Now that Casemiro has arrived who would be your ideal player to partner him either currently at the club or someone possibly still "attainable" this window?

I would still go for SMS - I think he has the skill, the engine the physical presence and leadership qualities to share the workload and significatnly improve us in a way no one else could.

Of the players still available I'd probably go for Tielemans. EPL proven and available for a reasonable price. Very good at progressing the ball and use to playing with a defensive powerhouse like Casemiro in Ndidi.

Personally I think there are better players out there potentially, but none available for around the same money and none with proven EPL ability.

With Casemiro having no experience in the EPL, along with Martinez and Malacia along with interest in players like Antony and Gakpo, I think we really need a signing or two who are a "sure thing" in the EPL. Players who won't take time to adapt and will definitely be able to hit the ground running. Especially as the season has now started and they won't have a pre-season to settle in.

I think SMS would be a great signing aswell.

Where is this notion coming from that Tielemans will be cheap, because of the contract situation? Leicester have dug their heals in on Fofana and Maddison and I think they'll be loathe to lose any of these players or they'll drop down a rung or two. Free transfer next summer.

Why would Tielemans choose United over Arsenal especially at the moment. Arsenal look like something special is happening their (early days yet) United look like the Titanic after hitting an Iceberg.

{Ed014's Note - I really insist you take Tielemens! I’m more than happy for you to have him honestly. ?

Oh give over Ed014. We insist you take Tielemans, please????.

{Ed014's Note - come on mate, you know you boys want him and I’ll be sad if you don’t get him.?

Spenno, there are multiple reports suggesting Leicester would accept between 25-30m.

Obviously those reports need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

But common sense suggests that Leicester with 10 days left in the transfer window would rather accept a reasonable fee for him now, than let him walk for free next summer when his contract expires.

Only really stupid clubs that are run terribly choose to let players leave on a free when there are decent offers on the table.

{Ed014's Note - can you hurry them up to make the bid then please. Thanks in advance. ?

No thanks as tielemens is another player who flatters to deceive. Anonymous for the most part then has a good game scores a goal and fans cream their pants. A lesser pogba.
I’m still hoping for de jong (won’t happen) but quality nonetheless. SMS I’ve not seen much of but apparently box to box player with a lot of good reports on being a good player so maybe him. I’m sure the experts on here could come up with more names.
I just want a midfield that can control games until then we won’t improve our play.

Partner for Casemiro? Kroos and Modric!

According to FM2022 Kacpar Kazlowski is the next Kevin de Bryne. Brighton just signed him though and he's on loan in the real world, never seen him play though

Who buys the players at Brighton, cause they do a pretty good job, be worth looking at then.

Casemeiro on his own will turn out to be a very average signing. He will not change much or anything for us. We need a playmaker.

{Ed014's Note - I won’t mention what Ed01 was saying about him earlier!

Milinkovic Savic would be my choice. If the reported £42.5m is correct then I think we should be completing this deal. Our MF would be looking so much stronger with Casemiro and SMS in it. Goals would still be an issue but let’s be honest, if Ronaldo stays, he will get a few.
We won’t be conceding as many with a solid midfield.

yep 2Toms i'm with you there. No single midfielder would have a massive impact -Possibly Rice - but Neves, De jong, SMS, Bissoumsa, Tielmans. any of the names we were linked with had to have a partner with them - not 100% sold on Casemiro but with no better player alongside him than we already have will certainly have an adverse effect on his impact.

Tielemans wouldn’t be for me, far too lazy and thinks he’s better than he is.

I’d take Dele Alli on a free. With Casemiro beside him, I genuinely think he could rediscover his best form and has all of the attributes needed to be an excellent box to box midfielder. Granted, he needs a major attitude adjustment and could end up being another Rashford if left unchecked, but for the right price (nothing), I think it would be worth a punt.

Ed14 I think you lot should go for Tielemams, most overrated player around. Then you should buy FDJ, another useless idiot. Leaving us with SMS, who will actually achieve something for us. And we're at it, stop this nonsense of buying Anyony for stupid money and Maximin for a lot less and he's 10 times the power Antony will ever be.

{Ed014's Note - haven’t you been after SMS for nearly as long as you were after Wesley Sneijder?

To be fair he’d defo go elsewhere.

How about Adama Traore, he and Rashford could take it in turns running as fast as the can nowhere in particular! ?‍♂️?

FDJ a useless idiot? Huh?

Gds, yes he is. Completely overhyped and a resounding failure at Barca. They will not be selling him otherwise, even though they need the money.
They're keeping the younger midfielders and selling Fdj, I think that tells you something.

Ed0014

Reality is no single player is going to change things. Every good/ great player needs players around him to support him.

Casemeiro without some players around him will also struggle. We need one more proper number 8. Maybe erickson is that player and remains to be seen.

{Ed014's Note - you need to see if your new man can adapt to the prem first mate.

There seems to be more negative reviews of him than positive but the proof is always when players like him get on the pitch.

He’s likely to have to adapt to a different way of playing too.
