I don't really know who to blame anymore. I used to think it was the players, then I blamed the manager and that has flip flopped back and forth over the past few years. Now though I really don't know (other than the glazers) who's at fault. If RA was sacked tomorrow and someone else brought in I doubt we'd do much better, similarly if we buy 10 in the summer to fit this style I'd have my doubts too. The players aren't good enough, years of poor recruitment are catching us up yet I'm not sure this formation will work in the premier league. It's hard to watch atm I just want a little hope to come from somewhere as it's all pretty depressing!

I’m in the same boat in terms of the formation. I don’t think it will ever really work. But I’m not a professional coach so what do I know.
But for it to stand a chance it will likely need an entire new team. I don’t think many in the current squad are capable.
The team needs to be full of strong, powerful, quick players who can run for 90 minutes. There’s nobody in the squad that really fits that requirement. No real pace or strength.

You forgot to blame the fans, we aren’t blameless when it comes to the situation we are in.
The pressure of playing in front of 76k fans, we saw what happened with Zirkzee last month. Maybe the players struggle at OT because they fear making mistakes and having the crowd on their back.
Maybe if the home fans acted more like the away fans, the players would relax and play with with swagger that we crave.

Bit of a vicious circle at the minute. 2-3 successive wins and a bit of hope, one defeat and we're back to the start again. The formation relies on a few key positions and we're heavily lacking in all, I don't expect to see much change until he gets those players and even then we're just assuming it's all going to click into place.

IMO, our problem outside of the boardroom is we have no identity. Are we a possession team? Are we a counter attacking team? Do we press high? Do we drop deep? We seem to be playing each match for what it is rather than going out and playing a style that we are known for week in week out. We probably have 4 or 5 players who are dead certs for a starting 11 and 6 or 7 who are question marks.
I think Dorgu is a huge signing for us. Not because of him as a player but his position as a natural left footed wide player. We clean up the LWB which is an important position in the formation we play (as is RWB but we have players who can naturally play that role) and that resolves quite a huge problem within the team. The the other issues, although needing to be addressed, should be easier to resolve.
I completely understand why Amorim dropped Zirkee and Hojlund as they are not scoring goals however you need that focal point up top and not having someone there I think affected other players output. They really need to score goal but I personally would prefer one of them up there as I think that helps Diallo, Mainoo, Garnacho, Fernandes etc.

It's all very well blaming systems but this is a squad of professional footballers and you can't polish a turd.

We were on a better run, 1 defeat in 6, a bad performance and the world is ending ?.

Have you been enthused about all the performances in those 6 games AJH? Yes it's a results business but performances have been poor and we could have easily lost some of those games.

Ajh during that run we hardly played sparkling football. Lucky to beat Southampton and Fulham and made hard work of beating a European minnow.

We are getting outclassed and outcoached by nothing teams in the pl. I do not buy into the school all our squad are turds and the coach is golden. Who has actually improved under Amorim. Is that not a sign of good manager?
Lets wait and see how our new signing from Lecce does. I agree with ports having a left footer playing left wing back should balance us out and improve us unless the pace and physicality of the league is too much for him. we are 2-2-7 in 11 pl games under Amorim.
It is the worst winning percentage of any united manager. The two wins were against Southampton at home and Fulham away.
I don't get the line ups and constant weird changes.

Ahmad, Bruno and Amad for starters. Ugarte and Martinez as well.
Mainoo up front was a silly idea but I praise RA for at least trying something different when what he was doing before wasn't working.
I.

Mancman
That's not true. Bruno is still the same player and so is Martinez. Until two weeks ago people here were questioning martinez but a couple of good assists and he suddenly is an improved player we like lol. Hope he does a full recovery and is back to his best.
Ugarte was a late deal and hardly played early season and is an ex sporting player. He is the same player we thought we were buying and nothing has changed and if anything knows Amorim very well and probably understands him best.
The fan base is so desperate now we seem to look the other way and scapegoating the entire squad.
The football we are playing has no style and is terrible. We are slow, most of our possession stats are a false flag as we spend time passing it around in our own half between the cb's. We did well against better sides because we sat in and countered so nothing new there.
We don't create much, we get bullied in midfield by every team and teams seem to be guaranteed to score 2 or 3 at OT given our set up.
We still can't score and the entire team from Hoiland, Zirksee, Garnacho, kobe all look lost and gone backward. We are actually worse up front than we were before. What is the use of a so called new system if the majority of your players look worst for it and its yielding terrible results.
Agree on Amad but I have always rated him so not massively surprised.
Ruining my weekend atm and can't believe what i am watching.

It’s not that bad Ahmad, we have looked quite decent in Europe. Remember Amorim is still a young coach learning the game, he is not going to wander in and have all the answers.
Treat this as his sighter year where he is learning about the EPL, he will make mistakes however what is important is that he learns from those mistakes for next year.
