Marcus Rashford - Got to be the most controversial figure in our club right now.
And maybe it’s the football romantic in me but I’m hoping for a resurgence. Still remember his debut brace and he’s still one of our own.
Hoping people give him a chance and Carrick gets the best out of him as he fixes a couple of squad issues if he comes in all guns firing.

I was at that game, coming back to Manchester for a quick visit. Took the wife, who traitorously had become an Arsenal supporter. Grounds for divorce? It was a game we were expected to lose, or at least struggle in. Anyway, that intense surrounding, mainly male energy when the crowd rose after the winner went in, caused her to rethink her commitment to supporting any team at all.
She ended up deciding she was no longer going to invest all that emotion into it, and pulled back completely. Nary a peep from her since! Saved the marriage!
Mind you, she was attracted to Arsenal when they were playing some very attractive football under Wenger's professorial management. I suspect that she would never have strayed today, given how unattractive they are today.

The romanticism of him falling back in love with the club and getting back to his best would be great to see. I just doubt it will happen, while some fans are incapable of moving on. Once they decide they don't like a player, nothing can convince them to change that view.

If he wasn't already here, would we be trying to buy him? I doubt it. Late for training, fallen out with a couple of managers, questionable effort, £325K a week, we wouldn't be anywhere near it.
I'm not going to hold a grudge, but let's be honest, we are stuck with him. If anyone thinks he is suddenly going to be a great, highly motivated, and committed player, I fear you will be disappointed.

The biggest issue with Rashford is that he has never really tried to develop his all round game.
If you think back to his first season, his game was about operating high and wide to get in behind the defence with his pace, cutting in and shooting. Nothing has really changed since then.
It has always felt like he thought he should have a Ronaldo role without defensive responsibilities, and the team set up to counterattack to suit his game. The issue is that he was never close to being as clinical as Ronaldo. If he had worked on his defending, passing, dribbling ability, added anything else to his game, he could have been top class.
Watching him at the World Cup, his limitations are obvious. Struggles to beat defenders with the ball, and very limited tracking back.
We're fools for giving him a massive wage, and now we're stuck with him. Personally, I feel like he's going to be a distraction this season, with lots of media attention on his role, game time, etc. Think everyone at the club would rather that he moved on. But he's not going to take the drastic wage reduction required to convince another club to buy him.

I very much agree with AJH on Rashford and want him gone.
Whilst I agree with you, Danny, I take issue with the first sentence of your post. Personally I think the biggest issue with Rashford is that he has become a self opinionated, entitled, selfish d***.
