One thing I really want to see more of and indeed can believe SJR want's to use more is performance related contract's.

I'm fed up of hearing about having to pay huge sums of money on a weekly basis to what can only be described as failures, obviously a contract entered into needs to be honoured BUT a contract is a 2 way agreement, they get paid wheelbarrows full of cash and in return the player supposedly gives a certain standard of performance.

If they fail to reach that minimum standard or indeed do not reach agreed K. P. I's then wages should go down and down. I'm sick and tired of rewarding failure.

I would feel embarrassed if I were them.

I suppose the issue is if other clubs aren't doing this then players aren't going to sign for United if they have choice.

If you have belief in your ability to perform, it shouldn't scare you. It would certainly concentrate the mind, also if you really perform then you could earn more.
If one club start's implementing them, trust me, others will be very happy to follow suit.

They do have element of performancenin many contracts I believe. All sorts of adders. First team appearances, goals, assist. Etc.

But good luck signing a player without a decent amount in base wages.

We all hear about the players on the highest contracts. When they are youth players breaking into the first team we also keep them on low wages compared to other first team players. How much are Dorgue, Yoro, Amad, Mainoo, Garnacho etc on compared to Shaw, fernandes, casemiro, mount etc.

Successful clubs make a lot of money off these players, and the players quite rightly want their share as they are the main product being sold.

What it would mean is that any player that comes wants to play for United. I would take them any day of the week over the money grabbers.

That would be easy Keefy, because no one would come apart from worse dross than we currently have!

All we want is players who play for the shirt. Whether or not it includes bonuses is irrelevant. Give one hundred percent and if you do t succeed at least you know you have given it your best shot and the fans will know it too.

Sure, there may be some personal incentives built into contracts, but bonuses over base must in part be based on the team rather individual success. It's a team game. The base has to be enough to attract the quality needed. It's not the player's fault that our club has been so inept at recruitment and overpaying both initially and on contract renewals when the performance does not justify it. The primary onus is on the club management to do better.
