For all Dalot's ability to get up and down the pitch and to send into the box some good crosses, he simply cannot defend. For a left back whose primary function is to defend, he clearly does not possess a defender's instinct. He went AWOL for Brighton's winning goal. A disaster waiting to happen. Ten Haag will rue the day that he did not sell hiim.

Dalot took up his position for the Brighton corner which is the area at the far post. Brighton continued to attack with a second phase of that corner from the side which Dalot was positioned, and it was Dalot who was stood in front of the Brighton player who crossed the ball.
The fault belongs with the players who were responsible for the near post of the corner, as they vacated the area where Brighton scored from. Watch it back it’s clear as day. Brighton’s winner was not Dalot’s fault at all.
He had a decent game including a clearance off the line and one hell of a cross with his weak foot which Diallo should’ve scored from.

The questions shouldn’t be about Dalot. Two games in, scraped a one goal win at home, one goal yesterday and was anyone really surprised at losing at Brighton.
1) Why does the manager persist with Rashford?
2) We didn’t score enough goals last season, started the same this, why play a system without a centre forward that was set up to nullify City?
3) Is Zirkzee a CF in the true meaning? Do we actually still need a CF?
4) CM is a vital position in need of strengthening, we have now lost a game whilst waiting for it to be resolved. Do the deal. Why do the club dither on this?
Liverpool next and on the back of a defeat will not be easy. It is a must win game now.

the Goal, is one those plays where its clear quite a few players have completely missed the boat given how open and how many players were lining up for that cross. Both goal were pretty soft and silly, first goal no idea why maguire let's the first cross go across him and second cross welbeck is wide open.
We were the better team imo but late in games when we are chasing a winner we seem to more open. The best remedy is scoring and atm our final third is not good and we are not creating enough or players just plain old missing good chances or easy passes to give someone an easy scoring chances.
Positives for me were mazroui nullifying Mitomo, mount was excellent.
Negatives, Rash is clearly struggling but our build up play and delivery to the wings is also not great and pretty poor. Not making excuses for him but there were many times where he made runs but the ball either does not come or the pass is quite poor. I think Martinez and Maguire both take to long on the ball and need to move it forward with more ambition. Bruno and cas both guilty of knocking it back to them too often when you think half turn and a forward pass would free up the front three. Us not creating enough is really a midfield issue as that their job to create opportunities for the forward players.
I know people are criticizing the Bruno substitution but he did nothing and complaint all game and stayed down when the fouls he wanted did not get called. Get up and get on with it.
I think Bruno and cas both make to many loose passes and turn the game into a bit of a ping pong match at some phases of the game. Whilst amad scored, he had a pretty underwhelming first half with some poor passes in key moments and guessing zirksee was going to come on for him if mount had not been injured.
Lets hope we get some business done this week and move on to the next game. we will win that game imo and always thought the brighton game was the tougher win.

Jodler eth said it after the game. Not enough pressure on the crosser and why let him cut inside on his strong side instead of showing him down the line. Dalot and 2 other were signaled out for our defending at that time by eth who apparently couldn't have been more wrong???
Bad luck in our 1st 2 games this season. Very unlucky???.

I thought Dalot played well yesterday. He was however partly to blame for their second goal.
The reality is, we need a proper lb and another winger. Rashford flatters to deceive. He really shouldn't be getting picked ahead of Garnacho.

Banjoe, explain why Rashford should be playing? He was awful last year and has continued that this year, he doesn't deserve to start amd unless he gets his head sorted, I don't see that changing.
