Hello Ed001,

Hope you are well.

Forgive me for my ignorance, on the Liverpool page you compared Seskos finishing to that of Nunez, what's the rationale behind it?

I came across a stat online showing he's one of the most clinical forwards in Europe over the last 2 years, ahead of the likes of Mbappe, Haaland, Kane, Isak etc

Also, if we get him, what type of player can we look forward to seeing?

Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - you need to watch him play, he is incredibly inconsistent. He can be brilliant one second and hopeless the next. He can curl one in from 40 yards and then put it high and wide from 4 inches, all within the space of minutes. He has an incredibly powerful shot, but you never know where it will go, his shooting is often wild.

Like Nunez, he usually works hard and tries, but you don't know what you will get. Also, he doesn't get in the box enough, Sesko is good in the air (again like Nunez) but he is often hanging around outside the box rather than getting in there to get on the end of it.

He is incredibly raw and could turn into something special or be another Timo Werner.}

Interesting take, did see that he doesn't take enough shots as a 9 which can be concerning. Nevertheless, look forward to seeing him play with Cunha and Mbuemo, massive change from having Garnacho and Hojlund in the forward.

We do however desperately need a midfielder, who would be your pick Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - Baleba is the outstanding one. He would be brilliant, especially if you are dropping Fernandes deeper.}

Isnt there a stat regularly spouted on here that says Hojlund is one of the most clinical strikers in the Premier League.

No one who watched him thinks that.

If Sesko does arrive, I just have to trust that RA and his staff aren't planning on making him Tino Werner.

Stop it Tris, you'll upset people. Sesko is the messiah, the missing piece, worth every penny of the £80M he will cost. I swear some 9n here who have wet pants have never seen him play.

Paying for potential is always very risky. As you say, he may become a Lewandowski, or he could be another Werner. It's an expensive gamble.

{Ed001's Note - at least you got, imo anyway, good deals on Mbeumo and Cunha, so it should even out a bit spending the money on him. Personally I would have thought a goalkeeper was a higher priority though!}

Baleba would indeed be a dream; but would probably cost North of £120m going by reports. Hopefully something we can come back to next summer, fingers crossed, with champions league football. Also agree on the goalkeeper, desperately need a new gk, current one is absolutely dreadful.

{Ed025's Note - Champions league football Scholesy?, you are having a giraffe mate, you have bought 2 very good players that enhance your attack no end but you will still have to score 3 to get a point with the defence and keeper you have, i would suggest lowering you expectations a tad my friend..

05 Aug 2025 19:59:06
Lol. If only you knew how much emphasis I had on the word hopefully Ed025?.

{Ed025's Note - its not a quick fix Scholesy, i can see it being quite a few seasons before you are back to CL standard mate but i suppose you never know, the league needs a strong United as its boring when one team is so dominant like last season (Liverpool) so you need to get your act together...for all our sakes.. :)

Exactly. look at last season wham Everton Brentford palace Bournemouth forest i think we will finish higher than them all. Brighton maybe. puts us 8th. honestly don't se us more than 1 place higher.7th at very best. but more likely 8th. our lack of winning mentality was a huge factor last few years how much can that improve this season never mind playing ability?

Someone here described Sesko as a scorer of great goals, but not a great goal scorer. Personally, and I’d be delighted to eat my words, this would be another mistake. I think the smarter move is to sign a proven scorer like Watkins, rather than gambling on potential again.

Yep another potential buy, certainly would not have been my choice as CF, got to be upgrade on Rasmus and Zirkee that’s for sure, but it would have been nice to get some guaranteed goals in there with some experience of leading a line…but we could end up with all 3 forwards who only manage 10-12 goals each, that would not surprise me.
Garnacho was raved about and full of potential as was Rasmus, look how that turned out….
Still think it’s a strange way to build a team, when we have such a poor GK and back 5 and midfield the spine of the team still is very slow and very weak and now maybe a raw potential buy at CF….

Strange way of building a team…….

I think he will have an okay season, not be brilliant, but better than Hojlund. Fortunately he has Cunha and Mbeumo around him who will chip in with goals and ease the pressure.

It does seem a stretch to be hoping for CL beyond this season, but I'm pretty sure aiming for 5th with a cup run has to be the aim, doesn't it?

06 Aug 2025 11:28:54
Well the aim got to be top 4, but the reality is nowhere near the same and if anyone thinks it is the red tints are far too strong, yes we may have a new forward line and we need to get the ball upfield quicker, but that will leave gaps everywhere and our GK’s are shocking our CB’s slow and ponderous and midfielders no legs no mobility jeez I feel we could be in for a rollercoaster, if we don’t get 3or 4 a game we might be in trouble….
