What has happened to our young keepers coming through 18s 21s etc. We had a very good lad on preseason 2 yrs ago. I cannot understand how we have a 35yr old 3 third choice, surely there must some good lads coming through. Get some experience and integrate them slowly. Nothing against Heaton, if we get ride of the 2 above him, buy in experience maybe, Barcelona lad, Heaton reserve and young lad 3rd. Can't be worse than the current crew, ld nearly say Heaton is the most solid of the 3.

Are you on about Vitek who spent season last season on loan at Blau-Weiss Linz.

Do you really think it would be a good idea to have a young, upcoming, promising keeper sitting permanently on the bench.

How do you feel it would aid his development if he never get's to play? Surely he would be better served learning his trade through regular game time.

To be fair, Heaton’s signing makes sense for two key reasons:

1) Squad Compliance – The Premier League requires at least eight homegrown players in a 25-man squad, and as a cheap, experienced English player, he helps meet that requirement.

2) Goalkeeper Unit Development – His experience likely benefits the other keepers, both in training and mentorship. Goalkeeping is a unique position, and having a veteran presence to foster unity and guidance is common—and often valuable.

He can still get game time and sit on the bench for the first team.
