculation then surely a punt on the £30m Alderweireld at a quarter of the price is the way to go? A proven top Prem defender whose absense would put a chink in Tottenham’s armour too.

8.) 24 Jan 2019 19:59:55
Spenno, I wouldn't be upset if we brought in Alderweireld. I do have two slight concerns with him though. Firstly his injury record recently hasn't been great, and at his age that is unlikely to improve. Secondly he is exclusively a right sided CB, which is the same as all our CB's bar Rojo. So that would mean one of our current CB's would have to play in their weaker position. Which isn't ideal.

That being said Alderweireld is an excellent CB.

9.) 25 Jan 2019 10:46:37
If Kouilably isn't available maybe we can enquire about his National team's CB partner Salif Sane (I know he just join Schalke this season but . ) or Jonathan Tah.

10.) 26 Jan 2019 06:45:38
I thought Bailly took a good step forward against Arsenal last night. He and Lindelof May still prove to be a good combination. Both are still on the young side for CB’s.
An experienced (though not old) CB would still be a good addition.
Then try Tuanzebe as the 4th, Smalling as a last resort.

11.) 26 Jan 2019 18:37:42
Only a handful must watch our games. I'm well aware Lindelof played LCB but that was under Mourinho. KenedyAndy is aware of my point

Lindelof is playing RCB now and Jones was LCB and was a liability hence me saying LCB is our weak point. It seems some posters would rather find argument or flaws on this site for any reason.

We are playing after Mourinho so my comments are present in position not asking for judgemental biased views poking posters with stick

As 002 would say RTFP and proof read h5y to think through.

20 Jan 2019 21:51:01
I guess it's a conditioning and fitness issue that becomes more and more of a struggle to hold on to the leading score.

It is more likely down to mourinhos out dated game where we were becoming stagnated in our play. The sideways and backwards play meant no pressing and less work rate so fitness levels need to be drastically improved.

Enough gloom and doom 7 wins from 7 well done Ole GGMU.

1.) 21 Jan 2019 06:05:24
Yes, the intensity of our pressing drops down drastically after the hour mark.
Hopefully, it gets picked up gradually over the coming months.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 09:37:24
There are several issues when settling into a new style of play.

For us we have gone from a team that runs the least to attempting to press higher and more frequently. That level of fitness isn't something that comes out of thin air and will take time to build up.

Also attacking patterns and combinations which just didn't happen before will have to be worked on, improved and perfected.

February is a tough month, we have been fortunate that we have had a run of games which on paper at least are easier to practice and improve. Over the next month we will see what this squad and this manager is truly capable of.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 11:13:27
Lingard and Herrera are two that work their bollocks off and then drop off mid way through the second half in games. I hope that Sanchez can seamlessly fit in to the fluid front three and that will alleviate one problem, Fred should likewise be able to dovetail in the midfield but he's only shown flashes of promise thus far. If both of those start playing like we know they can then we should be able to blitz teams for 90 minutes. Sadly, as Gary Neville said in commentary vs Spurs I don't see where Lukaku or Mata fits in to it.

4.) 23 Jan 2019 20:12:27
Thanks everyone for your posts. In time the fitness will get better.

Word is David, Frank and the Seeds have released a new song

For 30 years it Hurt now Jurgens got us dreaming. The Scouser games were appealing, while your teams players where healing.

We ran away with the title even tho you were so spiteful.

{Ed002's Note - I am a great Seeds fan. Pushing Too Hard.}

25 Jun 2020 13:42:04
For a few seasons post SAF we have bought some stinkers to put it nicely! Whilst the likes of Liverpool and Co have bought some cheap gems Suarez Coutinho Kante Vardy etc etc

So Olá Bruno Fernandes Bem-Vindo to Manchester United ( even if you did cost a packet )

1.) 25 Jun 2020 15:24:43
Suarez was bought much before SAFs departure. And Coutinho also signed when SAF was still at the helm. Maybe you should blame SAF for not buying them. We have been bad in our recruitment but that problem was there much much before SAF departed. We missed on a lot of "bargain" deals even under SAF.

