Carrick to take training tomorrow apparently. WTF!

If this is what happens it's just cruel on him. The last two days have seen the media widely reporting that the club are sounding out new managers and making the final decision on who will replace Carrick. It isn't just conjecture either because it's coming from journalists with close relationships with the club.
To send Carrick into a squad that has already thrown him under the bus publicly, knowing that he's as good as fired, isn't fair. I'm under no delusion that he should stay in charge, but making him go through a training session because the club hasn't made a final decision on his replacement is out of order. Put the under 21 manager in charge of training, and sack the poor fella. It's getting humiliating for him at this point and he doesn't deserve that.
{Ed025's Note - i agree Danny, but this sort of behavior is typical of what we have come to expect at this modern day United mate..

I am hoping it is just an opportunity for him to say his goodbyes to the players, well some of them anyway.
I find it hard to believe what is going on.

At this point I wouldn't be shocked if they kept him .seems to me that Wilcox is more concerned about protecting himself than what's best for the football club.

It's not terrible. Perhaps they want a particular candidate and need to do things properly and approach his club first? Or their preferred candidate has a list of conditions they need to work out. We have waited years for a decent manager so a few more days is no big deal for me.

It's bad form, if they have made their decision to replace him, what gain is there to having Carrick around?
Imagine your a talented young player, and you see how the club treats great players, doing their best, would it convince you to spend your career at United?
There was a way for the club to conduct themselves with class and compassion instead I expect the club and hierarchy to make it even harder for fans to believe they have any idea what they are doing.
When I see Carrick he's a broken man, he's a fan of the club, he's one of us.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club are trying to make it as awkward as possible for him to try and get him to quit rather than take a pay out. Carrick alone is due approx £8m then the other staff costs, which will apparently add another £4m on top.
We are talking about people who removed 322 staff members from employment, they will think nothing of making it hell for a guy to save £12m. Net finance costs more than tripled to £69.2 million, representing a massive 228.3% increase compared to 2025. They have a sizeable incentive to save cash.
When taking into account that Howe will come with a fee to Newcastle of approx £6m due to the protective non-compete/rival clause. Plus the Carrick compensation I think we can discount Howe.
Julian Nagelsmann will be free and his salary has historically been similar to Howes. Purely from a cost analysis basis and having seen how INEOS behave you would imagine they will go with Nagelsmann.
