If that happens it's purely a money saving exercise because then they can sign a cheaper lb backup rather than a new first choice.

Hopefully, if true, Shaw would be on considerably less money than he is currently on, then it isn't too bad, if he was to stay on as a backup option.
However, now is the time to let his contract expire.