2.) 25 Jun 2020 16:33:25
That's true Deep. The likes of Ronaldinho, Robben, Hazard and Duff come to mind.

3.) 25 Jun 2020 17:58:25
Great point deep, in hindsight considering how the market exploded after Sir Alex retired, his “no value in the current market” mantra towards the end of his tenure was actually a buyers market.

City bought the like of david silva, aguero, yaya toure in the 20-30m bracket who went on to play for a decade.

Chelsea bought hazard for 30m and he went on to be one of their best players ever.

All of the above would probably cost upwards of 100m in a pre C.V. transfer market.

4.) 25 Jun 2020 20:06:47
In hindsight, Man City did amazing business during the late 2000s and early 2010s; when SAF was saying "no value in the market". They bought Kompany, Zabaleta, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Aguero for under £50m each which wasn't market shattering fees even then.

So I think we can't say our recruitment has been poor ever since SAF retired. Everyone here was complaining and moaning about our poor transfers for many years, before SAF left. But it seems the club haven't realized it completely yet.

Having said that I think Bruno might turn out to be a bargain if he can continue building on the early promise he has shown. I like him a lot, Bruno is already one of my favourite player in the whole league but let's not get too excited, Di Maria had a good start too and look how that turned out.

5.) 25 Jun 2020 23:53:52
I worded that wrong should have been pre SAF retiring. I am sure you got the jist of it.

Just a question? i have tried looking down The posts and have not got an answer

So Any eds

If this Virus pushes on till September? The FA agree to a TW for the month of september ( prob never happen ) .

How does the books balance out? Top clubs are still paying players and staff with little or no revenue coming in. I would like to know if clubs can/ will dip into their Summer Transfer kitty to keep the FFFP above the red or will Clubs have Insurance for this matter.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs cannot pay for players using insurance money from loss of earnings. I don't really understand the question.}

I just want to rant about MUTV

I've just watched classic matches clip while the women's half time came

Keane was cut out of the whole show
Goal against Juventus no keane just the ball after his header
Goal against arsenal also cut out

Whatever he is off the pitch what he done for the shirt was a lot more than anyone in the current team yet pogba and JL are idolised on it as model pros

Go and ask my BE MUTV 6 Roy Keane's on the pitch would do better than all 11

Disgusted by that.

1.) 02 Feb 2020 18:59:41
Rdf i stopped subscribing years ago.
Its a nonsense.

2.) 03 Feb 2020 01:57:05
I stopped my subs 6 years ago, they're a bunch of amateurs with their heads in the sand. Reminds me of some north Korean station where no one is allowed to criticize the owners or the establishment. It's an absolute joke.

31 Jan 2020 18:43:43
With time running short I'd look to homegrown and make an enquiry to Brentford

Ollie is bagging himself a nice few goals and we I'd take Mbeumo too and send his France team mate AM the other way.

Caolan

Ed002 has said many times in the last few months.

Any club can activate an extension year but cannot do so to profit on that extension.

Pogba value will be so low come the end of this season that they cannot activate the year to raise the value.

This is the same for any and every club in similar situations.

Great response to the OP Ken! I could not argue any of that statement. Ole and the players have excelled in the last 2 weeks that we now hope the form continues for the rest of the season. The last 2 games have been thoroughly entertaining and have a feel good factor for the players and the folks on this site. I won't touch wood for we should be turning a Corner and after 5 years? We can slowly bring back the fear factor.

Ken

I assume the players still felt angered at Poch not playing Lucas moura in the CL final? Thus began the Pochfall and we know the rest.

The question is.

Let him recharge. and sign him in the summer? Or go all out for Allegri assuming Ole does not improve.

If he was not wearing our colours i'd be convinced he is the ref. He always seems to be close to the action but never contributes to the game. The "panther sign" he calls his celebration? I prefer to think of his pointed indexes! More so as the gap between his goal and his last assist. He needs to hold them close to his face due to his lack of vision.
