I think this is true of most football supporters, no matter who you follow.

It’s not about the trophies. It never really is.

It’s about the club you grew up with. The one your dad took you to, or your mate dragged you along to one freezing Tuesday night.

It’s about the dodgy pies, overpriced pints and those familiar chants about days gone by.

It’s about a hopeful punt upfield in the 88th minute.
A new signing who skies it. Again. The laughter, the groans, the endless hope.

It’s about knowing this is your place and that you belong to something bigger than you.

Because when you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with people who feel like family. That’s not just football.

That’s belonging.

No matter the score. No matter the league.
This is your club and this is your home.

Don’t think the pies are dodgy to be honest. Bit hot but not dodgy!

Jumpers for goalposts, last man back, cheeky fag while you wait for little Timmy to get the ball from off the supermarket roof, let’s see who can kick the ball off the bus, who’s about tossing a few rocks at it too, the police come to put a stop to it, but it’s gone too far now, it’s a whole lord of the flies situation and rival gangs fight over possession of the ball, should we slit their throats in the night, that’ll teach em, football eh, what memories.

Spot on, Grim. For some of us back in the 80s, it was harder to get to games than for others!

I was born in the 80s with chronic Asthma and spent vast amount of times in the Hospital for weeks. I will never forget the day the Nurse said I could go home for Sunday. it was Magical to see my Brotherand stay in our room but wait

What a surprise

Our bed spreads where the Man Utd team, our curtains where the Badge and our wallpaper yes our wallpaper was the team and their signatures.

I won't lie sone of them I couldn't make out but giggs, Ince, Robson Kanchelskis and schmeichel were in my room and I felt 10ft I can't speak for my brother he was younger

my mum and dad were working class and they did not have what we had but I will always be grateful Mam and Dad for that surprise that ignited my passion for MUFC

RIP to my Dad I will never support any other club no matter how bad we are.

I remember the 80's when everton and liverpool fans would mock us for being sh1t. I remember the 90s and 00s when fans would mock us for being glory supporters. Being a supporter means signing up to the rollercoaster. I remember being bored by winning the league and frustrated we kept failing in europe. I remember the electric games in the middle of terrible seasons where our league position was forgotten for 90 minutes of glory and temporary bragging rights.

Ever the optimist, looking forward to a new team to cheer on. Starting to shape up well, removing players is now as important as incoming. Let's turn the page and go again.

Games in the street or wherever, with jumpers for goal posts as mentioned earlier. The score could be 15=0 but when the game had to finish, it always seemed to be 'next goal wins' haha. Those were the days.
