'Nothing is gained from over analysing'. You need to look up the word irony.

The manager will be given time and money to shape his squad, that's a certainty.
Where Amorims long term success lies is with his transfers. If/ when the next time we even challenge for a title, the majority of those players currently in the squad will not be at the club.
We've had the manager merry go round where each time a new one comes in, it's a clean slate for the players. This really needs to be addressed. They should all be viewed in how they've played over the last few years, no clean slate. If they don't immediately impress, out the door.
As the folks at the top, they havnt left me with confidence that the same mistakes won't be made re: contracts, signings, outgoing etc.
Someone who neglects their health for well over a decade suddenly decides to see a doctor, there is no quick fix. The club now has a owner pulling the strings who up until now has been appalling. We've paid and fired a manager and a DOF within a few months. There's rumours that Zirkzee will be heading out on loan less than 6 months after buying him. This isn't a regime that seem to know what they're doing.
We're an absolute mess. But being a glass half full type of guy, I believe Amorim has what it takes to make us play like a team and this trial by fire will show him who he can rely on, and who needs to be shipped out ASAP.

By this account, the club spent £3m bringing Ashworth to the club and gave him an expensive contract, only to realise that he wasn’t actually needed in the first place.
In tandem, they decided that the best way to send a message to freeloaders by sacking low paid employees.
Can people not just acknowledge that Ratcliffe et al think that firing low paid staff, cutting bonuses, and divesting from charities generates the optics of good business and fiscal prudence? And maybe distracts the spotlight from some of the glaring, far more costly, mistakes they’re making?

They did end the ridiculous and unnecessary payments to SAF and a Gill too.
It's not pretty, and some of the cuts may be OTT and of virtually no financial consequence in the scheme of things, but surely we all agree that the club needs/ needed major surgery on and off the pitch. Unfortunately, dealing with inadequate and overpaid players, which is the root of the problem, is necessarily part of a much longer process.

Danny,
The mistakes have been made over a number of years, I’d be careful believing everything you read as well, it’s always going to be negative when it comes to United, time will tell.

I think they made a mistake by firing eth. They should have let the season run its course and then get Amorim in the summer, gave him a full pre-season, transfers in and out and gone from there. Now he will get very little patients or has credit in the bank assuming we let him finish the season and keep performing this poorly, come next season if things starts bad, he is toast and here we go again.
I listened to Amorim's presser and he has said again and again the lack of training is the root cause of changing players who are used to play a certain way. If that's the root cause the schedule has always been there and everyone knew this so why did they do this.
This is not a eth love note but its actually about Amorim who is losing a lot of goodwill and trust factor when a new manager comes in. These performances are the worst we have had with a pretty healthy squad, don't kid yourselves and deny it only because you may dislike eth. We had poor performances against palace last year but that was having 3 fit defenders, no fit striker and just a massive number of fitness issues across the squad and the season was gone already and really nothing to play for but the FA cup.
The biggest elephant in the room that we should consider is even if we get more players and get rid of players who are now being scapegoated does the 3 at the back work in the pl and god help us if it turns out to be a folly we chased engineered by wilcox and Barrada.
I think the mess we are in is more about executive decision making rather than this manager or that manager.
If you are a club watching this ETH will be top choice for a big job sooner or later. He got a lot more out of a lot less than amorim is currently getting.
