Terrible result, terrible season thus far.

I still think we'll do better when we have all our players back. My starting line up from the squad would be: Lammens - Mazraoui, de Ligt, Heaven, Shaw - Mount, Casemiro, Fernandez - Cunha, Mbuemo - Sesko.

Neither Dorgu (despite some improvement) nor Dalot are good enough as defensive full backs. The latter too often has a dreadful first touch, like yesterday when he had a golden chance to put us ahead.

Agree1 Disagree0

So fletcher bows to the media and pundits and possibly internal pressure too and plays the unplayed who mange to collectively prove why they were never played.

Who knew a coach could be so clued in after watching players daily in training and already tried them numerous times.

If there's a worse player in the PL than Dalot please tell me.
Absolutely gutless in all aspects!
The amount of times Brighton attacked down his side of the pitch and were allowed to get crosses in to our box was unbeliveable.
Dalot was lazy all game, never made any effort to get over to his man to stop the cross instead just sticking out a lazy leg.

I can't bear watching this team especially when that clown is in it.
I am not by any means blaming it all on Dalot, the whole team is to blame for last night's debacle.
Nothing suprises me anymore.

Seems unfair to keep blaming the players when above them is a role call of total mediocrity and negligence all the way to the top.

Multiple managers, coaches, formations, “tactics” etc. last night they looked beaten, like they had no idea wtf was going on, against a quality and well organised team and club.

Why appoint Amorim and then sack him half way through the project? What because he showed some emotion and passion against a long list of faceless corporate stooges. Football is passion, it ought to make us happy, sad, excited, nervous, angry etc. That’s why we love it.

Fair play to him. Like I said many times. I didn’t love his football but loved his personality. And replacing him with either a failed Cardiff or Middesbrough manager is frankly a farce. We should all be absolutely furious as fans.

Hi Eric.
I think they had to sack him after his outburst.
Ive read that some gel he had won tyke poer battle with wilcox but obviously nobody told amorim that.
He felt hard done by and stuck to his principles its admire that it is what sushi many before him lacked.
So I can't lay all the blame on his superiors for saving him.
After the row with wilcox nobody backed him and told wilcox to butt out so that was the final straw for amorim as it appears to me.

Nobody has come out of the debacle looking good imo.
Amorim should have been cuter and less emotional and his superiors could and should hence communicated better.
What's done is done so we can only hope the new guy gets as much from them as amorim was and we hold on to that European place.

Eric I have to disagree, to an extent you can blame the managers etc

But ultimately it’s the players, the manager ain’t the reason Dalots decision making is L1 standard, and that he is consistently putting in poor performances after poor performances

And this isn’t just this season he has been bad for years, yet we keep players who don’t perform at this club

Any other big club gets rid.

You can blame the manager for playing him every week and expecting different results but that’s where it stops for me

This cycle of hire and fire yet certain players are still there

JOSE bought dalot. How long ago was that? Ridiculous that he’s still at the club.

I do agree with the rest of your post tho Eric spot on,

Some are actually looking forward to having Carrick as interim.

How we have fallen Jesus.

Brilliant post Eric.

Who is looking forward to the Carrick appointment bolger?

12 Jan 2026 13:19:15
Can't say I am.

ED001, Who in your opinion would be good i terim managers?

{Ed001's Note - that's difficult because it just needs to be someone who can organise and motivate the players. Normally you need things such as discipline and coaching (obviously I guess) but when it is just short term, you don't really want them coaching the players too much unless it is in the right direction. Same with tactics, you just want them to keep it basic and leave pretty much a blank slate for the permanent guy to come in and build on.

Really, the ideal interim managers are the likes of Moyes, Allardyce, Glasner and Hodgson. Ones that will just focus on getting the team organised and fit. There are not many ideal ones out there, especially as you need them to be out of a job to begin with, no point paying out for an interim! Maybe someone like Carrick alongside Mike Phelan (if he is available) would be the safest route. It is unlikely to give you excitement and scintillating football, but it is about a safe pair of hands to get through until the new man comes in. Other than that, there really are not a lot of options out there. It is actually the ideal role for Southgate, but I doubt he would want an interim role. Maybe Adi Hutter just to make Ed77 happy?}

Fully agree with that ed001.

12 Jan 2026 14:39:03
Cheers ED001. Much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}
