Really glad that Wilcox and the other brains trust have identified our poor defence and are planning on upgrading it .NEXT SUMMER! Absolute jokers, when carrick goes Wilcox better be following him out the door. I can't think of one decision this ? has got right so far. I only though Woodward was an arrogant Pratt, he takes the biscuit.

Utd were hoping to sell Rashford, Ugarte and Onana to raise funds. That didn't happen. They could have sold Mount, but chose to keep him - that was stupid.
Ultimately, United don't have the funds to fix the defence. The only thing is to suck it up, and get on with it. This is the team for the season. The coaching staff need to get the best out of the team. However, they aren't capable of doing that.

Last season we were all pretty happy with how the summer signings worked out. That was in part down to Wilcox
Many of us had reservations about the lack of investment in the defence and midfield and they have bought decent players for midfield.
Bad basic mistake not to fix defence first
But what is worse is when whoever plays as a team run so many km less than the opposition every match. That's down to the players and manager. Not Wilcox. If the manager cannot get the team to run their socks off then he is not good enough. If the players wilfully refuse to do so then they need to be replaced by others who will at least show pride in the shirt and respect the fans.

Do u both think the lack of running and work rate is down to poor preseason training methods and planning or just the players being lazy?

Poor pre-season and training methods. The same happened with OGS. RR hit the nail on the head with his damning assessment. The same is happening again!

I think its definitely on Carrick. All or most of our players used to work really hard the previous season or at their past clubs. Amad mbuemo cunha bruno, all of them usually run a lot but this season that's not the case.
You can understand (I think) when a player doesn't want to run and when he simply cant. Our players can't, the sharpness is not there and that's the fault of the coaching team.

I think it's both the coaching team and players fault. Obv not fit enough but I don't see enough of the players at least make the effort to track their runners.
