From a high placed individual, the guilty verdict in the Citeh case was leaked and that the intention had been to announce the punishment at the same time. It will come before any appeal can be initiated.
The likelihood of success is very slender. On the facts? After 2 years + of consideration of the evidence? Or fraud? Anyway, this person was pretty convinced the appeal would fail.

But the appeal will take another 2 years. And if they lose that appeal they will take it to the high court and try there. City won't actually see any punishment for years, if ever.

I disagree. I think the Premier League have got their answer now and can punish City how they deem fit. They don't have to wait for the appeal. City can't go to CAS either.
It's in the league's best interest to relegate City as soon as possible otherwise the integrity of the game is completely gone. And while City have made themselves a large part of the success of the league, the damage they have done to its brand is eye watering.
City will be relegated this season. Whether that's direct expulsion or given a points deduction that ensures relegation is up to the league.
They're finished as a club. Even if they unfathomably only got a slap on the wrist with a small points deduction and fine, they're still done. Every bit of silverware they've won post 2008 now has a little asterisk next to it denoting them as cheats. Every game they ever play, no matter what the opposition, or competition, rival fans will quite rightly remind them they're cheats. Nobody will want to play for a team like that. No brand or sponsor will want to be associated with that.
They're done. And it's well well overdue.

Not over til the fat lady sings. City will try to drag this as long as poss or threaten to in an a probably successful attempt to reduce their punishment.
Actually making a judgement was prob the easy part finding a punishment that is workable, fits the crime and does the least damage to English football will be vv difficult.
