I'm watching a bit of the Newcastle Liverpool match and have to say I'm not at all impressed by Hall. Beaten 3 or 4x in the last 30 minutes. The only thing he has on Shaw is he's younger. We need better. Not worth £60m+ for sure.

I thought he has a really strong game until he gave the penalty away. Guess it's all about opinions. He's better than Shaw in my opinion.

Walks into our team all day long.
That defence we have, bar Heaven and Yoro, who are kids, is absolutely terrible.
Look at how long they have been there, and wonder why we haven't won anything for so long other than an odd FA Cup or Carabao.

In less than 40 minutes, he let 3 crosses come in, missed a tackle in midfield, which created a chance, and then gave away the PK. He's overrated. I'm not defending Shaw or any of the defence, but if we're going to become serious contenders, we're going to have to do better.

If Newcastle are playing hardball, pivot to Truffert if EPL experience is a must. Otherwise, any of the ones mentioned from Europe would upgrade our defence. Although, we are still a rb short. cb, they just need to back Yoro and Heaven. Let them forge a partnership and get rid of the rest. They are garbage. Our entire back line of 'experience' is toilet.

He is not the best in the world and not worth a world record fee imo. Lots of full backs at his level. He was run ragged yesterday and cost them the game. That can happen to any defender on any given day.
He is good, and has good potential, but he is not the be all and end all.
Personally id prefer Robinson from Fulham. I've never seen Balde or Raum so no idea about them, but both have good pedigree.

There are lots of players that can upgrade us, but we shop at Lidl nowadays. We have bought an ex Chelsea player who struggled to make their team and, on what, his fifth club, and he is only 22. That's a concern in itself. Tielemans, who is OK, but come on, is he really the level that's needed? He looked like he was running in treacle on Saturday. People on here moaned at Cas's legs being gone, well it now looks like we have Santos, Tielemans and Mainoo who have no legs!
These signings worry me for sure.
That midfield is so slow, and every CB we got is no quicker. That's another huge concern. We clearly don't like pace. Cunha is slow too. I just don't see which way we are heading.
Seen lots on here being excited by Tielemans and Santos, how those expectations have fallen. Would either of those make Arsenal, City, Liverpool's midfield? Nowhere near any of them for me.

Agreed fully, Ken. Antonee Robinson would be a huge improvement and EPL ready. Only doubts surround fitness issues over the last couple of seasons, but it's a single issue, and he's had surgery to deal with it now.
