It shows how apathetic everyone is when there are no posts about a game.

With a top striker we would have likely won yesterday but only once they went down to 10 men.

Ruben has a formation, he refuses to change or adapt it, even when it isn't working, a formtion that no other top team plays.
That makes him either a messiah or an idiot.

A lot of other clubs looked at Ruben and decided not to pursue him, you wonder what they saw, or didn't see.

It took SAF over 3 years to show real progress, but times are different now, all EPL clubs have cash, and the days of us picking off the best players are long gone.

I really don't know what to make of it. RA appears to have had very little impact on results, and yet here we are with a semi final coming up. ?‍♂️

I am yet to be convinced.

I agree that the PL season is dribbling to a close and that the current standard of performance is not good enough in the long term. However, I also think that there has been and continues to be marked improvement in the performances. Most games, United are the better team and would be winning, with better finishing and more refinement in the attacking patterns/ better decision making in the final third.

We have played a sequence of games in recent weeks against teams that beat us comprehensively over the pre and post Xmas period. This has been reversed in 3 months.

You may be right that RA needs to show more tactical flexibility, I would argue he has tweaked a little already. Our biggest problem is scoring goals and the need for Bruno to play 2 or 3 different positions each game to try to create something. By and large the defence is ok, not great but ok, with Yoro likely to be a real asset next year. The midfield is solid, but not very creative, except when Bruno drops deep, and only one of the front 3 (Bruno, again) looks a good fit for the system, in the absence of Amad. The goalkeeper is a liability btw.

I think the jury is out on whether RA is the answer, time will tell, but I see clear progress. We outplayed Bournemouth yesterday for most of the game. At Old Trafford in December they beat us so comprehensively it was embarrassing. That's progress. Not as much as we'd like, but it is progress and I don't see how changing manager again would help, so we need to be patient.

Well said Bert.
AJH, your dislike for RA is becoming predictably boring.

28 Apr 2025 11:30:24
Very fair post Bert.
Nobody can be happy with the points return this season.
A full pre season and getting some of the rubbish signed and getting a few players in will make a big difference you would think next season.
I feel that we might struggle to get the goals needed to beat bilbao but we have been better in Europe so fingers crossed. Fjords really is tyke worst set of goal scorers amd forwards available to a united manager in my living memory.
Tyke worst 1st choice keeper amd some of the least creative midfielders ever. Two successive seasons with neg goal difference tells you that.

I don't dislike him Jimbo, I actually really do like him, I just don't think he's shown us anything yet to make us optimistic.

Jesus AJH.

What a rank bad post. I guess everybody has to have a pet hate. But I would have thought drivers that undertake or queue jumpers would be better than a Man Utd manager whose been in post less than a year, has woeful attacking options, and did not want to join until end of the season.

For one, I admire him. He sticks to his beliefs, is honest and open and is a breath of fresh air. The team is improving, and I have no doubt will improve dramatically next season.

28 Apr 2025 13:22:54
AJH so is your post basically to tell us that you are confused?

28 Apr 2025 13:23:37
You sees what you sees.

I've re-read my opening post and I can't see why some of you are getting your knickers twisted.

I sincerely hope he is the next Mourinho, time will tell.

28 Apr 2025 14:05:24
Wouldn't worry about it AJH its still the honeymoon manager can do no wrong period there's been loads to be concerned about with Amo so far but some people can't bring themselves to doubt the manager . hopefully Amo will move up a few gears nxt season getting rid of Hoijlund amd replacing him with an actual decent striker will make a huge difference.

28 Apr 2025 14:51:57
RA will do just fine, no team is winning anything with zero goalscorers a clown in goal and fridge carrying centrebacks, once he gets the tools he will be just fine.

28 Apr 2025 16:03:19
Told ya German fella ill wager over that its no the Glazers running the footy side now where every manager gets years and hundreds of millions to spend before been judged i think the Jim fellas ruthless still gash by nxt Oct/ Nov by that i mean mid table he's gone Ano will need to step up massively nxt season straight from the 1st kick off.

28 Apr 2025 16:19:01
BRD I get more pee'd off with the driver that hogs the lane, forcing somebody to 'undertake'.

28 Apr 2025 17:42:40
Not a chance Brum… SJR won’t be so silly, they made a decision to make drastic change and try new style although I never wanted SJR even he won’t pull the plug on his own decision a year in, they made drastic mistakes so far they not going to add another that early he will get all next season without a doubt.

28 Apr 2025 20:06:42
I dunno how sold he is on Amo he wasnt in the picture during the summer when Tuchel etc got interviewed for the gig hopefully Amo will improve and take the decision out of Jims hands . Ill see what the odds are in the summer might be worth a cheeky 20 on Amo been 1st in the sackrace specially if he doesn't win the Europa tho i think UTD will.

28 Apr 2025 20:51:51
AJH, we must be watching different games. From what I have seen, compared to the last 10-15yrs, is semblance of cohesion starting to grow shoots.
He has taken that dross he inherited and rid the club of the players causing problems.
He has taken the balance of the squad, riddles with injuries again, and pieces together a run in Europa that might end in UCL next year.
When he started the whole team was underperforming, now we have a GK and ST problem to urgently address.
All I see is progress.

29 Apr 2025 07:36:36
Yes Jimbo, if no one can see progress it also leaves me baffled, ok we are still not very good or even good, but 100% it can be seen what we are trying to achieve, I certainly like what I see, but as I said from the day they were signed, Rasmus is poor striker I said he was a 1 in 6 striker, Jesus he is much worse, I also never rated the clown in goal and he gives clowns a bad name. Add slow CBs to that and not even a 2nd striker any manager in the world would struggle with any system
Clearly a plan was set for a reset and clearly it’s happening, all we all need to do is hope it transpires, but I am not sure how anyone can say they can’t see a change and progress…. I personally thought the play under ETH was abysmal and much much worse.

I think if any football fans without prior knowledge of our manager were taken aside after watching us for the last half a year were told that Sean Dyche was in charge, they wouldn't argue with you.

I love Amorim's character. It's impossible to judge him right now, he said last week that a few months ago he'd maybe had his first thoughts about whether he should have been stronger and insisted on only coming at the end of the season.

But I'm also highly positive that there will be a massive improvement once he gets a full pre-season and summer transfer window to himself. Each signing in his vision literally improves the team, in theory and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next. We're not going to tear it up for a while, but I'd like to think we can get the season many of us thought we were getting this season.
