Laurie Whitwell done a piece this morning on United. Currently carrick still in charge though the ownership still haven't decided his fate. Woeful. Apparently the main issue is financial as we are struggling to afford to sack him and pay up him and the coaches and also pay for a new manager.
If that's really the case then wth happens if we go down? Why would anyone else take the job if finances are that bad? We are an absolute joke, the rats have run us into the ground. Relegation is a real possibility and if it happens then I'm not sure what comes after. Scarey times ahead.

It might be the best thing to happen for us.
It would be painful but could force the change we need.
Imagine City and United in the Championship.

It would financially cripple us for the next decade at least. Relegation would be an absolute disaster for us.
We wouldn't be able to meet the financial restrictions of the league without selling/releasing most of our first team squad. While we wouldn't have the financial spending power to replace those players meaning we would likely have to play in the Championship (one of the toughest and most competitive leagues in Europe with our under 21 side. If we cannot meet the financial restrictions of the league then we will get a points deduction.
As far as I'm aware we do not have any relegation clauses in the majority of our players contracts, although nearly all our commercial sponsorship deals require us to be an EPL club. Which means going down to the Championship ends those deals and the money coming in from them.
Make no mistake, going down to the Championship will likely mean an extended stay there and not an immediate bounce back.

If we've got to the point where we're so hard up that our garbage owners can't afford to fire a manager, let alone buy any top rated players, and we don't have any players who we can sell to generate funds, then how are we ever going to get out of this hole?
Let's say we somehow survive this season, but with no European football or prospect of it in the future, and with these owners continuing, no funds or technical ability to buy the right players going forward, would that be okay with everyone here?
It seems to me we're in a catch 22 position. The club is saddled with debt and can't make enough profits to reduce it without regular European football but can't afford the type of players or manager to be achieve that end. So, it's rinse and repeat.
Shappy's right. Going down to the Championship, which would reduce revenues to maybe £300-£400m would require major surgery to the squad, but, let's be honest, how many of these players are good enough for a top team anyway?
Right now the club has only 3 things going for it: incredibly loyal fans, a big stadium and a globally recognized name. So, if with Championship revenues gong forward, the debt situation forces the Glazers to sell, I believe it would be worth it in the long run. A new debt free ownership group would give us the basis for doing well in the Championship. It may well not result in an immediate return.
My football club has effectively been stolen through financial manipulation and incompetence. I want it back. Whatever it takes.
