So its Sir David Beckham. A legend knighted.

Agree6 Disagree0

He certainly been sucking up enough for it that’s for sure!

04 Nov 2025 17:35:47
Bit sad really. WTF is a 'Sir' anyway. I'd be embarrassed to be involved with such elitist nonsense.

04 Nov 2025 18:43:41
Congrats to his PR team who have been working their socks off to make this happen for years.

05 Nov 2025 00:22:51
Hardly sad is it, knight of the realm, well deserved, well done David.

05 Nov 2025 04:26:38
The problem with it nowadays like everything else is it’s been so diluted and being given out like confetti, gongs are being dished out all and sundry which is the sad bit about it all.

05 Nov 2025 07:26:59
You are a cheerful lot aren't you, an absolute icon of the club gets knighted and people can't wait to put the knives in.

Well done to David Beckham for achieving a life long goal.

05 Nov 2025 07:51:01
Yes, well done, Sir David. However, as alluded to above re dilution, being put on a par with the likes of Cur Sadiq Khan isn't a good look.

05 Nov 2025 12:42:41
I_am_djemba_djemba, maybe have a think about what being 'knighted' actually is.

Explain it to me and see if it doesn't sound preposterous and elitist.

05 Nov 2025 18:23:15
MancMan, it's a monarchy. What can you do?

Start a revolution, maybe ?.

06 Nov 2025 16:09:00
Noucamp, what Becks could do is publically state he was offered a 'knighthood' but didn't accept because it's elitist, archaic claptrap with no place in a modern egalitarian society.

I'd have far more respect for that than 'Sir David'.

I mean I'd feel a right pillock if anyone call me 'Sir'

06 Nov 2025 20:12:29
MancMan, I actively encourage people to call me sir ?.
