They still have 3 weeks to go, so they may well add to that.
To think this spending of recent years is part supported through the sale of academy players.
It would be fascinating to see a list of all the academy players they have sold over the last 5 years, or so, and how much they got for them.
It just goes to show how effective a quality academy can be, in part funding transfer activity.
The improvements made to our academy over recent times are partly driven by the desire to replicate this success.
We shall see how it works out.

They've spent about £225m more than they've brought in, and a payroll that's similar to ours. They're still being financially monitored after having made a record loss a couple of years ago. Wouldn't be surprised to see a big departure. But will City be in for Enzo if they also acquire Bouaddi.

It seems pretty certain Rodri will leave City, and I certainly think they will then go for Fernandez. Chelsea will then certainly be looking for a replacement.
I would make a hefty wager on the fact they will be kicking themselves for selling us Andrey Nascimento dos Santos, especially for £48m. We have bought quality there.

Realistically, though, of those 11 players, how many are likely to be regular starters?
Lacroix, Rogers and Quenda, maybe?
The rest are going to be squad depth, with the hope that they might step up. If not, they will be sold again in two years' time.
In a similar way, we have signed 5 players this summer:
Darlow
Orozco
Santos
Tielemans
Thompson
Yet, realistically, only Santos and Tielemans will be regular starters; the other three are squad depth or young guys we hope will develop into first team players over the next couple of years.
Eight of Chelsea's 11 will be lucky to start more than 10 league games, and combined probably won't play more minutes across the season than their first choice keeper.
