Gabriel Jesus on loan from the Gooners anyone? Actual no9, injury prone yes, but a loan as he’s surplus to requirements could work out for all parties?
Besides this, I’m stumped who we would go for without paying £30-60m for anyone half decent, which we won’t for a back up. Also see little point being a young player to support Sesko, we need experience.
Mateta and Sorloth are surely not the answer??!!

Huge gamble. Why not use Dorgu further back now for a year and coach him to defend. He ought to have the engine to bomb up and down the left side all game.
Finally, Rashford. Feels like there’s still a move here given either player or club has committed on him staying yet.

My guess... there will be no further signings this summer.
Which, if that is what happens, will leave the squad very ropey. Sesko seems to be about as injury prone as Shaw. So, no second striker will be an issue.
The club should be looking for a starting left back and not a backup to Shaw.

I know we need an lb. But goals win you games, and, in the absence of a backup striker, we could really struggle - especially with more games this year.
If we had one signing left to make, a forward option is a priority for me.
Between Dalot, Maz, Dorgu, and Shaw, there is cover. Dalot and Maz can also play lb, if needed. We need another number 9.

Goals win you games, but titles are won by solid defences. Even in our pomp under Fergie, there were plenty of games where we won one nil and our defence saw us through.

Can't see us signing an ex City player on loan.
Will say though it is a bit odd that we don't have a direct replacement for Sesko. Mbeumo or Cunha up top is not going to work for a sustained period of time.

The issue the club has is that the mediocre players they wish to sell are on huge wages. Most clubs only want a loan with a possible buy clause.
Ideally Utd would have sold Onana, Rashford, Ugarte, and Mount this summer.
Possibly either Dalot or Maz.
Next summer should see Maguire and Shaw leave, as there will be no need to hold onto those two. Neither are good enough.

I'm not really convinced by any of the experienced striker options available on the market, to be honest, Gabriel Jesus included (who has never been a natural CF in my opinion).
I think it makes sense to look at a younger striker with potential who can challenge/rotate with Sesko and is a natural CF. We have plenty of options in the squad if we want to play a square peg in a round hole up front, from Rashford and Cunha, to Mbeumo or Zirkzee.
As for LB, it's a tricky one. We need someone to replace Shaw, and if the club could get their top target then they would. But, much like Baleba last summer, if we would be forced to massively overpay to get them then I don't think we will. Which leaves the club with moving on to a second or third choice, or to try and make do.
We've been linked with young options like Seys or Salinas, but does it really make sense to spend on a young player who has been playing at a lower level, who might not settle, or might take time to settle in England; when we have Harry Amass at the club, a young homegrown player with potential.
Likewise, are we convinced that Dorgu will be a LW player and not a LB? Certainly right now he seems better suited to playing as a LW player, but I've also heard that, long term, the club feels with experience he might drop back into LB later in his career.
Does it make sense for the club to spend money on a gamble who might not work out, and who will restrict our spending later down the line, especially when we have two young players in Amass and Dorgu who could be given those chances instead.
When you consider that Rashford will be staying and will be fighting it out with Cunha and Dorgu for a LW spot, then doesn't it make sense to give Dorgu more minutes at LB rather than him sitting on the bench not really developing at all.
If the club's plan is to go for Hall next summer, like they went back for Baleba this summer, then it probably doesn't make sense to spend on another LB this summer. Personally, I'd sign Truffert over all of the available options, but then it's not my call.
With Zirkzee set to leave I think the most likely signing we make now is for another striker, and I suspect it'll be a younger, lesser known player. While we will leave rebuilding the defence to next summer when we will sign a RB, LB, and at least one CB probably two.
